PP473 Thankful Wreath

Happy Sunday, everyone!  The talented, fun Anne Marie is our Paper Players hostess today with a cool color challenge:

I admit that at first, these colors really DID challenge me!  But I thought perhaps a floral design would work, so I pulled out a couple of sets and started stamping!  Here we go:

I used the wreath from Sweetly Swirled, stamped it in Crumb Cake, and some florals from A Big Thank You, stamped in the challenge colors.  Then I fussy-cut them out and placed them on a white panel, matted with Crumb Cake:

I added a Linen Thread bow, then heat-embossed a sentiment on a panel of vellum for the horizontal piece; I like how the stamping still shows through a little!

I embossed the background of the card with the Tufted embossing folder and added a panel of Rich Razzleberry DSP to fit the sketch from Case This Sketch:

I hope you'll jump on the Paper Player train and play with our colors this week!  You can see what all our talented designers created at the Paper Players blog!!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AYSI214 Colorful Bird

Happy Friday, everyone!  The As You See It Challenge this week is decidedly bright!  At first I was intimidated, but as I worked with the colors, I came to love them together!  Check them out:

Image may contain: bird

It wasn't my original plan to use Free as a Bird for my card, but I hadn't used it in a while, and it is so easy to color, I went for it!  So here we go:

I also used the Global Design Project challenge to CASE the designer, who is Sarah Berry; here is her inspiration, and I used her sketch as my starting point:

I stamped the single bird, flower and greenery in Stazon Black, then watercolored them with ink and an aquapainter...my favorite coloring method!  I added panels of Granny Apple Green and Pineapple Punch from some retired DSPs, a Blueberry Bushel diecut scallop and mounted them on a card that was embossed with the Pinewood Planks EF:

I mounted my bird on a rectangle diecut with a Stitched Rectangle die, after stamping some elements from A Big Thank You.  Finally, I rounded the corners of the card with a corner punch.  I just love these pretty, vibrant colors!  Wouldn't this card cheer someone up?!  I hope you'll play along with our challenge too....can't wait to see what you do with these colors!  Share it with us over at As You See It!

PP465 A Sketch from Ann

Hi everyone!  Sunday means another Paper Players challenge, with Ann as our hostess!  She has given us a fabulous sketch...I just love this one!

I haven't played with Painted Harvest for a while, and I thought it would be pretty in Terracotta Tile, which is a great fall color!  I paired it with some gingham and Come to Gather DSPs:

I diecut the woodgrain paper with a Stitched Shape square die, then stamped the flower in Terracotta Tile and Crumb Cake, then fussy-cut it out:

I stamped a few leaves in Soft Suede and placed them under the flower as well as under my sentiment.  The card base was embossed with the Tufted EF, and I also added some Linen Braid trim!

Finally, on the inside, I stamped another sentiment and the smaller flower, stamped off on a scrap first to give it a lighter effect:

I hope you'll play along with our awesome sketch---there are so many possibilities with it!  Share yours at the Paper Players blog, and while you're there, check out what the other design team member made as well!  Thanks for popping in today!

TMS521 Thanks

Happy Wednesday, peeps! When I made this card yesterday, in my craft room light, it looked great! I really though my DSPs were both from the Flirty Flamingo color family!   However, when I photographed it, the difference in the colors was quite apparent!  But I had already put time into it, so I let it go!  It uses the Tuesday Morning Sketches sketch:

along with some papers from the Brights DSPs and Bird Ballad DSPs:

So I guess the bird cage paper is more Grapefruit Grove than Flirty Flamingo....better luck next time!!  And although it's hard to see, there are feathers from a Paper Pumpkin kit heat embossed in white on the background; the sentiment is from A Big Thank You, diecut with a die from the Stitched Labels dies:

The bird, popped up on a stitched circle, was simply cut from the Bird Ballad DSP!  Thanks for popping in and checking out my mis-matched card!

So this happened yesterday too:

Her hair was getting a little too long for her to take of by herself, so a little cut was the solution! No more blue-turned-green, either!  Cute!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

ICC050 Feathery Thanks

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Just a quick easy card today using a quick easy sketch from Inspire.Create:

And it's not a Christmas card!!   I needed a quick thank you card, so I used some of the new fall papers from the Holiday catalog, though; they're called Come to Gather, and this one features that pretty new In Color, Pretty Peacock:

I used a sentiment from A Big Thank You and the feather from the May Paper Pumpkin kit, stamped in Pool Party, then added a Mint Macaron ribbon.  For a little extra interest, I diecut a Nested Label from Pretty Peacock cardstock, cut it in half and layered it behind the diecut circle:

Before mounting it on my Thick White card, I embossed the front with the Subtle embossing folder...I love the effect that gives!

Cassidy spent some time yesterday drawing pictures for Jackie and Lee....after spending each morning and afternoon on the school bus with Lee, she was a little sad about not seeing him every day.  So she drew him a poster of an XBox 360:

and for Jackie, she drew something she called a Golden (uni)corn....she misspelled Golden, but the drawing is still pretty good!

I am going to miss these creative moments!  Thanks for popping today; enjoy it and be blessed!

CTS324 and JAI459

Happy Friday, peeps!  Can you believe tomorrow is June already! If you haven't put in a last order from the catalog, you should do it soon!  Lots of stuff is on sale, too!

My card today was a wee bit of a challenge for me!  The sketch I chose was quite different,  but it's good to challenge oneself, don't you think?  It was from CAS(E) this Sketch and the colors from Just Add Ink:

I had NO idea how to interpret this sketch....I thought maybe stitched rectangles would be good, but I couldn't get the sizes to work.  I finally ended up with some hearts from the Be Mine dies, cut in the challenge colors and laid out like this:

The little striped stamp is from A Big Thank You, and the sentiment is from the new set Woven Heirlooms.  Each set of hearts had a little embellishment of some sort:

My little Take Your Pick tool got a big workout with these little diecuts!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Dana got an email that Cassidy had won an award (Cassidy never bothered to mention it, LOL!); it was only for her class, but knowing how much she likes to draw, we were thrilled:

We don't even know what the artwork looked like!!!  Maybe she'll bring it home at the end of the year!

IB71 Big Bold Flower

Happy Thursday, everyone!  Laurel has a pretty inspiration photo for us today at Inspired By; here's my take on it:

And here is her prompt...so pretty!

In hindsight, I wish I hadn't used a Basic Gray card base for my card...it makes the whole creation a bit dark, but it's already in the mail, so hopefully the recipient will enjoy it nonetheless!  I don't have many big flower images, the only one I could find was from Beautiful Day, so I stamped it in Stazon ink on thick white cardstock, added a wee bit of shading with Melon Mambo, and colored the leaves with Shaded Spruce, then cut it out:

I added some diecut florals from Beautiful Bouquets and the matching die, Bouquet Bunch, as well as some greenery from Botanical Tags, then liberally covered it with Wink of Stella!!  I had an extra diecut left, so I added it to my inside sentiment:

And the sketch I used is from Hand Stamped Sentiments:

Thanks for popping in today!  I hope you'll share your lovely floral creations with us at Inspired By this week!

15 minutes in the car, and she's plumb tuckered out!

AYSI197 Botanical Thanks

Hi everyone!  Yay, it's Friday!!  Do you have fun plans for the weekend?  I am taking a felting class with my friend Robyn, and we're going to make a bunny!  Can't wait!  Today's As You See It challenge is a sketch...it's pretty much like my FAVORITE layout, so I was excited to play!

No photo description available.

I have been neglectful in playing with our pretty laser-cut papers....sometimes they are a bit fiddly to maneuver...the little pieces catch on each other while I am trying to take them out of the package, but for today's card, I took my time and had success!!  Check it out:

I layered this leafy-patterned diecut over some Painted Seasons DSP, which then went on top of a Mint Macaron layer!  (An easy way to adhere these laser-cut pieces is to use a spray adhesive....use outdoors, and spray inside a box lid or somewhere where the spray won't get all over your craft room!!)  I added a scalloped layer in white and I thought that one of the diecuts from the Botanical Tags dies would look really nice with it:

After cutting it from a piece of Whisper White cardstock, I cut the bottom edge with a circle die and layered it on another piece of Mint Macaron, cut from the same circle die.  I added a sentiment and a couple of pearls, colored with my Mint Macaron Blend, then adhered it atop a piece of velvet ribbon.  The die and the laser-cut panel look like they were meant to go together, don't they?

I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week too...the DT has some fabulous samples to share as well!  Check them all out at the AYSI blog!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FF159 Thanks

Hi everyone!  Another quick card today using the Painted Seasons DSP - my favorite pattern, too!  I am using the Fab Friday sketch, which is a sweet, easy one:

I matted my DSP with a piece of Sahara Sand, then heat-embossed a sentiment from A Big Thanks on a piece of Poppy Parade cardstock and die-cut it with a Rectangle Stitched Die.

I felt like the sentiment tag needed a little more "something", so I use the little vine die from  the Botanical Tags thinlets to diecut an embellishment from a Corrugated Element; I thought for sure that running it through the Big Shot would flatten the ridges, but it didn't!  I love the look!

Thanks so much for popping by today!

What do you do when your daughter says "Mommy, I'm COLD!"?  You give her your coat, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
