Blessed and Thankful

DSCF6995

Just a quick post today…I have lots to do and I am sure you do too!  No challenges for me but I was just playing around with some of my new mini holiday catalog goodies and came up with this:

LeAnne Pugliese Truly Grateful Expressions Wee Inklings Stampin Up

It uses a new set, Truly Grateful, as well as new DP, thinlits and ribbon!  I will say that it was a challenge to adhere the “thankful” to the burlap, but I used some heavy-duty glue and it finally stuck!

My next one was for our associate pastor who is taking asenior pastor position in Raleigh, NC.  Although we will miss him and his family, we know that is a good move for them.  I made this card for them from our congregation:

Images are all  from Artistic Outpost.  There was a Bible verse on the inside, but I forgot to photograph it!

As a birder, I had the thrill of a lifetime on Tuesday; we have had hummingbirds swooping and looping around our two feeders like CRAZY the last few days….I have seen them do this before, but not for this duration!  Anyway, they are such creatures of habit, they know exactly where they can go, how they can maneuver around our house, the shed,  through the porch, up into the trees, etc.  Well, John moved a trash can and it got in the way of their normal path and this is what happened:

We think she smacked head-on into the trash can and it knocked the wind out of her.  You can see her eyes are closed, but she was breathing heavily.  I picked her up!!!!!!

She kept opening her eyes and shutting them, but she was quite calm.  I remember Ann’s story recently, so I tried to feed her but she wasn’t receptive.  Eventually, she recovered and she flew out of my hand, but for about 15 minutes, I was in heaven!!!  I didn’t have Cassidy that day, but when she saw these pictures, even she was amazed!

TSOT 61 and Taking a Break

DSCF0271

Hi all!  I have one card to share and then I will be taking a little blogging break…..I have been fighting a sinus infection for over a month and it has come back with a vengeance, so I’m going to take a little breather and try to recuperate.  I’ll be back on Sunday for the Paper Players challenge.  Maybe, just maybe, if I feel a bit better, I can return sooner!  I covet your prayers, as I have never had an illness or my allergy issues linger this long!

My card uses the Try Stampin’ on Tuesday sketch #61:

I wanted to do some watercoloring and the image I had in mind fit the sketch better if I turned it on its side:

I stamped the image and watercolored it with some reinkers and an aquapainter, then decided to use the Designer Frame to emboss it…..and I did it upside down!  But I liked the effect, especially how the eggs “sat” in the little scallops on the side!

The rest of the card uses images from the same set, Nature Walk and French Foliage as well.  Lots of embossing, a little piece of First Edition newsprint and a couple pieces of ribbon & lace, and it was done!  If you have any questions about what I’ve used here, please send me an email (not a comment!)!

Since I have been too sick to watch the baby, I don’t have any fresh photos to share,  but I do have a couple of my indoor flowers.  My Christmas cactus decided to throw out a couple of blooms, and my African violets are bursting out of their pots.  I am good at getting them to bloom but not so good at pruning and repotting them!  Here you go:

Sorry, I take better picture of cards than I do flowers!!  See you on Sunday!

Of Mice and Women

Okay, this is a non-stamping post….so you can move on if you don’t want to see pictures of nature and stuff!  Yesterday was a glorious day in Pennsylvania---finally the sun came out and I got cozy with the other John in my life:

I was merrily mowing along the west side of my house when something popped up from the grass---I squealed and so did baby mouse:

I ran to get my camera, and he was still there when I got back, but boy did he run:

and run some more:

and try to hide:

Finally, I let him run and he hid under some leaves under our maple tree.  I went on mowing; about 20 minutes later, I was mowing along the south side of the house, near another maple tree and he jumped right up from under the leaves and scared me again!  This time he ran up the tree:

He was quick; it was hard to catch a shot; we played hide & seek:

And finally he won---and I lost sight of him!  What a riot!  I also snapped a few photos of my flowers:

Ooops!  Just kidding---wanted to see if you were still awake!  Thanks for humoring me and allowing me to share my little backyard nature event!
