Snowflakes in April

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  My Christmas card this week uses three challenges!!  The first is from  52 (Christmas) Card Throwdown:

As well as Merry Monday's snowy theme:

And the beautiful color challenge from In{k}spire Me:

Because the colors are a little unusual for a snowy Christmas card, I went "light" on the snowflakes, using several different sets, stamping them in the challenge colors on a Whisper White base.  I added a sentiment from Paper Pumpkin in Blackberry Bliss, a retired metal frame from waaaaaaay back, some glimmer ribbon and linen thread:

The frame actually had eyelets on both sides, but I trimmed one end off to make it look more like a tag!  The sentiment is from Papertrey's Believe set, and you can't see it, but the letters are sparkly because I used Wink of Stella on them!

The white panel was simply mounted on a mat of Blackberry Bliss and adhered to a Sahara Sand card base!  Another for my stash!

Enjoy your day!

Sparkling Snowflakes

DSCF6704-001

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  I have another Christmas card today to show you….I still haven’t sent mine out yet, but I’m working on it!  This is for three challenges:
So here is my snowflake-y, sparkly, joyous white and kraft tall card:

I know the word “joy” isn’t there, but the musical piece is “O Holy Night” (from Crafty Secrets’ Vintage Christmas CD), and happiness and peace certainly bring joy!  My glimmer paper snowflakes float down amidst some pretty white sequins, and I have stamped my Crumb Cake card with various retired SU snowflakes!

I had some pearls just right for the centers of my snowflakes, and they matched my sentiment stamped in Early Espresso!  I added some EE ribbon and I have another for my soon-to-be-sent stash!
We began our cookie-making yesterday, and Cassidy was quite helpful…this is the first time I let her take the butter out of the paper, although she just couldn’t keep her fingers out of the butter itself.  Of course, my motto is “Everything is better with butter” so I guess she gets it honestly!

She liked the batter too…and the chocolate chips….well, you get the picture!  We had lots of hand-washing going on!  Thanks for visiting today!

Snowflake Spot

DSCF7437

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I actually got in some stamping time this afternoon and played with a few challenges I haven’t played in a while!  The JUGS challenge #202 is a monochromatic blue:

Just Add Ink #178 wants snowflakes, and the Pals Paper Arts #168 has a great sketch:

I whipped up this really simple Christmas card using a retired SU set, The Snowflake Spot, and some DP from last year’s  International Bazaar:

I added some embossing, glimmer paper and the cool new silver ribbon from the Holiday mini.  I rarely use Pacific Point, so this was a nice change for me!

And another Christmas card for my stash!

I finished Cassidy’s cupcakes for her party tomorrow….Dana is having a “picnic” theme.  Unfortunately, Cassidy was running a fever today, just not herself, so I am hoping that she’ll be on the mend by the time the party starts tomorrow!  Poor thing….it’s never fun to be sick but on your birthday?  That really stinks!!!  Anyway, here’s a quick pic of one of the watermelon cupcakes I made:

And one of the the little pumpkin from yesterday, before her birthday trip to the zoo!

Enjoy your afternoon---be sure to stop back tomorrow for a new Paper Players challenge!

Paper Players 153

DSCF6257

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Time for a cool Paper Players challenge:

Since we are in the middle of a heat wave, I thought a snowy, ice-skating Christmas card would be appropriate:

DSCF6255

You know how when you stamp and stamp and things just don’t “gel” for you?  That’s sort of how I felt trying to make this card, and I make Christmas cards all year long!  Anyway, I saw it through, so it is what it is!  I used a couple of retired stamp sets (Winter Post and The Snowflake Spot) as well as a couple current ones (Everything Eleanor and Petite Pairs).  I used one of the Apothecary Accents diecut to make my Soft Sky panel and added some new Soft Sky seam binding.  The snowflakes are embossed in silver on a piece of retired Festival of Prints DP.  I stamped my image in Midnight Muse and added some color with a blender pen:

And of course, Silver Glimmer Paper makes a nice mat!  And here’s the inside:

This is also for the Festive Friday trigger challenge #12:

Snow and ice keep you cool, so that’s my trigger—keeping cool!

I hope that you can cool off by making a Christmas card for our challenge this week!  Can’t wait to see what you create!  And be sure to check out what the Paper Players Design Team has created as well!

Here’s the way Cassidy keeps cool!  We set up a kiddie pool,  and she LOVES it:

I’ll have more pix to share later on!

ColourQ166

DSCF1323
Happy Tuesday, everyone!  Arielle has a gorgeous BLUE inspiration photo for the ColourQ challenge today:
I love, love, love blue, and I love music, but for the life of me, I couldn’t get the two to merge today!  So I went with another look, a starburst (thanks to Denise for giving me some directions!) and a big, honking, glittery snowflake:
LeAnne_CQC166
After creating my starburst, I ran it through a snowflake embossing folder, then stamped my snowflake from The Snowflake Spot (ret)  in Pacific Point and versamark ink, embossed it with Heat & Stick powder, then finished it with some MS glitter—that stuff is gorgeous!
DSCF1322
I added a smaller circle to the back so that it would show up a bit better, and heat-embossed a sentiment from Winter Memories in white craft ink and white embossing powder:
DSCF1320
A couple of glimmer brads a some silver glimmer paper finished it off!  I can’t wait to see what you come up with using these beautiful monochromatic shades!  This also qualifies for the Hand Stamped Sentiment challenge 147, which is monochromatic!  Be sure to check out the ColourQ blog to see ALL the amazing creations this week!
Anybody for a pickle?
