PP696 Sandy Toes

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Happy last day of June! Wow, how did that happen?!  The Paper Players hostess this week is Anne Marie, and I am filling in for her as she's a little under the weather!  But she did come up with this awesome tic-tac-toe grid, since it's the fifth Sunday of the month:

First, I have a confession to make....I have TOO many stamps!  Seriously! The stamp set I used on this card I have probably had for three or four years and NEVER INKED IT UP!  But I remedied that this week, so here we go:

I am sure that I was inspired by something my friend Michele made with this set and had to have it...and then it just sat! So anyway, I inked up this little boy, watercolored him in and paper-pieced his little boogie board and put him on a piece of Azure Afternoon striped DSP.  The edge of the DSP was diecut with a Penny Black die, and I added a sentiment from the same set; it's from Waffle Flower called Sandy Toes!  I only wish they had both the left and right flipflop stamps....it looks like this little guy has two left feet!

The tic-tac-toe row that I chose was across the top of stars and/or stripes, bling and blue.  Now you're going to have to trust me on the bling, because the only thing I could think of to bling up my card was some Wink of Stella on the sand....I know you can't see it here, but it is very sparkly in real life!

My final addition was some retired Wavy Trim.  The sketch I used is from FMS:

Such a fun sketch!  I added a sentiment from the Light the Candles kit---this set of sentiments is awesome!

I hope you'll have some fun with our Tic-Tac-Toe grid this week!  Share it with us over at the Paper Players blog and check out what the other designers came up with as well!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

TGIF479 Hooray for Surprises Birthday Card

Happy Saturday, peeps! Hope you have some fun weekend plans!  John is taking eleven people fishing on a charter boat today, so my day is free!  I spent some time yesterday working on a birthday card for a young man in our church...I hope he doesn't think it's too childish, LOL!  I have wanted to use the Hooray for Surprises set to make a window card that you open, using the special dies, and I saw a great video by my friend Amanda. She highlights a wonderful technique to get the images lined up perfectly!  You can see it here.  I used the birthday cake and candles image along with some bright inks, paper and cardstock.  So here we go:

So if you can see the little pull tab on the right side of the diecut, that gets pulled open by the recipient, and there is another image under the circle.  Of course, I forgot to take a picture of THAT, but it said "Make a Wish"!  The cake was stamped in Azure Afternoon, the candles in Lemon Lime Twist and the flames in Daffodil Delight, along with some stars from the retired Wood Words:

Sentiments are from the Light the Candles kit:

And even though it doesn't look like it, the cardstock, sentiment and stars on the inside are also Azure Afternoon....the camera really doesn't capture the shade correctly!

I am going to enter this at TGIF Challenges, where they are looking for sweet treats!  Can't get much sweeter than a birthday cake, right?!

Anyway, this family always includes jokes in their birthday cards to us, so I am enclosing one as to him:  "How do bees celebrate moving to a new hive?  They have a house swarming party!"  I hope he likes it!  Corny but cute!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AYSI326 Robot Birthday

Happy Thursday, peeps! I totally forgot my great-nephew's birthday, so I pulled out the Robot Buddies kit and a few other goodies, and made a quick little card! I used the As You See It sketch:

So here we go:

I stamped the image in Pumpkin Pie and Bermuda Bay inks, then used my Mini Alphabet dies to create the word "beep!".  I used one of the card bases from the kit, along with some Pool Party DSP and a little sticker border!  And of course, some googly eyes!

I stamped the birthday sentiment and some of the cogs on the inside and added a "2" from Little Numbers and sent it on its way!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC536 Aloha Birthday

Happy Monday, everyone!  I hope & pray you had a restful weekend!  I have a fun beachy-themed birthday card for our niece and I am using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch for it!  Here's the sketch:

Tomorrow SU starts a sale on kits, and I thought it would be fun to use the Little Smile kit---unfortunately, I only found this kit currently available in French, so I guess I should have checked BEFORE I made it, but I am still going to show it because there are lots of other fun kits available on the website! I have a couple more that hopefully I can highlight throughout the week!  Anyway, here we go:

I used DSPs in Pool Party, Crumb Cake and Old Olive to make my 1 1/4" banners and layered them on a Basic White card base that was embossed with the Twisted Rope EF.  The circular element features a vellum piece from the kit that I sponged lightly with Pool Party ink, the palm tree and a couple of glimmer punchouts:

The sentiments inside and out are from Lasting Joy, and I added a couple of stamped starfish from the stamp set included in the kit as well:

And going along with my beachy/aloha theme, as promised, here is a birthday card from my friend Wendy....I just love this wave!

And finally (this will make you jealous!), some photos from Dana, Wayne & Cassidy's recent vacation to Punta Cana:

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

PP647 At The Beach

Happy Sunday, peeps!  I am the hostess at the Paper Players this week, and our theme is At The Beach:

So many possibilities for this theme!  Stampin' Up! just came out with a beautiful new kit called Boho Beach, and they have the most gorgeous card backgrounds ever!  They look like those acrylic pours!  I chose to use one of them, but added some non-SU goodies that I've collected over the years!  So here we go:

I began by cutting a Tailor Made tag from Pecan Pie cardstock, and embossing a sweet little sentiment on it.  I was gifted a wonderful die set of sea-themed goodies, so I cut some out of watercolor paper and added them to the tag along with some random sequins:

And here's the inside, stamped in Pecan Pie and Lost Lagoon:

Here is one of the cards using the layout from the card kit; those envelopes are gorgeous too!

I am also going to pop my first card in over at TGIF, where their challenge this week is Beach Party!

I can't wait to see what you create for our theme!  The Design Team has created some amazing samples, so be sure to pop over to the Paper Players blog to check them out.  Get some inspiration, then share yours with us too!

Speaking of the beach, the kids went to the Delaware shore on Friday---a bit hazy due to the Canadian wildfires, but still a great day!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP552 By The Seaside and a Tip

Happy Sunday, peeps! Happy AUGUST!  Whoa, how did that happen? The summer is zipping by!  Time for a new Paper Players challenge!  Joanne is our hostess with the theme of Beside the Seaside!  Since I just used my sailboats last week, I decided to go in a bit of a different direction this week!

Did you know that SU has kits that are only on their website?  I must have been asleep when they passed out that info!  Anyway, this kit is called A Little Smile, and it comes in a sweet wee box just like Paper Pumpkin!  I only used the stamps on this particular card, but there are LOTS of fun embellishments (like glimmer paper starfishes!) and diecuts!  So here we go with my seaside-themed card:

I used Judy's sketch from FMS:

just stamping the panels with the stamps from the set!  The coral was stamped with Poppy Parade; the starfish and sand dollars were stamped with Crumb Cake and So Saffron, with some speckles from Quiet Meadow added for "sand":

And I stamped the watery stamp (at least that's what it looks like to me) in Balmy Blue, then added a sentiment from the same set, stamped in Early Espresso and diecut with a Tailor Made tag die, then tied with some Linen Thread:

And here's a little tip:  my customers and I both were occasionally having some issues getting some of the more detailed stitched dies out of the metal die.  I found if you put a piece of waxed paper between the stamped image and the die before running it through the Big Shot, it pops out BEAUTIFULLY!  Woohoo! Finally, on the inside, I stamped another sentiment from the set and some starfish:

The Paper Players team has some amazing samples using Joanne's theme, so be sure to check them out at the PP blog!  There's lots of summer left, so I hope you'll be inspired to create something and share it with us there!  Thanks for popping by today!

Still continuing with my birthday greetings!  This amazing creation is from Fran; it features a water lily and a "ruby", which are July birthday flowers and gems!

This brilliant card is from Martha....those flowers are washi tape!

And this glittery creation is from my Paper Player teammate from across the pond, Joanne!

Thanks, ladies!

Cassidy has been at soccer camp this past week, so I haven't seen her much!  Here she is enjoying some miniature golf while on vacation!  We'll be back to our regular schedule this week!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
