MTS169 Avant Sugarplum

Happy Monday, everyone!  I am really running behind today; I almost didn't bother to post this card, I was so lazy!  But here it is!  I wanted to use Avant Garden and Delicate Details at least one more time before the end of SAB, and the Match the Sketch sketch seemed perfect for it:

I did some monochromatic stamping with Sweet Sugarplum ink on Sweet Sugarplum cardstock using the Avant Garden set, then ran it through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot embossing folder:

I stamped two rows of lace and the birthday sentiment from Cottage Greetings on a piece of Very Vanilla and fussy-cut the bottom and rounded the top corners.  I also added a diecut from the Flourish set of dies because I felt it needed a vertical dimension!

Another one for my birthday stash!  Thanks for popping in today!

MOJO489 Avant Garden Celebrate You

'

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Hope your weekend is going well so far!  I have another birthday card today; this one uses Avant Garden because it will be retiring soon and I want to get some use out of it!  I used the Mojo Monday sketch:

I started with an Island Indigo card base and added some retired Sahara Sand DSP and a circle of Blooms and Bliss DSP:

I noticed that the flower from Avant Garden was very similar to the flowers on the DSP, so I stamped one, along with the center, and cut them out for my embellishment.  The Island Indigo ink was a little too blue, so I inked up my stamp with a wee little bit of Mint Macaron first, then added the Indigo ink, and I think I managed to match it fairly well!  I added a pretty sentiment from Suite Sayings, a few little speckles, a scalloped circle mat, and it was done!

Have a great weekend and be blessed!

I am scrambling to find pictures of Cassidy---we haven't been doing any fun activities, and it's been too cold outside, but I did find this one from before St Patrick's Day!  My friend Maryanne made these wee little leprechaun boxes filled with candy for all my stampers at my last Cards & Coffee....Cassidy thought they were really fun, and so did I!

Maryanne is amazing!  Thanks, Maryanne!

Be sure to come back tomorrow for the next Paper Players challenge too!  See you then!

SIP89 Warm Fuzzies CASEing Dawn

Hey peeps!  It's Tuesday and that means Stamp Ink Paper time! Justin has a fun sketch for us, perfect for the little idea I got from another demonstrator, LOL!

Stampers are the best friends in the world!  They share their ideas so freely!  This idea came from Dawn Olchefske, a very talented SU demo, and when I saw her card here (scroll down a few), I knew I wanted to make one of my own:

It just so happened that I needed to send a card to someone who just had cataract surgery...I hope he has a good sense of humor, LOL!  Of course, the chicken is from the Hey, Chick set and the glasses are from Day at the Beach!  It was a little challenging cutting them out....even more so to pop them up on wee little pieces of dimensionals, but in the end, it was worth it!

The sentiment is from a Hero Arts set, it has such great sentiments, I keep it on my desk all the time!  It just seemed to fit this crazy chicken!

I hope you can play along with our sketch this week....it's a great one with lots of room for interpretation, and the DT did an awesome job of it as well!  Check them all out HERE!

Several weeks ago, Cassidy had some lessons on soil and plants, and her class planted beans in a little cup.  I stuck hers on my window sill ledge, watered it occasionally, and despite the fact that it is root-bound, it did grown and actually has a little bean pod on it!

When I showed her the pod, she gave me a look of consternation and said, "Grammy, what am I going to do?  I don't LIKE lima beans!"  LOL!  I don't think she'll have too many to eat from this wee little pod:

Thanks for popping in today!

PCC231 So Sorry

Happy Monday, peeps!  We had a glorious weekend, weather-wise, but it makes me nervous, having these 60+ temps in February!  We're bound to pay for it somewhere along the line!  I had a little stamping time yesterday and made my third sympathy card for the week using the sketch from Paper Craft Crew:

Visit the Paper Craft Crew and play along with Card Sketch 231. #pcc2017 #cardsketch #papercraftcrew www.papercraftcrew.com

I hadn't used this detailed floral image from the SAB set Avant Garden, so I paired it with some Floral Boutique papers for my creation:

It seems as if I have a lot going on here....lace, leaves, florals....but I hope it all works together.  I chose Night of Navy as a monochromatic hue.  Thanks for popping in today!

Since I got a membership to Longwood Gardens (check out their website here) for Christmas and hadn't used it yet, I asked my SIL to go with me yesterday; the weather was so nice, I think every other person in the tri-state area had the same thought---it was packed!  They have an orchid display right now, so there were orchids everywhere!

This was an orchid wall in the lobby; then an arch of orchids in the conservatory:

A reflecting pool and hanging baskets in the conservatory, and some ground cover florals:

This doorway was covered in orchids above....it's hard to capture how big it is:

A beautiful way to spend a February afternoon!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!  Be sure to stop back tomorrow for our Stamp Ink Paper challenge, too!

MTS163 Linda's Birthday

Hi peeps!  Hope you had a good weekend!  I have several birthdays coming up in February, and my card stash is in sad shape, so I went to work!  The Match the Sketch sketch was a pretty one:

I am trying to use up some of my DSP stash; these pretty ones are from Blooms & Bliss!  They make it so easy to create layers since they coordinate so well:

I liked the heart element, so I stamped the sentiment from Avant Garden and punched it out with a heart punch, then layered it on top of some stitched circles that match the colors in the DSP.  I even lightly stamped the flower from Avant Garden as well....such a pretty effect and it matches that DSP perfectly!

And the inside:

I think my friend Linda will love it!

Cassidy went to a trampoline center yesterday....a great way to work off some energy when the weather is SO icky....too cold and damp to do anything outside!  We have three days off coming up and I don't know what I am going to do to keep her busy!!!

Thanks for popping in and have a blessed day!

Fab Friday 105

Hi peeps!  I had very little stamping time yesterday and never got to sit at my craft desk until after 9pm....and my mojo is suffering!  I liked this sweet little sketch from Fab Friday:

and tried to think of something creative to fit into that circle, but I think my brain was too tired!  I opted for a simple flower from Avant Garden, because I haven't used it much.... I had a little piece of Sweet Sugarplum cardstock already on my desk, so I used that as a starting point:

Pretty straightforward; I did a little masking of the florals so the leaves would look nice behind them; I added a banner of Birthday Bouquet DSp, which you can barely see, as well as a banner of Sweet Sugarplum stamped with the dots from Perfectly Wrapped and embellished with some Urban Underground washi tape.  I also added some silver wire and a piece of baker's twine from a past Paper Pumpkin kit:

It's always nice to have these little notecards on hand!  Thanks for popping by!

It was a WEE bit warmer than usual a couple of days ago (I think it was probably about 45 degrees outside); Cassidy had pajama day at school and she was SO HOT (she said) that she went outside to practice her jump roping in SANDALS.........

After which she had a picnic snack on the patio.  I finally made her come inside and put on some socks!

And I think we're supposed to get snow tomorrow!!!  Crazy weather!  Enjoy your day!

CCMC442

Happy Friday, peeps!  I was excited to see the color challenge at Create with Connie & Mary (now at a "new" FB location) because it is so bright and cheery, it almost makes me forget I have a cold and the skies are still kinda gray!  What do you think:

Image may contain: text

I also used the Freshly Made Sketches sketch:

These colors just seemed to fit with the images of the cute new set, Day at the Beach, so I did some stamping, punching, diecutting and coloring:

Each image was stamped in the challenge colors and colored with marker, blender pen and/or aquapainter!  I used a sentiment from Suite Sentiments, the big sun from Kinda Eclectic and the horizontal element is from Butterfly Basics.  Isn't it fun to mix and match elements from different sets?

And the inside sentiment is from Avant Garden:

Another card to add to my birthday stash!

Wayne brought home some amazing strawberries last night (he works for a wholesale produce company) and Cassidy decided to try a little trick she saw on her tablet from Life Hacks.  She took a drinking straw and pushed it up from the bottom, through the strawberry, to take out the hull.  It was a little tricky to get it pushed straight through; she needed some help from Mommy, but it worked!!

And she took a big bite out it before I could take a picture!!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS271 A Friend Like You

Hi everyone!  Sorry to have missed a day or so of posting and commenting....a nasty cold has descended upon our household...so far, John is the only one who has escaped it!  I am on the mend, and Cassidy is back to school, but Dana is down and out!  I did manage to squeak in some stamping time yesterday, using the FMS sketch for this week:

There is a really nice set of sentiments tucked away on the last page of the Occasions catalog...it's easy to miss!  It's called Suite Sentiments and it has a little bit of everything in it!  I paired it with the SAB DSP called Carried Away:

I added a Night of Navy layer as well as a diecut embellishment from the Flourish thinlets; I like the dark contrast!  And here's another one using the same sentiment set, although this one really didn't turn out as well as I would have liked:

This one uses Fruit Stand DSP, accents of Blushing Bride glimmer paper and Mint Macaron cardstock and the beautiful SAB set called Avant Garden...a really pretty floral!  Again, a wonderful sentiment for Easter:

Monday was a school holiday as well as our anniversary and Wayne's birthday, so we decided to make a cake for him.....since he is a Philadelphia Eagles fan, Cassidy insisted that we make green icing for the decoration!  Here she is, with the decorator bag; she wanted to make a heart and fill it in, so we did some "practicing" first on a styrofoam plate:

Grammy did the border and the words, and Cassidy (with help) did the heart and the stars to fill it in!  All in all, I think we did okay!

Enjoy your day and thanks for visiting!
