PP706 Hey Chick!

Happy Sunday, all! It's time for a new Paper Players challenge and Elizabeth is our hostess!  She hit the ground running with this color challenge....I really had to put on my thinking cap for it!  I love the be challenged, though!  Here's the palette:

I had a couple of ideas in mind, but as I was going through my stamps, I came across this Taylored Expressions set and thought it would be ideal!  I pulled out the matching stencil and went to work! Here we go:

I just love these little chicks, don't you?  I blended Daffodil Delight in light and dark shades to create them, then added accents in Real Red and Memento Black.  I mounted everything on a Azure Afternoon card base and added a black and white gingham trim to hold my little "hey, chick" tag!  I thought about stamping something at the bottom section of the card, but as I was digging around through my drawers , I spied this one lonely piece of metallic mesh thingie from SU; I saved it from a long, long time ago!  I think it looks great here!   And on the inside:

Age is only a number, right? I know I feel like I am about 25 in my head, LOL!  I hope you'll play along with our fun color challenge!  Check out what the DT with them over at the Paper Players blog, then come play along too!  Thanks for visiting today, enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS590 You're A Good Egg

Happy Monday, peeps!  I will be busy today as I have stampers coming tonight, but I wanted to squeak in a card for the FMS sketch before it ended!  I am not sure if my friend Beth will have received this in the mail yet, if she hasn't, she'll get a sneak peek!  Before I explain, let me show you the sketch:

And here's my card; I pulled out some retired goodies for this one:

Remember Hey Chick?  I stamped that crazy chicken with some Stazon ink and watercolored her, then stuck her in a little "crate" made from He's the Man DSP.  Her "straw" is from the Basket Builder Framelits!  I stamped the word "thanks" on a Conversation Bubble diecut and added another one behind it for some contrast:

And here's the inside, using another Conversation Bubbles die:

So, what prompted my chicken-themed thank you?  Beth saw the post where Cassidy was learning to separate eggs, so she sent us both these adorable egg separators:

Isn't that the cutest thing?  The feet hang on to the edge of the bowl and you just crack the egg over the openings and the white slides right into the bowl!  Haven't used it yet, but I can't wait to try it!  Thanks again, Beth!  And thank you for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Lots O' Circles

Happy Monday, peeps! Hope you had a good weekend!  I have a fun, quick card to make; the Addicted to CAS challenge this week is "shapes", and although this probably won't qualify for their CAS standards, it was really easy and fun to make!

My niece's birthday is tomorrow, so this is for her!  Here we go:

This Close to My Heart die is amazing...one pass through the Big Shot and I had this great frame!  I punched out various images from a 6x6 pad by Crate Paper, adhered everything to a Lost Lagoon card base and added a cute little banner and a glimmer heart:

This is such a great way to use up some of those little scraps we all have!

A little clean up around the yard!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

TTTC100 Thank You Chick

Hey there, stampers!  It's time for Team X to share a new Tic Tac Toe challenge with you!  Here's our board:

and I chose the left column down of Yellow, Polka Dots and Thanks, and I also threw in some Gingham!  So here we go:

I pulled out Hey Chick again, because that chicken just needed to be yellow!!! I stamped her in Stazon black and watercolored her with Daffodil Delight ink, then added some Real Red marker to her comb and wattle:

I embossed the front of the card with a Large Polka Dot embossing folder, added four Daffodil Delight stitched gingham squares, and finished it off with some ruched ribbon.  Since the ribbon was along the open edge of the card, I did a One-Hole bow (you can see a tutorial HERE), and here's what it looks like on the inside:

The final addition was the "thanks" from Label Me Bold (ret).  I think the bold black stands out nicely against that white background!

So, what will you create with our board this week?  I hope you'll share your creation with us and meanwhile, check out what Team X came up with as well!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI243 Hey Chick

Hey chicks!  Happy Friday and time for another As You See It challenge....this week we have a color challenge:

Yikes! I will admit that this palette challenged me a bit! I really wanted to use the past SAB Hey Chick because SU has a matching birthday set in the Mini Catalog PLUS dies to go with both of them! I haven't gotten the dies, but that didn't stop me from using the set alone...I can still fussy-cut that chicken out!  So here we go:

I used the FMS sketch to get me started:

I used a few retired products here; my friend had just given me this Chicken Wire background stamp, so I stamped it in Garden Green, then stamped, watercolored and fussy-cut the chicken.  I added the little egg, also watercolored, and a few stitched flowers in the challenge colors:

The sentiment was stamped in Garden Green and diecut with the retired Bitty Banners die!  It's a little busier than I normally make, but it was fun to add the layers!

Our design team has done an amazing job with these colors....how will you use them? I hope you'll challenge yourself to play along and share your creation with us at the As You See It blog!  Thanks for popping in!

No chickens, but we did have some visitors to our patio during the snow earlier in the week!  John usually puts out patio table away for the winter but didn't get around to it this year.  It's become a popular place, especially when there are some ears of corn on it:

They look so beautiful against the white snow, don't they?  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

"So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind.  And God saw that it was good." Genesis 1:21

SIP89 Warm Fuzzies CASEing Dawn

Hey peeps!  It's Tuesday and that means Stamp Ink Paper time! Justin has a fun sketch for us, perfect for the little idea I got from another demonstrator, LOL!

Stampers are the best friends in the world!  They share their ideas so freely!  This idea came from Dawn Olchefske, a very talented SU demo, and when I saw her card here (scroll down a few), I knew I wanted to make one of my own:

It just so happened that I needed to send a card to someone who just had cataract surgery...I hope he has a good sense of humor, LOL!  Of course, the chicken is from the Hey, Chick set and the glasses are from Day at the Beach!  It was a little challenging cutting them out....even more so to pop them up on wee little pieces of dimensionals, but in the end, it was worth it!

The sentiment is from a Hero Arts set, it has such great sentiments, I keep it on my desk all the time!  It just seemed to fit this crazy chicken!

I hope you can play along with our sketch this week....it's a great one with lots of room for interpretation, and the DT did an awesome job of it as well!  Check them all out HERE!

Several weeks ago, Cassidy had some lessons on soil and plants, and her class planted beans in a little cup.  I stuck hers on my window sill ledge, watered it occasionally, and despite the fact that it is root-bound, it did grown and actually has a little bean pod on it!

When I showed her the pod, she gave me a look of consternation and said, "Grammy, what am I going to do?  I don't LIKE lima beans!"  LOL!  I don't think she'll have too many to eat from this wee little pod:

Thanks for popping in today!

Hey, Hey Chick!

Hi peeps!  Winding down the week....hope it's been a good one!  I have a few cards I've made with the SAB set Hey, Chick....what a fun set!  We have a friend who celebrated his birthday recently, and we love to give each other a hard time, so I made him this card:

I drew the little cracks on the egg....because he IS a little cracked!  I used an aquapainter and some inks to color my crazy chick and his dozen friends:

I can't take credit for the next card; I CASed it directly from the SU website!  But I did add the "chicken wire" stamp from Butterfly Basics across my Pool Party banner for a little extra addition:

Isn't this little dude adorable?

And finally, the last chick in the set.....I colored her with some watercolor pencils, mounted the image on some Serene Scenery and stamped the sentiment on the opposite side of the paper; it sort of looks like twill tape:

And again, I stamped the honeycomb image from Butterfly Basics directly on the DSP:

Thanks for "chicking" in today!!!

It was so nice yesterday afternoon, we took a bike ride and blew off some steam running around the yard and playing on the swings!

Have a blessed day!
