Fun Fold Christmas Card

Happy Thursday, peeps! I was scrolling through my favorite bloggers' posts and came across a really sweet fun fold card from Michelle Last.  (You can see her video HERE or her blog post HERE.) I decided to use the Nests of Winter DSP and the Peaceful Season bundle.  So here we go:

There is a bit of an accordian-style fold on the inside and the front is scored and trimmed to the three panels.  I fussy-cut the birds and added the diecut and stamped sentiments outside and in:

I finished it off with some red ribbon and another little bird on the inside.  This was actually the second card I made; here's the first one I made; I haven't added the sentiment yet:

This time I used the dies to cut out the birds, and used a different sentiment and Cherry Cobbler ribbon.  It's not hard to figure out the panels once you do it a couple of times!  I am not quite sure why I used Moody Mauve for my card base, I must have thought the berries would match or something...I'll try it again with another shade, LOL!

Since this is a fun fold, I am going to enter this at Debbie's Creative Creases #94 Challenge!

Thanks so much for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP683 Birthday Fun Fold

Happy Sunday, everyone, Happy Resurrection Day! I hope you'll be able to spend time with family and friends this wonderful day!  Ann is our Paper Players hostess this week and since it's a fifth Sunday, we have a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge:

I needed a birthday card for a young lady at our church, so I chose the diagonal line of designer paper, fun fold and pastels for my row!  We made this fold at our recent club meeting, and I've been making lots of them! They're very easy! Here we go:

I must give credit to Juli at Sunny Day Stamping.  She has all the directions and a wonderful video that shows very clearly how to cut and fold the cardstock for this card, as well as a hint for cutting the DSP.  You can see it  HERE.  She's a sweetheart!  So I cut my card base from Basic White cardstock, then went looking in my plethora of printed papers to find some pastel colors.  I found this really fun glitter paper that had sodas, donuts, candy and other treats, all glittered up!  Truly, the photo doesn't do it justice!  There is actually a cup of coffee on it too but since I didn't think that was appropriate for a 12yo, I covered it up with a tag and sentiment from Hooray for Surprises, stamped in Balmy Blue and tied with some retired glimmer ribbon and a little bit of twine:

The center panel is some Bubble Bath glimmer paper for more sparkle, and the back is some glossy green chevron:

When you unfold it, you can see the sentiment and the little cake & candle I stamped on the inside:

This fold is so versatile, you can make it go in either direction!

I hope you'll play along with our challenge this week! The other designers came up with some fun creations as well! Check everything out at the Paper Players blog!  See you there!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Creative Creases GD Bay Window Card

Happy Friday, everyone!  I was super pleased to be asked by Debbie from Creative Creases to be a guest designer!  Fun folds are fun to make and fun to receive!  I went searching in blogland for some creative inspiration and here's what I came up with:

This is called a "bay window" fun fold card, and it came courtesy of the uber-creative Mary Deatherage, and you can see her tutorial HERE.  Here's how it looks when it's folded out:

For my card, I used Moody Mauve for the base, and Cajun Craze and All About Autumn DSPs for the panels.  It was fun to use that beautiful leafy image for the front, then add some glittery patterns for the sides!  I added a sentiment from Charming Sentiments on top of a Bubble Bath Soft Shimmer diecut accented with some Moody Mauve ribbon.  The cool thing about this card is that it can fold flat for mailing...it's the same size as a regular card!

I hope this inspires you to try out this fun fold...or any fun fold....and share it over at the Creative Creases blog! We can't wait to see what you create!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

SUO332 Fun Fold Thank You

Happy Wednesday, all!  The SUO challenge (Stampin Up Only) wants to see fun folds, and I thought I would make another card with a fold like the one I did here.  This time I used a new set called Super Cool.  I sort of glossed over it when I first looked at the catalog but then I thought the images would be fun to play with, and the big bold sentiments could be used with lots of other sets!  So here we go:

I stamped the entire ice cream cone image in Pecan Pie, then the ice cream in Early Espresso and the cherry in Real Red, then fussy-cut and glued all the elements together.  I did color in the cone with a Light Crumb Cake Blend and added some glitter "sprinkles" to the ice cream:

The sentiments were stamped on a panel of Basic White, diecut with the Countryside Corners die and I added another layer of Real Red to coordinate with the Real Red DSPs.  This time I put the sentiment lower so that I could add the ice cream cone to the top portion:

Here's a view so you can see the fold; I added a sentiment from Charming Sentiments on the inside as well:

I can't wait to play with this set some more!

Over the weekend, we went to a park in a little river town called Northeast, Maryland....I know, it's a funny name, but it's on the Northeast River!  We were looking at the water and boats and a little entourage of mallard chicks and their mama came waddling by:

There were about five ducklings and they were the cutest things!  However, as you can imagine, there was a LOT of duck poop all over the grass....thankfully we brought our chairs and not a blanket, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS593 Fun Folds

Happy Thursday, everyone!  The FMS sketch this week is a fun one, especially since Karren has challenged us to make a "bridge" card....a type of fun fold.  She gives a link to some directions in her post, but I challenged myself to wing it!  So here's the sketch:

And here's my card, using the Queen Bee and Lasting Joy stamp sets:

I stamped the bee with Stazon ink on vellum, then colored the back side with a Crushed Curry marker:

I used a Crushed Curry card base with Inked Botanicals  DSP for my accent layers.  The sentiment on the inside panel is from Lasting Joy, stamped in Memento Black.

The measurements for my card are very simple!  I took a piece of cardstock 5 1/2" x 7"', and on the 7"side, from each end, score at 1"and 1 3/4".  Fold in the two sides so that it forms a sort of box shape, and that's it!  Here's a side view:

The horizontal piece I used is 3 1/2" across; you can make it as high as you like, and you can decorate it in whatever way you like!  When you fold this flat, it will still fit into a standard-sized envelope.  And the signature can be written on the back side!

And I had so much fun making the bee one, I made another:

This one uses Flirty Flamingo cardstock and I realized I used Calypso Coral DSP....dang, I always get those two colors mixed up, LOL!  Circle Sayings provided all the images and sentiment!  I colored the cupcake with Blends, and added some Wink of Stella and a rhinestone "cherry"!

I am also going to pop one of these in over at Krafty Chicks, where their theme this week is "Stamp Act"---stamp something!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Peekaboo Bunny Fun Fold Card

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I had a good time yesterday doing some "fun folds" with a few of my stampers, and one of the folds I shared was Julie Dimatteo's Double Diamond fold.  You can see her tutorial HERE, and the first card I created using it HERE.  I decided to make a cute little Easter bunny card in some Blushing Bride hues, so here we go:

The outer squares were covered with some Blushing Bride DSP, then we added a cute diecut peekaboo bunny (Poppy Stamps) and some eggs from the retired Basket Builder dies.  The Basic White paper was backed with an Adhesive sheet so that it would be easier to attach:

The inside panel was stamped with some eggs and sentiment from a Paper Pumpkin 2017 set:

This was a wee bit challenging, but I think they liked it!  And I am going to enter this over at Debbie's Creative Creases Anything Goes with a Fun Fold challenge!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP631 Hello Sunshine Double Diamond Fold Card

Hi everyone! I am the hostess this week at the Paper Players, and I have a fun, bright color challenge for everyone this week:

I guess I am trying to channel some summer warmth with these colors---we've had a non-snowy winter, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been COLD! So I thought some bright hues would warm us up!  I chose a summery stamp set as well, one I've had but haven't used much this year!  So here we go:

I saw a fun fold called a Double Diamond on my friend Karen's blog a couple days ago; she got the directions from the oh-so-talented Julie Dimatteo and you can see her directions here.  I got some Daffodil Delight cardstock and went to work!

I stamped two of the swimsuits from Sunny Splash in Granny Apple Green and Tahitian Tide, then fussy-cut them out and mounted them on panels of Basic White that were embossed with the Checks and Dots EF:

Sentiments from the Splash set as well as the Best Family Ever provided a greeting for the center panle, and I added a few sequins for fun:

And when it is folded up, it fits nicely into a standard-sized envelope!  Fun and cute!

I hope you'll pop by the Paper Players blog to see what the other design team members came up with using these bright colors.  Then, I hope you'll play along and share your creations with us as well!  See you there!  And thanks for popping by today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Fun Fold Valentine

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I found a lovely card while scrolling through Facebook yesterday that featured a pretty (and pretty easy) fun fold!  Here's the YouTube link to the original card HERE.  Her card is 5 7/8" high and I cut mine down to 5 1/2" to fit in a standard envelope.  This is my prototype; I used retired Lovely Lipstick cardstock along with Country Floral Lane and Country Gingham DSPs, and several different stamp sets.  So here we go:

First, let me say that I know the Lovely Lipstick doesn't match the colors in my DSP and ribbon, but it was my prototype!!  The card starts as a gatefold, then when it is opened, the fun fold pops out:

I added some DSP panels and stamped the "Love You" in Real Red, then diecut them out.  The heart was punched from the DSP, and the "valentine" sentiment was fussy cut from the Love For You set as well:

The belly band is Mossy Meadow; I diecut a couple of panels for the sentiment, and I stamped the top floral in Petal Pink, filling in the leaves with a Mossy Meadow marker and the hearts with a Poppy Parade marker.  I added some of the Real Red ribbon for added interest:

I am going to enter this at Anything Goes with a Fun Fold!

I do have another quick little get-well card; it uses the sketch from  As You See It:

This is note-card sized; the base is Very Vanilla and I covered the front with a piece of Balmy Blue DSP:

I pulled out some really old stamps; the bird is from Of the Earth (2009) and the sentiment is from A  Dozen Thoughts (2013).  The diecut borders are from the Arts & Crafts dies....aren't they pretty?  I feel bad that I don't use them often enough!

The inside sentiment is from Friend to Friend (2004).  It feels good to get some older stamps inky!

So yesterday I took a little class at the local Senior Center and we learned to decorate cupcakes; this month's theme was animals!  So here is my labradoodle:

I definitely need practice with that grass tip!  And my polar bear, which looks more like a husky to me:

I've played with decorator bags, icing and tips, but had never made anything like this!  The fondant tongue just cracks me up!  John refuses to eat them, he says they're too special to eat, LOL!  Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Twiggy Fun Fold

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Yesterday my stamp clubs met and we made a cute card using a fun fold that I am pretty sure I saw on Mary's Deatherage's blog (but I can't find the actual post right now!).  I'll give dimensions later on in my post.  Anyway, it uses the Cottage Wreaths stamp set and some fun hostess papers called Celebrate Everything!  Here we go:

And here's a side view, so you can see the folds:

The wreath was stamped in Early Espresso and the leaves in Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Poppy Parade and Cajun Craze.  The berries were stamped in Pear Pizzazz, and it was all on a Crushed Curry card base.  I added a little black outline leaf to complement the black designs on the DSP!  It went together quickly and is really cute and fun!

Here are the measurements:

Card panel:  5 1/2" x 8", score at 1", 2" and 5" on the long side.

Pop-up panel:  3 1/8" x 5", score at 4 1/4".

White layer:  2 7/8" x 4".

Narrow base layer:  7/8" x 5 1/4".

Larger base layer:  2 3/4" x 5 1/4".

Thanks for popping in today..enjoy it and be blessed!

A Special Halloween Card Plus Cards from Friends

Happy Wednesday, peeps! I have a fun card to share with you and it is a CASE from my special friend Karen! She sent me this neat Halloween card with a cool fun fold inside:

Aren't those papers cute?  And here's the inside; I love it!

I CASEd her fun fold (it's very similar to the diamond-fold cards I recently made) for a very special someone; I used a bunch of retired Halloween sets and dies from my stash:

And here's my inside:

Karen used a velcro dot to hold hers together but since I couldn't find mine, I used a couple of little magnets!  Now, on to some more goodies from my friends!  My stamping buddy Sandy, who is always SO generous to me, gave me a couple gifts in this ADORABLE bag she made herself!  The postcard image is printed on clear acetate...it's amazing!!  I can't stop looking at it!

Oh my gosh, so cute!

And this stunning card is from my friend Doris; the leaf is red foil and it moves back & forth!

My Paper Players teammate Nancy sent me this gorgeous fall beauty: I need to do one of those raised sentiments like she did:

And when my sweet friend paid me a surprise visit from Michigan, she brought this cutie with her:

I am so blessed to have crafty friends!  Enjoy your day and be blessed too!
