AYSI293 Vintage Sympathy

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  The last day of February (---and the last day of Sale-a-bration!)  A friend from many, many years ago lost his wife suddenly last week, and although I haven't seen him for over forty years, I still wanted to send him a sympathy card.  The challenge from my old friends at As You See It seemed nice for that type of card:

So here we go:

I didn't want to make this card too frilly, since it is being sent to a male friend, but I wanted to give it a bit of feminitiy since it was honoring his wife.  I started by stamping an old background stamp called French Script on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and embossed it with the Timeworn Type embossing folder.  I sponged Crumb Cake ink on the raised areas and distressed the edges a wee little bit.  I chose some pretty prints from an old 6x6 stack from my stash called Summer Crush and used my hexagon punch to punch them out:

I used a Stitched Strip die from Pretty Pink Posh to diecut a sentiment from Hero Arts, then arranged everything on the card front and added some Gold pearls.  On the inside I stamped two sentiments from Papertrey:

On Saturday, after Cassidy's basketball game, we went to my niece's baby shower.  The venue was a lovely room at a Christian retreat, and they used the theme of oranges; here is the mom-to-be's inviting bench, placed in front of the decorated fireplace:

Some of the decor:

and our place settings (I've already devoured the wee little jar of marmalade, and Cassidy ate the candy!):

One of the games we played was to guess what was in each of twenty baby diapers!  The sisters-in-law put twenty various items inside twnety diapers, then sealed the tops and sides, and we had to guess what was inside just by feeling the items!  It was fun, but my guesses were a total flop!  Cassidy got fourteen out of twenty, though!  She rocked it!

Thanks so much for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

PP512 Colors by Ann

Hello, stampers!  Ann is our Paper Players hostess this week with a lovely fall palette:

I knew I wanted to create something with some fall leaves, and since I've been happily perusing my older stamps lately, I pulled out French Foliage...one of my favorites...along with French Script, and went to work:

I started with a Naturals White square card base, added a layer of Cajun Craze and a layer of Cinnamon Cider, stamped with the French Script stamp and shaded with a sponge.  The skeleton leaf panel is a new one to me; it's from Sweet n Sassy and I sponged several colors on it before inking it up.  Finally, I stamped the leaves in Mossy Meadow, Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry, fussy-cutting them out and layering them in the corner.  The sentiment was also fussy-cut and popped up, and I added some enamel dots for embellishment:

The sketch I used is from Inkspire Me:

And since it's a large square card, I also made my own envelope using some retired DSP and the retired Envelope Punch Board!  I hope you'll play along with our pretty fall colors this week!  Be sure to check out what the Design Team has created with them as well...you'll find them all at the Paper Players!  Thanks for popping in today!

Here's a lone little leaf I found on one of my walks:

The leaves are finally beginning to turn!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RR111 Beauty in All Things

Happy Tuesday, peeps! It's time for another fun RetroRubber challenge...a tic-tac-toe!  Check it out:

No photo description available.

I chose the diagonal line of Tone-on-Tone, Flowers and Sponging!  I managed to do quite a bit of the tone-on-tone and sponging, LOL!  So here's my creation:

The rose image is from Unity's Kit of the Month for June, 2011....I stamped it in Versamark ink on our new Rococo Rose, cut it with a stitched rectangle die and sponged the edges.  My Sahara Sand card base was stamped with the Floral background stamp (2005) in Sahara Sand ink, and it was sponged too!  The Soft Suede panel was stamped with the French Script background stamp (2006) and it was liberally sponged too!  My white doily was sponged with Crumb Cake ink to give it a vintage feel, and these retired organdy roses were glued on and sprinkled with some vintage glitter after being brushed with some glue:

I added a little braided twine trim to finish it off!  The inside is blank, because I haven't quite decided for what occasion I'll use this! I haven't done a vintage piece like this for a long time, it was fun to do!  I hope you'll play along with our challenge too!  Just remember that your stamps must be at least a year old....not ancient like mine, just at least a year!  Share it with us at Retro Rubber...can't wait to see what you create!

So we have had this crazy robin around our house, I think I mentioned it in an earlier post....he has made a nuisance of himself, sitting on our car mirrors and making a mess:

On Saturday, I ran some errands and left my car out while I unloaded things from the back; I left it in the drive with the windows partially down.  When I went to get back in the car to go to a banquet at church, the robin was INSIDE MY CAR!!!!

He was right next to the open window, but couldn't quite figure out how to get out.  I had to open two doors before he flew out.   And yes......he pooped ALL OVER the inside!!  But it was really funny!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB79 and MTS214 Love

Happy Friday peeps!  Wow, the weekend is here and Super Bowl is quickly approaching!  But I am in the throes of making Valentines!  So many pretty challenges out there, I just can't help myself!  Today I am using the Match the Sketch sketch and the RetroRubber "love" challenge for my card:

RRCB 79

There really isn't much stamping on my card, most of the work is done by some beautiful papers (they are retro, too!) by My Mind's Eye called Heirloom, but I did stamp the striped paper with the French Script background stamp from SU, and the date on the label says 2000!  Wow....that's an oldie for sure!  So here we go:

All the papers except for the pink hearts that are behind the printed hearts, are from the same paper pack...I just punched them out with a large SU heart punch.  The "I love you" heart is from the same paper, and I just fussy cut it out.  Each of the pink hearts were punched with the same punch from Strawberry Slush cardstock and daubered with White Craft ink to soften the colors.  I did use a new CTMH die to create the row of gold foil hearts.....so stinkin' cute!

I broke my rule of never using a button, because this one just looked so cute:

This heart was embellished with a little Corrugated Element from the current SU catalog:

And this little one was embellished with a diecut from the heart border:

I love the soft vintage look of this!  And here are a couple of sweethearts:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS293 Get Well Soon

Happy Saturday, everyone!  I have missed you, hope you missed me, LOL!  When we began our kitchen remodel, we also cleaned out a lot of stuff and decided to have a yard sale yesterday and today!  So I have been busy setting everything up!  Even though it rained yesterday off and on, we still had a lot of customers, and I am looking forward to some more today!  I had a card made for the FMS sketch challenge from Karren a day or so ago, but never got a chance to post it, so we here go!

I pulled out some older papers from a little 6x6 pad from My Mind's Eye called Oliver; I just loved the little collage of images down in the corner:

I didn't have a circle or oval die big enough to cut my shape, so I did it free-hand, then stamped some flowers on the rounded edge with a retired stamp called Vintage Vogue.  The kraft paper card base was stamped with French Script, and I also stamped a little key from Artistic Etchings.

I still thought it looked a little bare, so I added some black glimmer leaves, a bit of Soft Sky seam binding and a little chevron heart.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  I never have enough get-well cards, so this is the beginning of my stash!  Thanks for popping in today!

So here's a shot of our garage sale....luckily we could have it IN the garage:

Of course, not everything was for sale....all the men who shopped were very interested in buying all the tools and equipment that weren't for sale, LOL!  Cassidy got in on the action too...she helped Grampy put up the signs at the end of the driveway:

and she was very helpful in pricing all the goodies:

Be sure to stop back tomorrow for our next Paper Players challenge too!  Be blessed!

Pinterest Grad Cards

Happy Thursday, peeps!  My friend Billie came over on Monday to make a couple of graduation cards and we needed some ideas, so we trolled Pinterest to get some! I apologize for the photos..they were taken on my kitchen table, LOL!

Billie's grandson will be graduating soon, and his school colors were navy and burnt orange, so we made a card for him based on this card by demo Doris Denman, found on Pinterest:

We used French Script, stamped on a piece of scrap computer paper to create the diploma;  a couple of Paper Pumpkin sets for the sentiment, and Large Numbers dies for the numbers; the inside used a retired set called Adventure Awaits!

Her nephew will also be graduating from the Philadelphia Police Academy, so we thought stars would be a great theme for his card, based on this card from SUO Challenges; unfortunately, I couldn't figure out which designer actually made the card to give her credit!  We used the Lucky Stars EF, a Nestie star die set and Watercolor Wishes for the sentiment:

We had such a good time stamping together!  Billie was one of my very first demonstrators and has been my stamping companion for over 15 years!

No Cassidy pix today, but I wanted to share the mermaid blanket Dana crocheted for Cassidy...looks warm and toasty, doesn't it?!  Her own pattern too, my clever girl!

Roofers were here on Tuesday and should be finished on Friday...the weather has not been cooperative this week like it was last week!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP342 CAS Leaves

Hi everyone!  Sunday is here and that means another Paper Players challenge!  Jaydee is our lovely hostess with a tic-tac-toe theme!  I chose the center column:

Displaying pp342.jpg

Since I cannot seem to get my act together lately, another CAS creation is in the cards for me today! I went searching for a sketch and found this one from CAS(E) this Sketch by my sweet friend, Jen:

I took a thick white card base and masked it off, then stamped a tiny portion from the retired French Script background stamp in Cucumber Crush ink, then added some diecut Vintage Leaves:

A sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs and a few sequins, and it was done!  The inside features another leaf and a sentiment from Cottage Greetings!

Be sure to check out the PP blog where you can see ALL the creations from the Design Team...so many different interpretations of the tic-tac-toe grid!  What will YOU create?  Share it with us, please!

Mommy bought Cassidy a little Usborne art book complete with wee little rubber stamps featuring different shapes, along with some little ink pads.  There are pictures in the book that you can embellish with the shapes!  It's so cute and fun!

Here she added a bow tie (backwards, oops!) to the boy, and hairbows to the girls' hair!  It looks like so much fun, I want to play too!  I share my stamps and ink, right?!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
