AHSC599 Fall Birthday

Happy Monday, peeps! Time for a new Atlantic Hearts Sketch and I pulled out some retired stamps and some new stamps for my card!  Here's the sketch:

I had originally planned for this card to go to my pastor, but I got a bit carried away with colors and layers, and he is definitely a "plain" kinda guy, so I'll save this for someone else, LOL!  I used the retied Forever Fern and the new Simply Said sets in some gray, gold and rust shades:

I diecut a panel with the Deckled Edge Rectangle dies, then added my foliage; I diecut a matching horizontal panel in Cajun Craze and added a gingham pattern to it, then added my birthday sentiment on top:

My Soft Stone (Papertrey) card was embossed with the Cane Weave embossing folder, and on the inside, I added an Unbounded Love sentiment diecut with a Timeless Arrangements die:

So it will be back to the drawing board for a new card for my pastor, but meanwhile, I have a new card for my birthday stash!  I hope you'll play along with us...we love to see your take on our sketches at Atlantic Hearts!

Inspired By Nature in Purple

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Laurel Seabrook has a pretty Inspired By Nature photo inspiration today as well as a fun sketch:

Isn't this pretty?  Are there really purple mushrooms in real life?  Not sure!  Anyway, I usually RUN from shades of purple, but I thought I would challenge myself.  I used the sketch as well as some purple cardstocks, so here we go:

I used panels of Purple Posy (retired), Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather for my layers.  I used some dies to cut some scalloped panels, then added some embossed pieces on top.  The smallest layer is a diecut tag; I stamped the words from Quiet Meadow in Craft white ink, then added a spring stamped in Soft Seafoam on top, and embellished it with some Linen Thread:

My final addition was an embossed sentiment on a little banner of Soft Seafoam:

I am also entering this at Little Red Wagon this week, which is asking for layers! Definitely out of my comfort zone, but hopefully someone will enjoy receiving it!  And it was fun to use some retired as well as retiring products!  Thanks for popping in today; enjoy it and be blessed!

TGIF413 Embossed Vellum

Happy Monday, peeps!  Well, the sun is shining right now....although that will change by this afternoon, I am happy to see it nonetheless!  My card today features vellum, for the TGIF413 challenge to use it!

It's easy to forget about vellum, what with all the pretty cardstock and designer paper we have at our disposal!  SU has some printed vellum in the current catalog, so I decided to combine it with some embossed vellum images to create my card today. First, let me say that I am still on the fence about this card; I rarely combine white and vanilla on a card, but I was trying to go out of my comfort zone and let's just say I'll probably stick to using one of them at a time!  But anyway, here it is:

My base is Soft Seafoam, on which I layered a Very Vanilla panel embossed with the Timeworn Type EF.  I created a little frame with some Pear Pizzazz cardstock and a Scalloped Contour die and put my Layering Designs vellum underneath. I couldn't really see the print with the Vanilla background, so I added another piece of Pear Pizzazz under it, which worked better.

The greenery is from Forever Fern; they're stamped and embossed in white, then diecut with the matching dies.  I created a little tag for my sentiment and added a Rustic Metallic brad as well as some gold thread to "tie" my sprig together:

This is already winging its way to its intended recipient!  Thanks for popping in today!

Our church's missions team held a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday night complete with entertainment, and it was so much fun! You can just see the top of John's head at our table:

The children of the families going on the trip were the servers, including our pastor's children Lydia, Luke and Micah, in their snazzy "uniforms":

Joshua, the youngest, didn't make it past 8 pm.  As I was helping to tidy up, I noticed the blanket on the couch in the lounge area was rumpled, so as I went to straighten it, I saw a little head and little feet!  He was one tired little boy!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied.  Luke 6:21a

SS298 Chalkboard Christmas

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  I am still making Christmas cards....just because there still so many fun challenges out there and I have so many stamps!  Today my card uses the sketch from Sunday Stamps:

I wanted to do something a bit different, so I decided to do a chalkboard card...not all the stamping is "chalkboard", mostly the background; well, I pretty much covered that up too, LOL!  But here we go:

I used stamps from Forever Fern, inking them in Craft White ink on some retired chalkboard paper, then giving them a good dusting with some white pastels.  I diecut some greenery from the retired Cardinals dies, and created a sparkly off-white poinsettia with the retired Poinsettia dies and Vanilla Glimmer paper:

I added some red berries and a couple random flowers for a little more interest.  The sentiment was stamped in Real Red on some woodgrain paper and diecut, then matted with Real Red; the inside of the Real Red card has a little scrap of the reverse side of the woodgrain paper and another sentiment from the same set, Christmas Blessings from Simon Says Stamp:

Thanks for popping by today!

The pups all dressed up to go Christmas tree chopping!

Eden was a naughty girl though; she broke out of her harness and got into someone else's car!!!  I think she didn't like the netting machine, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Forever Fern Hello

Happy Friday, everyone!  Hope you have some fun plans for the weekend!  I have a card with an interesting color palette today!  It uses the sketch from FMS and the colors from Just Add Ink; I admit I was very skeptical but I like to challenge myself, so I persevered!  Here are the prompts:

And here we go:

I confess that when I first glanced at the sketch, I thought the panels were even, but it seems they are a little different; hopefully the DT won't throw it out, LOL!  I did take liberty with using a tag instead of a circle element, stamping the foliage from Forever Fern in the three challenge colors and arranging them on it.  Before adhering them, I embossed the tag with the Timeworn Type embossing folder:

I diecut a sentiment with a Stylish Shapes dies, added some sequins (which really match better in real life, LOL!) and glittery ribbon and mounted everything on a Petal Pink 4 1/4" square card!  Oh, and I did make the tag a wee bit shorter by repositioning it in my die and cutting off just the end!  Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

CTD715 Fall Forever Fern

Happy Friday, peeps!  Yay, it's the weekend!  I needed a thank you card, and when I saw the Color Throwdown palette, I thought I would start there!  The colors could be for Halloween but I chose instead to create a fall-ish card using Forever Fern.  Here's the palette:

And here's my card:

I stamped the images in Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive, diecutting some to put in the foreground.  I added some speckles and a sentiment from Friends are Like Seashells, and a bow from Cottage Wreaths:

I added two borders from some Old Olive DSP, one a stripe and one a polka dot which qualifies it (barely) for the Little Red Wagon challenge of dots/stripes!  And it's already out in the mail!  Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy came over for a couple of hours last weekend and I helped her make a cake for math class!  They are learning fractions, so she had to choose a recipe that had at least four ingredients that were fractions!  She chose Kim's Buttermilk Spice Cake and thankfully I had all the ingredients!  She's pretty good on the fractions, and even knew how to substitute when one of the measuring cups had already been used!  She did a great job but took the cake home before it was iced...Grampy was  upset because he wanted a piece, so maybe I'll make one today for him!

Thanks for stopping in today..enjoy it and be blessed!

Sending Hugs

Happy Thursday, peeps!  If you're down in the southeastern portion of the US, we're praying for you!  We have been getting a lot of wind here in PA, but nothing compared to what's happening there!

A sweet lady from church is recovering from a fall and subsequent hip surgery, so I thought I'd send a get well message using the sketch from CAS Colours & Sketches as well as the monochromatic challenge from SUO Challenges:

I chose neutrals as my color scheme...I was thinking that maybe as a get-well, I should have used something brighter and more cheery, but I had already begun and hopefully she'll like it regardless!  So here we go:

I used Very Vanilla and Sahara Sand cardstocks, and Sahara Sand ink for the foliage, which is from Forever Fern and Eden's Garden.  The sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede:

I tied a little Linen Thread bow to my foliage for an extra embellishment.  Here's the inside, and I added another extra diecut as well:

Thanks for popping in today!

Wayne is on a business trip in Washington state, checking out the apples!  He must be getting a bird's-eye view as he snagged a helicopter ride!

Fun!  Thanks for popping in today---enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC490 Leafy Hello

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I made a quick fall card using the sketch from Atlantic Hearts:

I am not feeling very creative lately; this took me three tries to get something I even vaguely liked!  I started with a Crumb Cake mat that I embossed with the Stitched Greenery die, then watercolored with Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and Old Olive inks:

I added a few diecut leaves that were embossed with the Subtle embossing folder, and mounted them on a Very Vanilla square, matted with Old Olive and Crumb Cake.  The sentiment is from Forever Fern, and I used a simple bow of embroidery floss to embellish it:

It went on a Real Red card base and I called it done!  Thanks for popping in today!

Dana & Wayne went to Nashville for their anniversary!

My sister from SC was there as well for a bridal shower; what are the chances in a city of thousands that the two of them would catch up with each other?!

Now everyone is home safe & sound! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SSC286 Sending Hugs

Happy Monday, peeps! Hope you had a good weekend.  Ours was full of wonderful weather!!  Just delightful! I have another card using Rings of Love designer paper from the upcoming SAB catalog...sorry, I just can't stop using it! I really like the fall colors in this design!  Here we go:

And I used the sketch from Sunday Stamps:

I layered a panel of the DSP with a couple of Poppy Parade Scalloped Contour borders and some Crushed Curry plaid DSP.  Unfortunately, I don't have any current "leafy" stamps, so I stamped one of the images from Forever Fern and a sentiment from Eden's Garden on my cut-down Tailor Made Tag and added some Real Red Linen Braid trim:

Everything was layered on a Crumb Cake card base that was embossed with the Timber embossing folder.  Love these papers!!  Thanks for popping in today!

Definitely not fall-like...a bit of ice cream after a day at the pool and some sunburned cheeks!  Good thing Mommy had some aloe!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Sympathy Cards

Hey stampers!  Our church family is mourning the loss of one of our members and she came from a large family, so I have had to make several sympathy cards.  I am sharing two of them today; one uses the sketch from Atlantic Hearts:

and some of the same papers that I used on my bunnies card from yesterday, just different prints:

I layered some of the patterns on the front, embossing one piece with the retiring Greenery embossing folder, then created a little bundle of foliage using the Forever Fern and Free as a Bird sets and various green inks:

I "tied" them together with some Fan Baker's Twine and added a few green Genial Gems, and it all went on top of a Stitched Shape circle.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

The second card uses the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

and some pretty new papers I just got from Prima called Farm Sweet Farm.  I paired them with a flower from the retiring All Things Fabulous:

The layered flower was stamped with Sweet Sugarplum, Cherry Cobbler and Merry Merlot inks, and the foliage was stamped with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede.  I added a sentiment from an older SU set called Small Sayings, and added a sprinkling of sequins:

I used the same sentiments for the both cards, from Papertrey.

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!
