You Are My Sunshine

Happy Saturday, peeps! I have a quick card to post before my stampers get here this morning!  It fulfills three challenges: TGIF is looking for a pocket full of posies; As You See It wants to know what  color I use the least is; and CAS on Sunday wants sunshine!

So here we go:

I knew right away I would choose yellow as my least-used color! It's not that I dislike it, I just don't gravitate towards it very often.  And that fit in perfectly with a sunshine theme!  And I admit that when I looked at the TGIF challenge, I missed the "posies" part of it, but perhaps my little image on my tag could be a sunflower?!  The sentiment is from the retired Ridiculously Awesome set, stamped in Daffodil Delight on Lemon Lolly cardstock:

I created a pocket with one of the Timeless Tag dies, stamped a sentiment from a past Paper Pumpkin on the front and added some yellow embellishments:

I then added a tag to tuck into the pocket, using the same Paper Pumpkin set to stamp the sunshine-shaped flower and added a gingham center.  The sentiment is from a Paper Studio set.

I also embossed the front with the Stitched With Whimsy die for fun.  My friend just went through some surgery, so this is going to her to cheer her up!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP526 Tic Tac Toe

Hi folks!  Wow, can you believe it's the last Sunday of January?! And we're going to get some snow today!  Yay!  It's time for a new Paper Players challenge, with Laurie as our hostess with a fun tic-tac-toe grid!  Here we go:

I usually find a couple of patterns in a package of DSP that I like a little less than the others....know what I mean?  I really like most of the SAB Paper Blooms DSP, at least the floral ones, but there is a graphic one that I just wasn't sure how to use.  When I was making encouragement cards for my TOPS friends, I noticed that the big font in the Ridiculously Awesome set might work well with that particular graphic!  So here it is:

From the tic-tac-toe board, I chose the diagonal of die-cutting, embossing and blue. I started by embossing the graphic paper with the new Stitched with Whimsy die...such a fun little border it creates! The sentiment, stamped in Night of Navy was diecut with the Stitched Nested Dies; I also cut another two more panels from Seaside Spray and stamped the little ray image on each one and added to the top of the sentiment panel  The embossed image is the heart; it was heat-embossed in white and brushed with some Wink of Stella:

I added some sequins for fun!  Finally, on the inside, I stamped another sentiment and added another embossed heart:

Another for my stash of encouragement cards!  Now, what will you create with our tic-tac-toe board?  Be sure to stop by the Paper Players blog to see what our amazing design team created!  Then share yours with us as well!  Thanks for popping in today!

On Friday as I was in working in my craft room I heard a big "THUNK" out in the kitchen...I ran out to see if something had fallen or a picture had come off the wall, but I could find nothing!  A few minutes later I noticed this:

Not sure what bird ran into my patio door but it left quite an impression! And it wasn't injured, as it flew away! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Encouragement Cards

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I have three really quick cards today.  My TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) group is having a challenge this month and we are to send notes, texts or emails to encourage each other throughout the week! Well, of course, I would choose to send some notes.  I need to make several, so I first decided to use the one-layer challenge at Always Fun to create some real simple cards using a really "retro" stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms called Weighty Matters!  Here we go:

Now remember, these are uber-simple...stamps, ink and paper (and a die and a punch) so keep that in mind!  I just love the image of this well-dressed lady freaking out at her weight....but her German shepherd doesn't seem to realize he's the cause of her distress!  She was stamped in Merry Merlot, and I used the new Stitched With Whimsy die on the front of the card for some interest.

The smaller card uses this funny pup image, gazing forlornly at the number on the scale:

I added a sentiment from the same set and some little doggie prints from the new Hot Dog sest, then added these on the inside:

And I'm going to pop one more in here....this was made with the Tailored Tag punch and some pretty coordinating DSPs....again, very simple but easy!  The sentiment is from the retired Sweet Stuff:

Hopefully they'll give my friends some encouragement!  Thanks for popping in today! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TTTC90 Gnome Tissue Holder

Hello again, stampers!  It's time for a new Tic Tac Toe challenge with Team X as on deck!  This board just happened to coincide with one of the projects that my stamp clubs made earlier in the week, so I thought I'd share it.  Here's the board; I chose Blue, Holiday and Sparkle/Shine, but I also have Plaid in there too!

And here we go:

This is an easy little tissue holder to keep in your purse or desk; it can be decorated for any season, but of course with this little gnome, he's for Christmas!!!  I will give the measurements below, it's as easy as pie!  The box itself is Seaside Spray and the gnome is from Gnome for the Holidays.  He's stamped in Memento ink and colored with Blends:

You can't see it here, but his beard and hat have been glittered up with some Wink of Stella!!  The sentiment on the front is from Itty Bitty Greetings, diecut with a little die from Smooth Sailing.  And if the girls wanted to give their little tissue holders away, they could add this to the back from Little Treats:

Such a cute little project!  Here are the measurements and quick directions:

  1. Cut cardstock to 6 ¾” x 5 ¼”
  2. Score on the longest side at 1”, 3 1/8”, 4 1/8” and 6 ¼”.
  3. Score on the shortest side at 1”.
  4. Fold and burnish all score lines.
  5. Cut out the smallest rectangle at the bottom corner.
  6. Cut v-shaped slits along the bottom, straddling the score lines, up to the horizontal score line.
  7. Decorate your box whatever way you want.  (Easier to do before adhering and assembling the box!)
  8. Apply Tear 'n Tape to the narrowest side piece and adhere box together.
  9. Fold in bottom pieces and adhere, making sure box is straight and even.
  10. Punch out a half-circle with circle punch at the front and slide in your tissues.
I hope you'll play along with our Tic Tac Toe board this week....LOTS of fun possibilities!  Share your creation with us at the TTT blog and check out the other amazing samples by the DT while you're there!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TCC139 Ridiculously Awesome

Hi stampers!  It's Wednesday and that means a new Card Concept challenge!  I took a little break from the DT, but I am back for the new season of challenges!  Take a gander at this pretty inspiration:

As a refresher, the Card Concept embraces several styles of creativity, so when you create a card, we'd like to know what your style is!  You can see all the styles here!  For my card today, I went Clean and Layered:

I was inspired by the sunflowers as well as the blackboard in the background!  I pulled out some retired SU blackboard paper and heat-embossed a sentiment from Ridiculously Awesome on it, then diecut it with a Stitched So Sweetly die and mounted it on some retired Woodgrain DSP:

After a few trial and errors, I finally got the smaller sunflower from Celebrate Sunflowers to my liking; it's stamped in Crushed Curry, colored in with Blends, and another one stamped with Cinnamon Cider, from which I cut out the center and colored and sponged it and popped it up:

I wanted to pull out some of the greens from the inspiration photo as well, so I diecut a jumbo scallop from some Shaded Spruce gingham to accent the edges, and then added a fun sentiment and diecut to the inside:

These are from Taylored Expressions and were a gift from my sweet friend Renita!  I love them!

I hope you'll find some inspiration and will play along with us this week at the Card Concept challenge!  Can't wait to see you there!

Here are a couple of funny (albeit blurry) pictures from vacation; I guess editing things before having them committed to posterity is not a big thing; this one is from a menu from a restaurant at which we had breakfast:

We love "sider" orders!  And this one was painted on three sides of a truck at a local marina, advertising boat rides to see the elusive "dolphing"!!!!

What the heck?  Doesn't anyone notice these things!!!  And finally, a gigantic pink flamingo gracing our seashore view:

Looks like fun, but I am not sure how easy it would be to get into!  Thanks for popping by today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

"So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own."
Matthew 6: 31-34

PP501 Sketch by Anne Marie

Hey there, stamping friends!  Another week has passed and it's time for another Paper Players challenge--on to the next 500, right?!  Anne Marie is our hostess this week and she's got a great sketch for us:

I had just received the set Ridiculously Awesome, which has some great bold sentiments, and thought I would use it with some new In Colors, Bumblebee and Cinnamon Cider, along with the Flowers for All Seasons DSP:

I tend to gravitate to smaller floral prints and this is one I love!  I stamped directly onto the DSP with Cinnamon Cider ink, using my Stamparatus to make sure I got good coverage.  I created a large Cinnamon Cider mat by diecutting two scalloped rectangles with the next-to-largest die from the Stitched So Sweetly set, then adhered them together to fit my DSP.  For fun, I ran it through the Ornate Floral embossing folder!  I added a diagonal panel of DSP from the same series.

I also added some Cinnamon Cider ribbon and a couple of florals from the All Things Fabulous bundle, and the sentiment is from Comfort and Hope.

And since the Inspire.Create challenge this week is to use the new In Colors, I am entering it there...even though I only used two new colors, hopefully that's okay!

I hope you'll be inspired by Anne Marie's sketch, and share your creation with us at the Players!!  Be sure to check out what the design team created as well...they always have such creative ideas!  Thanks for popping in today!

And speaking of yellow flowers.....these are sunflowers that seeded themselves from my bird feeders, with the help of my birds and a certain raccoon!

And I just managed to capture this shot of a goldfinch on my patio door screen...the sunflowers are just a hop, skip and a jump away, and I know they can't wait for those seeds!!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
