PP566 Season of Thanks

Hi there everyone!  The first Sunday of November, and Claire is our awesome Paper Players hostess!  She's got a very timely theme for us:

I should have saved my big fat turkey card for this challenge, but truthfully, I have many seasonal images in my stash of stamps that I can use, and I pulled out a couple of real oldies but goodies for my card today:

Nature's Seasonal Borders is one of my all-time favorite stamps!  I stamped the fall border with some Stazon ink on Shimmery White cardstock and watercolored my images in.  Once I was finished, I trimmed it down and mounted it on a piece of Cinnamon Cider cardstock on which I had stamped a fall image and sentiment from Harvest Home, then embossed with the Subtle embossing folder and did some sponging around the edges.   Here's a closeup of the images:

I added a couple of diecut leaves that I subtly watercolored to add a little dimension.  I just love the line images in this set, and I hope you do too!  Thanks for popping in today!  Be sure to check out what the other designers created for our thankful challenge, then share yours too at the Paper Players!

RRCB107

Happy Tuesday, stampers!  It's time for another Retro Rubber Challenge, and this week we have a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge!  They're always fun, right?  Here we go:

No photo description available.

I chose the lower row of yellow, heat embossing and ribbon or twine...but then I realized I also nailed the left column as well!  So here's my creation:

This sweet little spring line-up is from a set called Nature's Seasonal Borders...it is from 1998, and I think it might have been a hostess set.  I could not find it in Splitcoaststamper's gallery, which is quite unusual.  It comes with three more seasonal borders...one of my favorites!  I heat-embossed it in black on Thick Very Vanilla cardstock, then watercolored it with various yellow-hued inks:

I added a Crumb Cake die-cut border top and bottom, and some Linen Twine.  I also heat-embossed a sentiment from a past Paper Pumpkin kit directly on to some Gingham Gala DSP:

I finished it off by mounting everything on a Daffodil Delight card on which I stamped a few little sprigs from another Paper Pumpkin kit!  This card is already out in the mail to a special friend!

I hope you'll find something on the tic-tac-toe board to inspire you...remember, your stamps have to be at least a year old and you must tell us the age!  Have fun, be creative and share your card with us at the Retro Rubber Challenge!

The sun FINALLY came out and warmed things up enough that the fam could go for a hike on Sunday:

Eden especially enjoyed the sun!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB24 In the Garden

Hello, peeps!  It's Thursday, and you know what that means....another Inspired By challenge!  Laurel comes up with the prettiest inspiration photos!  This week challenged me a bit more than normal!  I pulled out a really "vintage" stamp set from waaaay back when I first started to stamp to create my card today:

And here is Laurel's prompt:

So.....there are lilies of the valley, a snail, and a ladybug!!  I don't really have any of these images, but I did find a little ladybug in the "spring" lineup of Nature's Seasonal Borders, circa 1998, so that's what I chose!  I stamped it in Stazon ink on some watercolor paper and used inks and an aquapainter to color in all the images:

I filled in the backgrounds with Crumb Cake to go with my Crumb Cake card, and I found some Tim Holtz Christmas paper in a deep green that mimicked the background of the inspiration photo.  I diecut it and another scrap of watercolor paper with a scalloped stitched die for a little interest.  When I went to assemble it, I noticed it sort of matched the lilies of the valley--a happy coincidence!  Finally, I added some grunge stamping and a sentiment from Colorful Seasons, stamped in white craft ink and heat-embossed, as well as a little linen thread bow:

Laurel's design team has come up with some FUN and interesting creations using this image prompt...(you need to check out Michele's especially!!!), so I hope you'll stop by the Inspired By blog and share your own snail, ladybug, or whatever you're inspired by, with us!

No Cassidy pictures today, but since her last day of school is tomorrow, I thought I would take a quick trip to Longwood Gardens since we will be busy with her activities and Tuesday was such a gorgeous day!

A panoramic view of the conservatory and fountains:

Roses and topiaries:

Clematis:

And the Italian garden fountain:

It was a quick trip, mostly for exercise and fresh air, so I didn't get a lot of pictures!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Paper Players 222 Old and New

DSCF6212

Hi stampers!  It’s Sunday, and that means another Paper Players challenge; this week it’s a Clean and Simple  from the awesome Ann, and “thank you” is our theme:

Since I have been dusting off some unloved stamp sets and inking them up lately, I came across a couple from my very early stamping days….around 2000 or 2001, maybe even earlier!  Yikes!  So when I saw Ann’s challenge, I decided to put them to use!  Say it With Scriptures has been used so much, the impressions are a little fuzzy around the edges, but I felt like they were an old friend and I didn’t want to throw them out!  I paired up this Philippians verse with the fall images from Nature’s Seasonal Borders on a notecard-sized card.  I began by stamping the sentiment in Gold Encore ink and embossing it with Gold Glory embossing powder:

Watercoloring was my absolutely first love when I began stamping!  I can’t draw worth a bean, so to have those outline images already created for me was a dream!  I could just color them in!!  I stamped this wonderful border in Stazon and used my Aquapainter to add some fall hues.  I colored in each square’s border with a gold Zig Painty pen:

To add a wee bit more gold-ness, I used Itty Bitty Backgrounds to add some Gold Encore speckle, then diecut two Lawn Fawn stitched leaves in Brushed Gold and Gold Glimmer cardstocks and adhered them under a bit of gold baker’s twine:

I just love that little extra surprise pop of gold!  Now, what will you make for our CAS Thank You challenge?!  We can’t wait to see your creations!  Be sure to check out all the designers’ submissions as well:

Did you read Highlights magazine when you were a child?  She loves it!
