PP531 Hello Spring

Hi stampers!  Happy Sunday!  It's time for a new Paper Players challenge; Claire is our hostess with this lovely theme challenge:

Oh my, so many choices!  In the end I opted to use that little bunny in the corner as my inspiration!  I pulled out one of my favorite old SU sets called Hello Spring!  And here we go:

I had this piece of retired magnolia paper on my desk for another project and although Petal Pink is a hard color for me to work with, I thought it would make a nice spring card!  I had an idea to make a wreath, but most of the wreath stamps I had were too "flimsy".  Then I remembered a fall wreath stamp that I had from Fun Stampers Journey, so after adhering my DSP to my cardstock, I stamped it in Soft Suede, then embellished it with a few little springy flowers and twigs...and of course, a bunny:

The sentiment is from the same set, although I cut it apart so that I could create a linear sentiment on a banner; I added a little Pierced Bloom diecut flower too:

I just love that little bunny!  What will inspire you from our photo?  Spring is definitely in the air, so get out your stamps, ink and paper and create something springy, then share it with us at the Paper Players blog!  Check out what the design team did as well!  Thanks for popping in today!

Dana spent a few minutes trying to teach Cassidy to crochet....not sure how long it will last, neither of them have a lot of patience, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB117 Yellow Makes Me Happy

Happy Thursday, peeps!  It's a new Inspired By challenge....one that's sure to make you "happy"!!!

I had just received some goodies in the mail, and I had so much fun with them, and the challenge, that I made two cards!  Here we go:

I had been eyeing the diagonal plaid background stamp from Concord and 9th for a while, and I finally broke down and got it!  I stamped it in Daffodil Delight and added the stitching in Granny Apple Green to make a background for my sweet little diecut tulip:

The die is also from C&9; it actually cuts the tulip and leaves as well as the stitched octagon and the skinny little frame!  I cut a few of them to create this image....I even cut the tulip twice and trimmed it so it would have more of a dimensional look.  (A tip:  I glued the frame and the center to a scrap piece of cardstock, then trimmed it by hand, so that it would be easier to handle.)  The "stem" is from a stitching set by CTMH:

And can you see my little green lady bug?  I added her just for fun, LOL!  My sentiment comes from a really, really old SU set; I cut it apart and mounted it on some red rubber mount so that I could reposition the words:

In fact, this set is SO OLD that it came mounted on a really thick, hard piece of foam; I remember the first time I bought SU sets, the foam ones were less expensive than wood-mount, so I bought a couple of them....not SU's most shining moment:

They were awkward and cumbersome to use, and you often got that dreaded "halo" around the edge of the image!  Thankfully we've come a long way! Still a really cute set and I love it!

SO when I cut out my multiples of the die, I had "leftovers", so I put some together with a few pieces of coordinating DSP to create a little birthday notecard:

I used a sentiment from the SAB Sending You Thoughts, and I embossed the bottom portion with the retired Perfect Polka Dots EF.  These colors really do make me happy!!!

I hope that there is something in our inspiration photo that will get your creative juices flowing!  Please be sure to stop by the Inspired By blog to check out the DT's creations and share yours as well!

And Dana recently sent me this picture of some florals from her yard:

My maternal grandfather was a wholesale carnation grower, and he, my uncle and my cousins all took part in running his florist business.  I joke that that particular gene did not come down to me, but it did pass on to Dana!  She's good at arranging!  Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

PP431 Spring Fever

Hi everyone!  Happy Sunday to you!  Anne Marie is our Paper Players hostess today and she has a fun spring-themed challenge:

It's decidedly un-spring-like here this weekend...we have had snow, sleet, rain and now more snow predicted for this afternoon!  March is definitely coming in like a lion!  But we can have any season we want on our crafting creations, right?!  So here is my springy creation for this week:

Spring to me means Easter, cute little bunny images and some pretty spring colors!  I used this delightful sketch from Narelle at Freshly Made Sketches:

I just love this little bunny from a long-ago set called Hello Spring, but he was facing the wrong way, so I decided to try my hand at the "reflection" technique using my SU Silicone Mat.  I had found a really good tutorial (but can't put my finger on it now....I'll work on that....) but there are good ones on the internet, so feel free to look it up!  Anyway, I stamped my bunny, cut him out and colored him with some blends, then added some retired SAB DSP from a few years back, a sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings, a few sequins, and some foliage from Jar of Love:

I cut out my mat with a Wonky Stitched die from My Favorite Things, then mounted it on a Soft Sky card base...I am still lamenting the retirement of Soft Sky, so this will go to a SPECIAL person for sure, LOL!

I hope you'll play along with our challenge this week....everyone can use some spring in their day, or their step, or wherever!!!  Check out what the Paper Players design team did as well!

Here's what we've been doing this March:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

JUGS434 Easter Basket

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Can you handle one more Easter card?  The team at JUGS has a Wild Card CAS theme this week:

and I had made this card a couple of days ago using the last image from the retired Hello Spring set:

I stamped the image in Stazon and simply colored it with some inks, then diecut it out and mounted it on a notecard of Peekaboo Peach:

I added a little Easter sentiment on the inside.  Can't get much simpler than that!

My little helper! I decided, on impulse, to redecorate my downstairs bathroom; the rest of the downstairs is finished but the bathroom wallpaper was way overdo for coming down!  Now I am on a deadline to get it painted as we have company coming on Friday!  Yikes!  You know what I'll be doing today!  She loved ripping off the wallpaper (sniff, sniff, I loved that gingham, but it was dated!):

She even took off the outlet covers....although her technique was a little unique, she got it done!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

JUGS433, SOS346 and IM343 Hello Spring

Happy Monday peeps!  It's the start of Cassidy's Easter break, so I may be MIA occasionally this week!  I did get some stamping time in over the weekend and I am submitting my simple spring/Easter card to the following challenges:

In{k}spire Me - Easter, and Just Us Girls - Photo Challenge:

as well as the Shopping Our Stash challenge of Easter as well!  So here we go:

This card combines old and new!  The DSP is from Whole Lot of Lovely, and the stamp is old, old, old....I am not sure if my friend Teri gave this to me, or I found it at a yardsale!  Anyway, it was one of the stamps that was mounted on a very thick piece of foam rubber...inexpensive, but not really comfortable to stamp with!  I took the rubber off and re-mounted it on cling-mount foam, and it's much easier to stamp with!  Anyway, the set has four stamps...the tulips, the bunny, a basket of eggs and the sentiment.  I made a mask of the bunny with a post-it note, and stamped the tulips on either side behind the bunny, then loosely colored them, and the bunny, with inks and an aquapainter:

This style of line art was what drew me to SU many years ago; I didn't get this stamp when it first came out and always regretted it, so I was happy to add it to my collection!  I finished my image by diecutting it with a stitched oval die, adding a Basic Black scallop mat and adding the sentiment directly on the DSP:

Finally, I added a pretty sentiment from Suite Sentiments (ret), and if you look very closely, you can see that I stamped the basket over the sentiment in Powder Pink:

Now to get this one, and all my others, out in the mail this week!  Thanks for popping by--enjoy your day and be blessed!

Not sure who owns whom!

PCC235 Hippity Hoppity

Hi peeps!  Happy Thursday!  My week is all messed up with everyone home for a snow day on Tuesday!  It feels like it should be Monday or something!  Anyway, I had this little bunny from an old SU set called Hello Spring (1997) stamped and just sitting on my desk, waiting to be made into a card!  When I saw the Paper Craft Crew sketch for this week, I went to work!

Visit the Paper Craft Crew and play along with Sketch Challenge 235. #pcc2017 #sketch #papercraftcrew www.papercraftcrew.com

I found some of this DSP when I made my vintage card for yesterday's post, so I decided to incorporate it into my card, along with the Elegant Dots embossing folder and some retired colors of Lost Lagoon and Baja Breeze:

I apologize for the poor photo quality; I still use my 35mm camera to take my photos, but for some reason, my computer no longer recognizes any of my camera cards, so I had to resort to taking these with my phone!  Not too bad, but I am not used to it and it feels awkward.  So until I figure out what the problem is, I am stuck with my phone, but at least I do have that!

My bunny was stamped in Palette ink and I did a wee little bit of shading with an aquapainter and some Baja Breeze ink; I added a little banner stamped with "hippity hoppity" from a really old clear set, maybe Studio G? and another banner stamped with Timeless Textures.  A little punched flower, some twine and sequins, and it was done....I'll stamp  an Easter sentiment on the inside.

And since this is such an old stamp, I am entering this also in the RetroRubber challenge of Anything Goes!

Cassidy came home yesterday with a folder filled with little encouraging notes written by all her classmates; it was hard to get the whole story out of her, but apparently they do it for one student a day.  I think because her name starts with a "C", she was one of the first!  Anyway, it was fun to watch her reaction as she read them all!

Suhavi wrote "You always blow the sadness of me!" and Zoey told her she was so funny, "He he he,"!!!  So cute!

Have a blessed day!

TSOT263 Happy Easter

Hi peeps!  I am down to the wire making my Easter cards...I think I work better under pressure, LOL!  I love things in threes so when I saw this week's Try Stampin On Tuesday sketch, I knew I had to play along!  Here's the sketch:

And here's my card....I took the liberty of switching the banner so that it didn't end up right in the bunny's face!

This is an older set called Hello Spring that my sweet friend Teri recently gifted me with...I remember it from a long time ago and always regretted never buying it!  So I am very grateful to her!  I stamped the images in Basic Black and watercolored them with Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, Cucumber Crush and Hello Honey, and the eggs with other pastel colors.  I mounted them on stitched squares of Pistachio Pudding:

The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and was cut out with an Itty Bitty Banners die.  Thanks for popping in today!

And Miss Cassidy was totally worn out by her day at the playground:

Of course, then she wasn't tired at bedtime!  Vacation days can really mess up one's routine!
