Paper Players 290 Color Challenge

Happy Thursday, peeps! A quick little card today for three challenges! The Freshly Made Sketches sketch:
The Colour Me…! monochromatic challenge of Calypso Coral and a neutral (I chose Smoky Slate):
And the Stampin’ Royalty challenge of “frilly”! So here we go:
I stamped and diecut a portion of the main image from Postage Due in Calypso Coral, then inked smaller portions on the Smoky Slate panel. I added an element from French Foliage (ret), and crimped and pleated a piece of Epic Day This & That DSP from last year to make the lower panel. I know this “frilly” piece looks orange, but it truly does match Calypso Coral in real life! My little sentiment is from Touch of Kindness (ret), and my final touch was a few little white sequins. Thanks for stopping by today!

ColourQ142
Woohoo, happy Tuesday everyone! I always look forward to Arielle’s challenges; she knows where to go for all the trendy stuff….good thing, because “trendy” would not be a word someone would use to describe me! But I can be trendy in my crafting! What do you think of this:
This reminds me of a needlepoint purse I made many, many years ago! Now when I am faced with color combinations like this, I usually revert back to my old standard “four-part harmony” sketch:
I used some fun embossing folders (Square Lattice, Houndstooth, Fancy Fan and Chevron) for three of the colors, punched them out with a 1” square punch and mounted them on a matching punchout from the Postage Stamp punch, popping them up and embellishing them each with a little doodad:
Oooh, that was the fun part! I colored the pearl with a Copic, and the Summer Starfruit Dahlia matches that Crushed Curry square pretty closely! Then I added a little sentiment from Touch of Kindness (ret) and some ruffled ribbon, both in Island Indigo:
This could be a note card or a birthday card, or a get-well card! Hope you are inspired to play along with us this week---share your creation over at the ColourQ blog, and be prepared to be “wowed” by all the DT samples!
Here’s a photo of Cassidy I took last month; I was playing around with Picasa, trying to learn some special effects:

More Projects
Happy Saturday to everyone! I have a busy day, so I am posting a few more samples from the Summer mini that I made recently, along with my other club project here:
I used the same frame technique as shown in my last club post; this frame is made with a 3x3” piece of cardstock. Taking your Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch, center it on each side of the square and punch once! That’s it! I cannot remember where I saw this, so I don’t know who to credit for such a clever idea! This little kitty from A Touch of Kindness is colored with Watercolor Crayons and an aquapainter. The DP is Blueberry Crisp. Here are a couple others I made using this set:
Just to show you don’t have to color in this image; it’s cute just stamped in Rose Red!
And finally, a little 3x3 note card with a “ruffle” of Sweet & Sour DP around the image! I think I’d better give the kitty a break and use the other images in that set!
And finally, I did get the Fabulous Florets (I was trying to resist) and did a very quick & easy emboss resist card with the silhouette image:
Here’s a closer look at the embossing, done on Textured Whisper White:
Thanks for visiting! Now I’m off to yardsale & shop with DD & DGD! If you have any questions about any of the projects, just email me!

Another Cat
Happy Monday! I spent most of the weekend with friends and family so did not stamp much! I did have a chance to do a little this morning, but I am afraid you’re going to get tired of this little kitten from the Touch of Kindness set (new summer mini), but she is just so cute, I can’t help myself. I needed a special thank-you for a special someone, so I pulled out some bright DPs and made a real simple card with my little watercolored kitty:
I just did some loose watercoloring with reinkers and my aquapainter:
And so you don’t think this is the only stamp set on my desk, here’s a REAL easy one using The Open Sea set, again from the new summer mini:
I forgot to write down whose blog had the idea for this great frame; hopefully someone will step forward and claim it. I’ll be sharing the directions for this later in the week! Or you can email me if you can’t wait, or if you need any other questions answered! And remember, I have a link to all the Stampin’Up! catalogs on my sidebar! Have a great day!

ColourQ 82
Happy Tuesday! Arielle’s ColourQ colors today are sweet, sweet, sweet:
I once had a teacher in college tell me I must have a very warm personality because all of my fashion illustrations were blues & greens---to offset that warmth, I guess! It is no secret I love blues, and green is just a natural go-with color! I just received a sweet little set coming out in the Summer Mini called Touch of Kindness, and these colors just seemed to fit this image to a “T”!
I did some watercoloring with reinkers and an aquapainter on the main image; colored the highlighted letters in the sentiment with an Always Artichoke marker after inking the whole thing first in Baja Breeze, and then made my background by stamping a couple images from Funky Four in craft white ink on Kiwi Kiss and Pear Pizzazz panels. I even added a little gel pen glimmer on the water drops! Cute! And here’s the inside:
Be sure to splash on over to the CQC blog so you can see what the other designers created, as well as share you own creation! Can’t wait!
