Celebrate You

Happy Monday, peeps! Just a quick post today; Friday was Dana's birthday and we weren't able to celebrate it with her on the day as she was standing for her best friend at her wedding!  So we got together over the weekend at PF Chang's (no pictures, oops) and had a birthday dinner.  Here's her card; I was experimenting with some "fun fold" techniques:

It uses a 12" piece of DSP (in this case, I used two 6" pieces!), cut to 5 1/4" then scored and folded at 2" and 4" from each end.  The top section on each side is cut from the 4" score down 2" to create a triangle.  The triangles are then flipped over and adhered to the bottom section of the DSP on the inside and folded back and forth to meet in the middle:

I used some Carta Bella's Gather papers for this card, and I covered the "seam" on the inside back with another strip of paper.  It all got adhered to a Blushing Bride mat of 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  The belly band on the front was stamped with a sentiment from Suite Sayings and the inside sentiment was from Hooray for Surprises, both in the retired Soft Succulent ink:

A fun fold for my sweet daughter!  I am going to enter this over at the Creative Creases Challenge, where they are always looking for fun folds!  Thanks for popping by today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Dana's and Wayne's newlywed friends Billy and Lisa:

What a pretty background for a courthouse wedding!!  They look so happy!  Congratulations!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB224 Over The Top Easter Basket

Happy Friday, all! Yay, the weekend is here! I haven't played with the girls over at Retro Rubber lately, and now that Valentine's Day is past, I decided to focus on some Easter cards.  They have a sketch this week:

I always loved the Basket Bunch bundle from 2017, and I never got a chance to use it that much! So of course, I went overboard with all the little elements in the set...I kept stamping and diecutting and coloring, well...it's easy to go "over the top"!  So here we go:

All the images were stamped in Versafine Black ink, then colored with ink and an aquapainter, except for the leaves and stems of the flowers and the basket--they're Granny Apple Green and Crumb Cake:

I used a piece of retired plaid Crushed Curry DSP for the circle in the background (which you can barely see) and some retired yellow sequins for embellishments.  A sentiment from Suite Sayings (2016) was stamped on the inside with Balmy Blue, along with a few unused diecuts!

Thanks for visiting today!

Eden is such a funny dog:

Maybe her nose was itchy?  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB152 Happy Easter Day

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  It's time for a new Retro Rubber challenge, where we give some of our older stamps some love!  We have a sketch for you this week...love sketches!

This may be one of the busiest cards I've made in a while!!!  Once I got started, I couldn't stop adding more little bits and pieces to it!  Here we go:

Remember this cute set?  Basket Bunch came out in 2017, and again, I barely had time to play with it before it retired!  I might have made up for it on this one card, LOL!  The DSPs are several from a few years ago; the card base is Very Vanilla with a Balmy Blue mat (although I should have used Soft Sky), and the bunny and all the accoutrements are stamped on Whisper White, colored with Blends and die cut with the matching Basket Builder Framelets!

The sentiment banner is from last year's Itty Bitty Greetings.  Aren't all the eggs so cute?

I used a sentiment from Suite Sayings (2016) for the inside:

The design team has come up with a lot of fun ideas for this sketch and we hope you'll play along at Retro Rubber!  Just be sure to share the age of the stamps that you use...they must be at least a year old!  Can't wait to see what you create!  Thanks for popping in today!

Today is Dana's birthday and we had a little get-together on Sunday!  Happy Birthday, Dana!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Two Baby Cards for CASCSC308

Hi everyone!  Hope your week is going by nicely!  I think we are finally out of this snowy, rainy, sleety wet weather we've been having!  Keeping my fingers crossed anyway!

I needed two baby cards this week; one for a friend who welcomed a little boy into their family of two boys and four girls, and another for a friend who became a first-time grandmother, welcoming a little girl!  I used the CAS Colours and Sketches sketch for both of them:

So here we go:

My camera captured these colors a bit wonky; in real life, they match nicely!  I used the Be Mine framelits and a retired heart punch to create my trio of hearts, and I used two retired sets, PS:  I Love You for the Blushing Bride stamped heart, and Suite Sayings for the sentiment.  I added another little piece of MFT gingham to peek out under the scalloped bottom too!   I heat-embossed the sentiment on some vellum and tucked a little Powder Pink ribbon behind it to "peek" through:

I combined two sentiments to stamp the inside as well:

The boy card is the same, except I used Balmy Blue, some Marina Mist ribbon and I didn't add the scallop at the bottom.  I substituted some Gingham Gala sequins for the pearls!

I am also entering this in the Stamp Ink Paper challenge this week, which is vellum!

Happy that you popped it today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Cassidy made a "snow chair"...looks like she is definitely chillin'!

IB37 Time to Bake

Hi peeps!  Yay, it's Thursday...the weekend is almost here and we've got a full one coming up!  How do they fill up so quickly?!  Anyway, Laurel has a sweet little inspiration for us today at Inspired By!  Gave me a chance to use some of my Apron Builder dies!  Check it out:

And here is her prompt:

I used to have some of these vintage red-handled utensils, too....but along the way they got discarded or yard-saled, LOL!  I will just have to enjoy them vicariously through my stamping!  I liked the way the photo lined them up, so I die-cut each one out of some watercolor paper, backing it with an Adhesive Sheet so that I could glue them down easily!  I colored them with some ink and an aquapainter before mounting them, all in a row, on a piece of Bo Bunny paper from their Kiss the Cook line; if you look closely, you can see there are little utensils printed on the paper:

Before mounting it on a piece of Soft Suede that had been diecut with a Stitched Rectangle die, I stamped a sentiment from Suite Sayings and added a little heart embellishment:

I mounted that on another piece of paper from the same series and adhered it to a white card base!  Such a fun inspiration and I enjoyed playing with these dies, too!  Now we want to see what you create with this inspiration...it could be the utensils, the colors, anything!  Share it with us at the IB blog...can't wait to see you there!

My great-nephew Sawyer looks so much like his brother Jamison, I almost couldn't tell them apart!

Cassidy was in her glory!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CASCSC269 Lilac Wedding

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  My sister needed a wedding card...'tis the season, I guess...and I am pretty sure the bride is a fan of lavender, so I used the CAS Colours and Sketches sketch:

and some pretty Graphics 45 papers to create a card for her:

I had to remind myself that the challenge is "clean and simple" so I didn't add a lot of embellishments!  The sentiment is from Suite Sayings (ret), stamped in Elegant Eggplant, and I added a little flower from W+9's Freehand Florals set, stamped in Almost Amethyst and Wisteria Wonder, with a leaf stamped in Wild Wasabi:

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Better Together and added another floral:

All the cardstock is Papertrey's Rustic White!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

The family went on a little hike on Sunday:

Everyone's squinting!  What's that bright thing in the sky?  Oh, it's the SUN!  It made an appearance for a couple of days and now it's gone again!  Hopefully it will be back tomorrow!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RetroRubber 82 and Some News!

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I am so excited, I finally get to share some news!  I've been asked to join the Retro Rubber design team!  And for a giggle, here's my "retro" photo....second grade (how I hated this picture), circa 1961:

As someone who's been stamping for 20-plus years, I certainly have lots of "retro" stamps and love to use them!  If you're not familiar with the challenge, it requires using stamps that are at least a year old, and you must tell the approximate age in your post.  For this week's challenge, we've got a tic-tac-toe from Jan!  Check it out:

No automatic alt text available.

I chose the left column:  pink, twine and birthday, and I used a set from 2011 called Array of Sunshine, and a set from 2016 called Suite Sayings...and here we go:

The papers are all from PhotoPlay, called French Flea Market; I stamped the florals directly onto some scripty paper in Blushing Bride and fussy-cut them out:

I diecut the leaves with the Flower Fair Framelits, then folded them and put them through my crimper....remember that nifty little tool?  When you unfold the leaf, it creates a very cool effect with a fun texture!  My final touches were some thick Very Vanilla baker's twine and a few little sequins tucked in here and there!  Oh, and I did stamp a sentiment at the bottom of the card as well!

I love tic-tac-toe challenges---so many choices!  I hope you'll play along with us; you have ten days  to play, then share it with us at the RetroRubber blog!  And if you have SU stamps and you're stuck and can't remember when they were released, you can locate almost any SU stamp set at Splitcoaststampers!  Just go to the SU gallery and scroll down; the sets are listed alphabetically and have the issue date!  Thanks for popping in today!

We had half day at school yesterday so the little boy across the road came over to play some games; this one is a Cat in the Hat game; you assemble a nerf-like limbo setup, then draw cards to tell you to some silly activity which might involve a book, a cake, a dress, etc. (all pieces that come with the game):

You might have to carry a ball on your belly while you tiptoe around the limbo poles, or try to jump over the limbo pole with something held between your legs:

There were lots of giggles, running, jumping, falling, and goofing around.  I will be glad when the weather gets warmer and they can run around outside!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

MOJO489 Avant Garden Celebrate You

'

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Hope your weekend is going well so far!  I have another birthday card today; this one uses Avant Garden because it will be retiring soon and I want to get some use out of it!  I used the Mojo Monday sketch:

I started with an Island Indigo card base and added some retired Sahara Sand DSP and a circle of Blooms and Bliss DSP:

I noticed that the flower from Avant Garden was very similar to the flowers on the DSP, so I stamped one, along with the center, and cut them out for my embellishment.  The Island Indigo ink was a little too blue, so I inked up my stamp with a wee little bit of Mint Macaron first, then added the Indigo ink, and I think I managed to match it fairly well!  I added a pretty sentiment from Suite Sayings, a few little speckles, a scalloped circle mat, and it was done!

Have a great weekend and be blessed!

I am scrambling to find pictures of Cassidy---we haven't been doing any fun activities, and it's been too cold outside, but I did find this one from before St Patrick's Day!  My friend Maryanne made these wee little leprechaun boxes filled with candy for all my stampers at my last Cards & Coffee....Cassidy thought they were really fun, and so did I!

Maryanne is amazing!  Thanks, Maryanne!

Be sure to come back tomorrow for the next Paper Players challenge too!  See you then!
