Paper Players 89

DSCF0130

Happy Sunday—Happy PALM Sunday—Happy APRIL!  It’s proving to be a beautiful day here in SE PA, I hope it’s nice where you are too!  Today’s Paper Players theme is hosted by Anne Marie, and it’s a good one!  Whaddya think?

When I first saw the challenge, I thought “UH OH!”  I don’t do “funny” too well.  As a child, I can remember my mom ALWAYS buying funny cards for my dad!  And I rarely do---not that I don’t have a good sense of humor, or love a good joke, but I usually make a more thoughtful card!  But I did dig around and found some “punny” stamps---I must have used them at one time---and dusted them off for my Tickle your Funnybone card:

I had just printed out these fun digital papers, and I thought they would go with my “chicken up on you” creation!  Just a little note about the sentiment; my friend Marisa just had on her blog that she was nervous about cutting her stamps apart to use a partial sentiment.  This clear stamp sentiment was on one line, but I snipped it in half so that it would be easier to fit in the corner.  It was much simpler to ink and line up the two separate sets of words than trying to ink just a portion of the stamp, and it’s very easy to line the two pieces back up.  So don’t be afraid!!   Fun colors, a fun sketch #234 from the Mojo Monday blog, and I was on my way:

Really, this was a simple card to make….I just used some layers, a couple brads and paper-pieced my chicks; the most challenging part was drawing in the grass with my marker.  Oh, I added a heart from the Owl Builder punch, and a tiny little rhinestone accent.  I know just to whom this card is going, too! I hope YOU can play along with us---we all need a good funny-bone tickle now and then, so I can’t wait to see what you create.  You can find all the details over at the Paper Players blog, and while you’re there, you can laugh at the what the other designers have come up with.  I have already gotten a hoot out of some of the cards!  And I am REALLY excited because my sweet friend Shirley, at Cute Stuff by Shirley, (who has the FUNNIEST, CUTEST cards) is our guest designer!!!  So be sure to check out her card as well!

ColourQ 50

cqc50

Happy Tuesday to everyone, and it is a happy sunny one here in PA!  Aren’t these fun colors for an almost-fall day?  The ColourQ maven Arielle has chosen some of Stampin’Up!’s new In Colors for our palette this week!  I have back-to-school on my mind….isn’t it funny how even though I’ve been out of school for many, many years, this time of year still evokes those feelings of anticipation…shopping for new clothes, seeing old friends, the smell of  cafeteria food and well, you get the picture!  Anyway, I pulled out a Kim Hughes set for my back-to-school CQC card today:

I used the Fall to Layout 107 for my sketch (sort of):

and used several of the Patterns DP from SU to incorporate my colors.  This is such a fun set…..I kept getting ideas for using all the little elements, so you may see it again this week!  We’d love to have you play along with these fun fall colors, so scoot along over to the ColourQ blog and see what the other designers did…..and show us what YOU can do!  Even if you don’t have these exact colors, you can use something close!  So hop to it!

Easter Treat Boxes

DSCF7384-1

A quick post today; this is for the JUGS Challenge #26, a template challenge.  I have used a freebie box from Lauren Meader, and the link for that can be found on the JUGS blog…the other one was from SCS and that can be found here, courtesy of Kris!  So here are my boxes, which will be filled with jelly beans & sent to my niece & nephew:

And the top of the carrot box:

All cardstock is SU:  Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie & Garden Green; carrot box DP is SU’s Sweet Pea; square box DP is from K&Company.  Images are Kim Hughes.  The bunny on the square box was actually cut apart and attached to the back of the egg to make him taller!  Now I am off!  Thanks for visiting today!

Hoppy Easter Sketch

DSCF7347-1

Good gracious, after a frustrating morning trying to make chocolate-covered butter cream Easter eggs (and I’m not finished yet) I decided to take a break and make a fun, EASY card with Barbara’s sweet simple sketch from Crazy 4 Challenges shown here:

I’ve been hoarding this Bloom paper for a while, but I needed some fresh spring inspiration, so I decided to bring it on!  I just love it!  The little bunny from Kim Hughes just makes me smile too!  Now as I was posting this card, I thought that the little bunny was just looking kind of plain…..so I went back to my table, stamped a little flower and added it just so:

Ahh, that’s better!   He looks much cuter with that sweet little flower!!!  Thanks for visiting today….back to the messy chocolates!
