TO275 Life is Short

Happy Thursday, peeps! The Time Out Challenge this week is a fun one, and it gave me a chance to use a set I hadn't gotten inky yet, along with some dies that hadn't seen any action yet!  Here's the challenge:

I had gotten this What's Cookin' stamp from Taylored Expressions a while ago, so I pulled it out, along with its matching dies and another die set called Bake Me Happy.  I had some fun baking-related papers so I mixed and matched them all together to create this:

I have a friend whose birthday is coming up, and she is an excellent cook, so this will be for her.  I tried to match the colors to the little mixers on the paper; I used Poppy Parade, Garden Green, Crushed Curry and Bubble Bath.  The beater is a scrap of silver foil, and I stamped a little flower on the bowl:

This sentiment just cracks me up; she likes humorous cards, so I hope she'll like it too!

Thanks for popping in today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS643 Land That I Love

Happy 4th of July! We have a lazy day and I'm having trouble getting started today!  The FMS sketch from Linda was a fun one to use for a patriotic theme!

I pulled out a couple of patriotic stamps and here's what I came up with:

I stamped one image from SU's retired Star-Spangled Banner in each color of Real Red and Blueberry Bushel, then did some paper piecing for my center panel.  I diecut it with a Perennial Postage die, although I did have to run it through two times to get the shape I wanted!  I added some diecut stars behind the image:

The sentiment was from a really old set from Mark's Finest, called American Made; it was diecut and I added some Bitty Banner diecuts behind it:

Another image and sentiment from Mark's Finest went on the inside:

And since the Time Out Challenge is featuring stars this week, I'm entering it there as well!

Happy Independence Day!  And here's a funny photo for you, totally not related to the 4th of July, sent to me by my sister in South Carolina:

I could use some of those pencils while doing my crossword puzzles every day!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

40th Anniversary Card

Happy Monday, peeps! Hope you had a lovely weekend.  My friend Robyn, who is also my co-worker at church as well as a crafty stamper herself, has been working at our church for FORTY years!  Wow!  She has seen lots of changes in her many years and has still maintained her positive spirit and love of the Lord! We managed to surprise her yesterday with a big luncheon!  And of course, I had to make her a card in her favorite color of purple!

I stamped the florals from Dainty Delight in Stazon Black, then watercolored them and diecut them with the matching dies.  Although you can't see it very well in the photo, the horizontal panel is Glimmer Paper, which gave it a wonderful sparkle!  A little scalloped panel of Mint Macaron, and it all went on a piece of Gorgeous Grape dsp.

I added some sparkly ribbon and a little tag from Our Daily Bread Designs, and stamped a congrats on the inside:

I used the sketch from Just Add Ink:

And I am also entering this at the Time Out Challenges this week where they want something sparkly!

I had to share this from the luncheon yesterday; Robyn loves chocolate, so her daughters and several others made chocolate desserts.  There was quite an array from which to choose:

LOL!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Gratitude Changes Everything

Happy Friday, peeps! Yay, the weekend is here!  My card today is for the Shopping Our Stash challenge,  which features some gorgeous regal shades, and I used the sketch from Inspired By; the theme was adorable but I had been thinking about these images for a couple of days and the sketch fit, so I went with it!  Here are the prompts:

So my images aren't quite to scale like the sketch, but hopefully it will be okay! Here we go:

I stamped these Fall: Take Three Papertrey images in Old Olive, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie, then used a W+9 die to cut them out.  The sentiment is from a Right at Home set called Grateful Heart:

To give some interest to the Pretty Peacock background, I first stamped it with the retired Linen background stamp, then embosssed it with the Cane Weave embossing folder.  If you look closely, you can see the "weave".  I added a little Linen braid trim because in the photo, the rug and lamp are natural colored and I liked the contrast.  On the inside, a sentiment from the PTI set:

I think these rich jewel tones are just beautiful!  And I am going to pop this in over at the Time Out challenge  as well, as their theme is gratitude:

Thanks for visiting today!

A few more pictures from Longwood:

These are certainly jewel-toned as well!  Nature is beautiful!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TOC249 Vintage Halloween

Happy Satuarday, peeps! Is it raining where you are? It's gone from beautiful sun to gray clouds and lots of rain predicted!  A perfect day to stay inside and stamp!  The challenge at Time Out this week is vintage..I LOVE vintage, especially when the images feature little children..and Halloween!

I have lots of images saved, so I printed one out and created this:

This is a fairly large card, 4 5/8" x 6 1/4", so I could use a larger image.  I used some subdued Halloween prints for the background, sponged the edges of my image, added a Pecan Pie mat as well as some Tim Holtz stickers, a vintage glitter star and some ribbon:

This little image really makes me feel nostalgic.  I can remember my dad teasing us around Halloween, saying "The goblins will getcha if you don't watch out!"  I happened to find a poem by James Whitcomb Riley called Little Orphant Annie, and I imagine that is where it came from.  His teacher probably read it to him at school.  Riley uses a lot of country idioms so you have to use your imagination when reading it but it does have a good moral!  You can see it HERE.

A Crafty Secrets vintage Halloween sentiment went on the inside, along with a cute little ghost from an unmarked set:

And since I told you I love vintage, here is a vintage postcard from my own collection:

This postcard is 110 years old and still looks amazing!  There is gold on several of the images and it's perfect. On the back, it has the message "I hope you may have this kind of a time" to my great-uncles Taylor and Hutchison Thompson from their Uncle John.  They would have been 21 and 25 years old at the time!  Check out the address...no road, just a town. Obviously the mailman knew where they lived! The stamp is one cent and the postmark says Lemont, PA, 1913.

My grandmother probably kept this because they all lived on the family farm.  Thanks for indulging me a bit of vintage Halloween history!  And thanks for popping in--enjoy your day and be blessed!

InkSpire Me Going to the Beach

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I have a fun card today or a few challenges!  First, I'll show you the card:

And here are the challenges:  In(k)Spire Me has a sketch and colors:

and Time Out Challenges has a tropical theme:

I pulled out a fun SU kit called A Little Smile; it had some tiny note cards that already had sand and surf on them!  I cut one down to a 2" square, stamped a starfish from the same kit and added a sparkly sand dollar, also from the kit:

The sentiment is from the same kit; the horizontal piece is a punch-out from the He's The Man DSP; I cut it in half, sponged the edges and layered them together, then added some Linen Thread.  My square scalloped mat is Bermuda Bay, and I added a few sequins from my stash for sparkle.  It all went on a Pool Party card that was embossed with the Seashells embossing folder.  I left the inside unstamped so I can use it for whatever occasion that might come up!  I really like how this turned out!  Thanks for popping in today!

Three for the Fourth

Hi peeps, Happy 4th of July to my American friends!  I had a very crafty day yesterday, plus I got almost everything on my "to-do" list done!  It was a productive day!  I have three cards to share, for several challenges...I don't do that too often, so bear with me!

The first is for FMS; I needed a birthday card for a very special lady at church.  She is a tower of strength despite illness and losing her daughter, always volunteers to help for anything that is going on at church, even before I ask,  and has the most positive attitude and cheerful smile ever!  I haven't used these pretty Peony Garden papers, even though they have lots of Petal Pink  (not my favorite pink), and I thought they would look nice on her card.  So here's the sketch:

and here's my card:

After cutting my oval and circles from the Stitched Shapes dies, I embossed the white one with the Ornate Floral EF, then added a fussy-cut daisy from Ornate Style, stamped in Basic Gray (stamped off once) and watercolored with Petal Pink and Pear Pizzazz:

I stamped a sentiment from Lovely You and added "wishes" from an old set called Endless Birthday Wishes....one of SU's first photopolymer set!  A few sequins scattered here and there, and it was done!  Here's the inside, stamped in Petal Pink and Smoky Slate:

My second card is a Christmas card, and I am entering it at the Krafty Chicks Challenge, which is "Stamp Act"...use a stamp.  I had purchased this digital stamp from Marcella Hawley after seeing it on a PP card a few weeks back...I loved it and had to have it.  It was sitting on my desk, colored but unfinished so I found some matching papers, threw it all on a Crumb Cake card base and called it done too:

It was printed on plain old computer paper and I colored it with Blends, then added a sentiment from Concord & 9th, stamped in Real Red:

Finally, a little nod to patriotic red, white and blue, I made this:

I have had this stamp for a long time, but don't remember who made it; there was no name on the wooden block. (My friend Vickie tells me it is from 100 Proof Press!  Thanks, Vickie!)  It was stamped in Misty Moonlight ink, and since it's so large, I left the card pretty plain, just added some Real Red gingham DSP and a bow of Misty Moonlight. The sentiment is from an old Unity set.  I just love these silhouettes:

I'm entering this at Little Red Wagon (Summertime Fun), Time Out Challenges (Days Gone By), and Color My Heart Color Dare's Inspiration Board:

Thanks for hanging with me this far!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

A lot of swimming and sunshine equals:
