DSCF8404

Happy Friday, happy end-of-the-week, everyone!  I had a lovely snow day yesterday…we got about 10” of it, and I stayed inside and stamped most of the day!  I always love playing with the Freshly Made Sketches challenges; they have a long and skinny layout for us this week:
I actually made two cards for the challenge!  On my first attempt, I totally spaced out on the ribbon placement, so I’ll show you the second one first:

I know it’s SAB and all, but I really am missing some of my old favorite stamp sets, so I paired Postage Due with the Adventure Bound DSP for a mix of old and new!  I made a tag from Newsprint DSP and brayered it with ink, then mounted the postage stamp and an image from Traveler in there too!  I punched little banners with the Small Banner punch and lined them up at the bottom.  I tied it all together with some silver baker’s twine.

My sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

For my original card, I chose the monochromatic challenge from Colour Me…! – yippee, it’s orange!  Tangelo Twist, to be exact!
I had a hankering to make some tulips using the wing from the Bird Builder punch, so I punched them from some TT cardstock, sponged all the edges and assembled my card, turning it on its side:

I stamped the stems from Lotus Blossoms in Sahara Sand and added some TT ribbon, tied with Linen thread.  The sentiment was originally going to be at the top, but I smudged the side of my card with some Sahara Sand ink, so that’s how I “fixed” it!!  I also made a custom envelope with some Confetti Celebration DSP!

Here is a closer look at the tulips; I added highlights with the Chalk Marker (love that thing!):

Thanks for visiting today!

Staying inside on these cold winter days can be challenging!  We got out the big Lego blocks for some construction activity:

The goal was to make a building taller than Cassidy!

We did it!  She even added a little man on top!

Paper Players 231

DSCF7844-001

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Hope all is well in your wee world!  Today, we have Nance’s color challenge to share with you over at the Paper Players!  Here ya go:

This is definitely Nance’s style!  I found the color combo challenging, but in the end, I like it!  Here’s my take on it:

Of course, I had to do a Valentine-themed project!  I thought it would be fun to make a little Curvy Keepsake favor, so I made mine in Real Red, embossing it with the Happy Heart embossing folder (a little tricky, but I managed to get all four flaps embossed!), and adding some Calypso Coral embellishments!  I made a flower with some Stacked with Love DSP, the Pansy punch and a black glimmer brad, then mounted it on a tag created with Calypso Coral cardstock and the Scalloped Heart of Hearts embosslit:

I added a banner stamped with a sentiment from Something to Say, added a wee red glimmer paper banner as well, and tied it all up with some cotton ribbon and black and white baker’s twine:

I made a little notecard to go with it, using Calypso Coral cardstock stamped in with the Hardwood BG stamp in Craft White ink, then adding a tic-tac-toe image using the stem from the SAB set, Lotus Blossom:

I added some hearts from Something to Say and a sentiment from Good Greetings!  I hope you’ll play along with the Players this week, because we can’t wait to see what you create with Nance’s colors!  You can check out all the designers’ beautiful creations by clicking on their links below:

Cassidy has been sick the last few days….I have never heard anyone sneeze as many times as this poor child has!  You can just see it in her little watery eyes and red runny nose:

Good thing I’m stocked up on tissues!  Achoooo!

DSCF7490

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Just a quick card today…I am in the throes of a sinus thing, feeling a wee bit washed out!  The colors from the ColourQ challenge cheered me up…this inspiration photo cracked me up, actually:

and I paired it with the sketch from Technostamper:

to make a little thank-you card for a customer:

I have a 4 1/4” square card base in Crumb Cake on which I stamped the Dictionary stamp in Sahara Sand; the image is from the SAB set Lotus Blossom, stamped in Strawberry Slush and Rose Red and mounted on some SS DSP and the Best Year Ever DSP from the SAB catalog.  I just love the vintage vs. fresh look!  My sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, and I stamped a little background from A Fitting Occasion and used the Itty Bitty Framelits to cut it out:

My Chocolate Chip scallop is from the Circle Card Thinlits…that little set comes in handy, there are lots of cool dies in there!

Doing some artwork with watercolors and crayons!

She was quite intent on it, too!  Enjoy your day!

Thank You Times Five

DSCF7131

The Kraft Journal has a “thank you” challenge this week, and I do need several thank you cards!  I have a slew of Crumb Cake Note Card envelopes from a previous SU promotion, so I thought I would make a few simple note cards using some scraps I had on my craft table!  Almost all of them use the “thank you” from the SAB Lotus Blossom; it’s a great size for these note cards.

The first uses the lovely new set available today in the Occasions mini catalog called Moon Lake.  There are lots of cool masculine sets in this catalog, and this is my favorite!  This one uses the Canada goose image, watercolored and mounted on a card base stamped with Hardwood and sponged:

I love that the images are detailed, but easy to color; here is a chickadee, also watercolored:

I used the chalk marker to create the white areas, and I added a Strawberry Slush baker’s twine and Linen thread bow.

I had this scrap of DSP from last year’s mini laying around, along with a new butterfly diecut I had “practiced” on in Coastal Cabana, and the colors just happened to match, so I added a little piece of doily, some ribbon and a row of pearls:

I couldn’t do a set of Crumb Cake cards without doing a vintage one; this one uses the Shop Around wheel (ret) along with some Blushing Bride pleated ribbon and baker’s twine and the rest of the doily.  I also colored a wooden butterfly that was a gift from my friend Martha and adhered it to the top:

Since that little wooden butterfly is new, I am adding this one to the Shopping Our Stash challenge to use something new in 2015!

Finally, a little whimsical card with a touch of Valentine-ness to it!  This uses the photopolymer set Epic Alphabet, which is a fun set to use since it is so easy to line up!  It’s bigger than I anticipated, so my “thanks” took up the whole card!  I added a scrap from the Stacked with Love DSP, a few diecut hearts and a sweet red ribbon:

Colour Me Anniversary

DSCF7042
Happy Wednesday, everyone….are you celebrating New Year’s Eve in a big way or a quiet way?  We are having dinner at home with friends, then we’ll watch a movie….and hopefully I can get some knitting done too!

Meanwhile, those crafty, colourful girls at Colour Me…! are having their one-year anniversary today!  How fun!  Congratulations to them on a fabulous year, and I look forward to seeing their awesome challenges in the coming year!  For this week, they want us to choose a past palette with which to create a card!  I chose #16:
because they are perfect colors to showcase an upcoming Sale-a-bration set, Lotus Blossom!  This is a photopolymer set, so it is quite easy to line up the layers to create a very detailed image:

I used papers from the All Abloom DSP stack as well as the Backgrounds DSP in Pistachio Pudding.  The sentiment is included!!  What a beautiful set!  Here’s a closer image:

DSCF7043

I also used Gorgeous Grunge to add a little organic feel!  I hope you will play along with the anniversary challenge over at Colour Me…!  I know they would love to have you!

Edited to add:  I totally forgot to mention that I used the Technostamper sketch from this week as well!!!  Here it is:

I found some pictures on my other camera, taken while my SIL was babysitting her granddaughters.  Cassidy seems very “grown-up” next to Maggie and Lucy….and she likes to organize their play too!  Unfortunately, Maggie doesn’t take direction too well, LOL!

DSCF6004

She seems to be giving some thought to Cassidy’s suggestion!!

Enjoy your day and have a safe holiday!  See you in 2015!
