Babies are a Blessing

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  A wee bit late today...just haven't gotten into my summer stamping routine yet!  I needed a baby congratulations card, and the sketch from Atlantic Hearts worked great with the colors from Global Design Project:

I don't have many baby stamps but the retired Bonanza Buddies stamp set is one I usually go to when I need something along that line, so I pulled out the toucan and went to work!  So here we go:

I diecut three circles in the challenge colors using the Stylish Shapes dies, then added stars from Your Biggest Fan in matching inks.  I diecut the toucan and colored his beak in the challenge colors as well, then cut balloons from DSP in matching colors.  The sentiment is from Charming Sentiments. It all went on a Basic White card that had  been embossed with the Stitched with Whimsy die:

More Charming Sentiments, stamped in Tahitian Tide on the inside!

And here is little Cole, who made his appearance early last week, born at home, along with mommy Paige and daddy Drew!!!

I think he might look a wee bit like his cousin Sawyer!!  We'll have to see as he gets older!  Thanks for visiting today...enjoy it and be blessed!

PP585 Still Got It

Hi there, peeps!  Sunday brings a new Paper Players challenge with Ann as our hostess for this week's fun one:

What a great challenge...we all need some laughter in our lives!  I just got the set called Lighthearted Lines, so this was a great chance to get it inky!  I paired it with some whimsical paper and some wee  little party hats:

I taped off and stamped part of the sentiment, leaving some space at the bottom, then stamped five hats from Bonanza Buddies in matching colors and topped them off with some fuzzy pompoms:

Then I stamped the other part of the sentiment on the inside:

It all went on a Just Jade card base!  I need some April birthday cards, so this is a good start!  I hope you'll find some humorous stamp images or sentiments in your stash---pull them out and get to work!  We can't wait to see what you create!  Check out what the Design Team created over at the Paper Players as well!

PP539 Birthday for the Boys

Happy Sunday, everyone!  We have a new Paper Players challenge with Joanne as our hostess:

This worked out great for me, as I just had a Stamp Camp making cards for men and boys!  I chose one of the boys' ones, using some cool glossy papers a friend gave me and the Bonanza Buddies stamp set:

I used my favorite layouet and mounted the printed papers on a Granny Apple Green card base.  The birthday sentiment was diecut with a Tasteful Labels die and accented with images from the Bonanza Buddies set:

And I just had to add a couple little pompoms for fun!  Here's the inside too:

I have learned to make boys' cards pretty simple....they usually appreciate the gift that goes with it but the card....it's mostly appreciated by the moms and grandmoms, LOL!  I hope you'll play along with "Cards for Boys" challenge this week at the Players....can't wait to see what you create!  And be sure to check out what the DT created at the Paper Players blog!  Thanks for visiting today!

Last weekend we cleaned up the roads around our church; this weekend we worked on the cemetery!  Last weekend the weather was beautiful...this weekend, it was sunny, 45 degrees and the winds were blowing about 40 mph (well, at least that's what it felt like!).  We all needed hats, scarves, gloves and warm clothes....except for Cassidy:

After helping me replace most of the American flags, which get very worn in the weather, she helped pick up sticks.  When you have a really old cemetery, there is always work to be done.  Some of our headstones are from the 1800s and are not anchored in the same manner that modern headstones are, so they end up looking like this:

Or snuggled together like these are, or even toppled over completely:

It's quite an effort to right the ones that are leaning or toppled over...it requires a special machine and a plan to affix them properly in place once they are upright, not to mention the funds to do it!  So probably many will have to stay this way for a while!

And this is one of the oldest ones I found, there are probably older, but Mary Ramsay died in 1851 at age 42, so she would have been born in 1809!

Hope you didn't find these too morbid!  I think it's really interesting to see these older headstones...a walk into past history!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB154 First Birthday

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Time for a new Retro Rubber challenge, where we give some of our older stamps some love!  Our challenge this go-round is "Anything Goes"!

My card today is for a sweet little boy who will soon be celebrating his first birthday!  I chose to make a "stair-step" card to celebrate that big day!  Here we go:

Bonanza Buddies (Jan 2020) is such a great set for children's birthdays, and I still have some of the matching DSP, so I chose that to complement my Poppy Parade card.  I used the measurements and directions from Splitcoaststampers (look under Tutorials for "Vertical Step Card") and the little lion to decorate the left front of the card.  His little hat is decorated with a pompom too!  How fun!

The right front features images and a number from Number of Years (2016):

Here's a side view, where you can see the "steps".....I added little squares of coordinating DSP and used a Papertrey alphabet die for the letters:

And since there was one extra square at the bottom, I fussy-cut a little ice cream cone and attached it!

This was a lot easier to create than I thought...the hardest part was tracing the panels and cutting out the DSP layers!  I will definitely be trying a couple more of these!  I hope you'll play along with our "Anything Goes" challenge at Retro Rubber this week too!  Just a reminder to use stamps at least a year old, and let us know how old they are!  Hope to see you there!  Thanks for popping in today!

More clean-up....this stick is as big as she is!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI243 Dino Birthday

Hey peeps!  Time for a new As You See It challenge, and it's a sketch! I love sketches!  Here it is:

Now THIS little guy is turning three at the end of the month:

Yep, Sawyer's birthday is coming up, so this sketch was a great inspiration for me to create a crazy-eyed dinosaur card for him:

I created my background with some retired Birthday Bonanza DSP, and stamped a dinosaur from Dino Days in Pumpkin Pie and Bermuda Bay.  I added some balloons, a birthday hat with pompom and some googlie eyes for fun:

After adding three balloons (for three years!) I created a birthday sentiment using Number of years and a Tasteful Labels diecut:

And on the inside, more from the Number of Years set:

I hope he likes it, although he'll probably wish there was a truck or tractor on it....but hopefully those googlie eyes will catch his attention!  Thanks for popping in today! I hope you'll play with our sketch  at As You See It and create something fun for a special person in your life!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB131 Party On

Hi there, everyone!  It's time for a new Inspired By challenge, and it's a fun, colorful one:

And here's the optional sketch, which I chose not to use this week:

Fiesta!  Well, I don't have many "fiesta" style stamps, but I did have some fun papers left from the Birthday Bonanza suite, as well as a cute little chameleon stamp, so here we go:

I stamped and colored Mr Chameleon in with some Blends, adding a hat from the Bonanza Buddies  stamp set, stamped in Calypso Coral; I outlined the hat with a Basic Black marker and added some Wink of Stella to jazz it up.  I will give you a warning....the Wink of Stella will cause the water-based marker to smudge, as you can see!

He's still cute though, especially with that pompom on his hat!  I added some banners and sequins, then added a sentiment panel, stamped with a past Paper Pumpkin stamp in Poppy Parade, Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral.  After stamping and trimming, I mounted it on a Daffodil Delight mat and added a stitched scalloped panel of Bermuda Bay:

I stamped another Paper Pumpkin sentiment on the inside and added some leftover banners:

I think it's pretty fiesta-ive!  I hope you'll play along with our Inspired By challenge, you can use the photo, or the photo and the sketch!  Can't wait to see what you create and share!

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

CAS Thinking of You

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I have a couple of CAS cards for you today; I finally got my SU order, so I hope to play with those goodies today!  Meanwhile, the Color Dare 394 wants Monochromatic Greens:

Click Photo for Color Dare Challenge #394 "Monochromatic Green" - CLOSES Thursday May 28th

and I needed to amp up my birthday card stash, so I pulled out the soon-to-retire Time for Tags and some shades of green:

I stamped the tag in Call Me Clover and used Blends and a Blender Pen and ink to color it in, then embellished it with a little green glimmer paper star:

I punched it out with the matching tag punch, then used some Call Me Clover DSP and the Nested Label die for my layers.  I adhered them to some Granny Apple Green layers to add another green!  On the inside, I stamped images from Bonanza Buddies, as well as a couple more glimmer stars:

My second card is for Just Add Ink's Thinking of You challenge, Perfectly CAS's Animal challenge, and CAS On Sunday's Use a Die challenge:

My Community Bible Study stopped face-to-face meeting, obviously, but we were continuing via Zoom, and my leader shared some really cute paper plates she had gotten earlier in the year for our last meeting, which is always a lovely brunch with beautifully decorated tables and a sharing time.  The plates had a big giraffe on them, very cute, and I thought I would use the one giraffe stamp I had to make her a thank you card:

I stamped my giraffe from 100 Proof Press in Cajun Craze and fussy-cut him out, then layered him on another Nested Label diecut panel.  I stamped an image from Gallery Grunge in Terracotta Tile, and added a sentiment from Daily Bread Design's Mini Tag Sentiments.

My top Very Vanilla layer is also diecut with MFT's Wonky Stitched Rectangle die for some additional interest!  Now, to get this out in the mail!

I haven't had any Cassidy pictures lately, but I thought I would share this photo of my minister's kids; they built a "teepee" in their backyard:

Between that and the treehouse that John built for them, they'll be set for all their outdoor summer activities!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy your day and be blessed!
