AHSC614 Perennial Lavender Birthday

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  The sketch from Atlantic Hearts this week is really sweet....it gave me a chance to use up some scraps from the Perennial Lavender DSP that I had!  Here's the sketch:

I did some layering of the DSP, then added a birthday sentiment from Sketched Butterflies along with a dotty circle from the retired Perfectly Wrapped.  Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather cardstocks were used for the circular mats, and the same DSP was used to create some leaves using the Stippled Roses dies.

Those pretty sequins are a freebie from Sale-a-bration, gotta love that!

You can go to the AHSC blog page tomorrow to see ALL the designers' creations!  Get some inspiration and share yours with us too!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC562 My Heart Is With You

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Wow, the last day of January, time flies!  My card today features the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge sketch:

along with some papers from Close to My Heart that I've had for a while but haven't even opened!  So I remedied that today!  Here we go:

I love the vintage French feel of these prints...I layered one of the papers on a Crumb Cake base, and before layering it, I stamped a few images from the retired French Foliage and Butterfly Basics:

I added a couple of embossed hearts from the Adoring Hearts embossing folder, some Boho Blue twine, and a sentiment from another retired set called Small Sayings. It's hard to see, but there's a wee little strip of Champagne foil paper that gives the elements a little pizzazz!  On the inside, another retired sentiment from Holiday Best:

This was actually my second attempt at this card; the first one I was not as pleased with; it went on a Very Vanilla base, but I didn't really like the stamped elements as much.

I did like the sentiment; it was a sticker from the same set of papers:

Those twirly elements behind the sentiments are always problematic for me, I can never get them quite right! But I now have two more Valentines for my stash!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

We love because God first loved us.  I John 4:19

LIM480 Big Hooray

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I have a fun "retro" card today using a couple of older retired sets; it uses the sketch from Sunday Stamps as well as the color theme of black and aqua from Less is More:

Now I admit that these colors are a bit unusual for a western-themed card, but I had a scrap of Coastal Cabana DSP on my desk and I was determined to use it, LOL!  So here we go:

The western images are from a set called Out West; the sentiment is from Perfectly Wrapped.  I added a star from YeeHaw:

which is also where I got the sentiment on the inside, except for the "have a"....that's from Endless Birthday Wishes.  Endless Birthday Wishes is one of the very first photopolymer set that SU came out with...and I still have it!

I've been on a roll, making masculine cards, so this will go in my pile for one of my April birthdays!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

CAS Valentine Love Note

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  I have a CAS Valentine card (almost the last one, LOL!) today and it uses the sketch from Hand-Stamped Sentiments along with the colors from CAS Colours & Sketches:

I had several ideas in mind for a card but since the color challenge is a CAS challenge, I decided to go mostly white with a few accents in the challenge colors.  So here we go:

I used several retired products on top of my Stitched Greenery panels: the circular "wreath" and flowers are from a set called Perfectly Wrapped. The Mint Macaron leaves are from the Pierced Blooms dies.  The little envelope and love notes are from a set called Sealed With Love, along with the matching Love Note dies:

I added some rhinestones, colored with Blends, to the centers of the flowers.  And the inside sentiment and hearts are also from Sealed With Love:

It took a while for Sweet Sorbet to grow on me, but now I really love it! It's a pretty shade of red!

And speaking of red, this little lady flashed outside my window yesterday but she flew away when she heard my camera...and I was inside!!!  The picture is a little blurry because I was taking it through the screen:

The male pileateds have a red moustache, so I knew this one was a female.  She's come to visit several times this winter!  Look at those claws!

Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

RRCB189

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Time for a new Retro Rubber challenge, where we use our older stamps, and it's a fun one:

I was a little stumped on this one, but ended up pulling out my retired Stitched Triangle dies and cutting out some triangles from a few of the challenge colors!  So here we go:

I used Crumb Cake, Soft Sky, Rococo Rose, Misty Moonlight and Smoky Slate, then mounted them all on a panel of Basic White embossing with the retired Coastal Weave embossing folder!  The outside sentiment is from Suite Sentiments, diecut with an Ornate Frame die and embellished with some Pierced Blooms flowers and a wee little rhinestone!  The inside features stamps from Perfectly Wrapped, all stamped in colors of the triangles on the front:

I hope you'll find some inspiration from our photo---will it be colors?  Shapes?  Images?  Can't wait to see what you create!  Share it with us at Retro Rubber so we all can see it!

My great-nieces Emma and Lucy came over last week and to keep them busy, I got out some small stamps and spots along with some scrap paper and they had a lot of fun....for at least fifteen minutes, anyway!  Cassidy chose to eat!

Their techniques were pretty good! Start them early, right?!  Thanks for visiting today---enjoy it and be blessed!

RRCB177 Tic Tac Toe with Peanuts

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Time for a new Retro Rubber Challenge where we challenge everyone to give some love to their retired and older stamps!  We have a fun tic-tac-toe grid for you this week! Check it out:

I chose the top row across of metallics, crafter's choice (coloring) and embossing.  So here we go:

This stamp is from 2009 and it's called That's Funny and I TOTALLY do not remember this stamp.  I got it from my girlfriend at our yard sale and it is TOTALLY her type of humor (thanks, Shawn) and I just had to have it. I don't normally make funny cards but I can see me using this stamp set a lot. I stamped the peanuts in Soft Suede ink and colored them with Blends, then added a Brushed Metallic copper scallop and popped up the sentiment :

I embossed a Very Vanilla panel with a large polka dot Cuttlebug embossing folder, turning it upside down so the dots sort of resembled the dimples on a peanut!  The inside of my Crumb Cake card was stamped with a sentiment (and some more dots) from Perfectly Wrapped (2016):

I have to be a little mean to my hubby....bless his heart, he didn't "get" my card.  I guess he hasn't been on a plane ride for a while, or didn't know the peanuts were "complimentary"!  Meanwhile, my sister and Dana thought it was hysterical.  Maybe it's just girl humor?  Anyway, I hope you'll play along with our challenge!  Remember to use stamps that are at least a year old and tell us the approximate age!  Can't wait to see what you create at the Retro Rubber blog!

RRCB151 Black, White and Red

Hey there peeps!  It's time for a new Retro Rubber Challenge where we use stamps that are at least a year old!  Here's our awesome challenge for this week:

I love black, white and red; I think it's a very elegant color combo, but I went in a different direction this week!  My sweet friend Colleen inspired me to pull out my Apron of Love (2018) bundle for today's card. She is always a great source of inspiration (as well as new purchases!) for me! Check it out:

This bundle, like so many, was only available for such a short time that I just never got to use it to its full potential!  The set of dies is chock full of fun little doodads, so I was able to use some of them on my card today!  I started by printing out a digital black gingham in a small check and diecutting the apron from it.  I just continued to add embellishments like the red-trimmed pocket, the hearts, the little banners and the silver scissors:

I used a Tasteful Labels die to diecut the sentiments:

and I used the Perfectly Wrapped (2017) for the inside:

I mounted everything on a stitched rectangle of Basic Gray and adhered it to my Whisper White card front! I just love how this turned out!  Thanks, Colleen for the inspiration!   And since this will be going to a friend, I am entering it at Always Fun Challenges, where their challenge is to make a card for a friend!

I hope you'll play along using our inspiration photo as well!  Just be sure to tell us how old your stamps are...give those older ones some love!  Thanks for popping in today!

Here are a few more pix from the Valentine project:

Stay tuned for more!

RR145 Tic Tac Toe A Big Thanks

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Time for a new Retro Rubber challenge, where we give our older stamps some attention!  This week we have a Tic-tac-toe grid for you!  I chose the right column of metallics, masculine, and embossing for my card today:

Each week at church we pray for people in our community; it might be another church, our government leaders, that kind of thing.  Last week we prayed for our police chiefs, and the police chief in my community happened to grow up right across from us and went to school with my brother.  He and his brothers (who were an ornery bunch, LOL!!!!) are also big motorcycle fans!  So I made this card to encourage him and his force and let him know we appreciate them and are praying for them:

I used a sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches (which is over) but I still liked it and found that the  retired Urban Underground DSP was a perfect background for my heat-embossed motorcycle from Rev Up the Fun (2013):

I even added some orange "flame" to the embossing as well as some silver Painty ink to the "chrome" parts!  The paper has some silver embossing on it as well, and I backed with with some silver foil!  The sentiment is from Perfectly Wrapped (2016) and it was diecut with the Stitched Rectangle die:

I mounted everything on a Whisper White card base that had been embossed with the retired Coastal Weave embossing folder!  I sure hope he liked it! And since the Just Add Ink  challenge is "Thank You", I am entering it there as well!

And now, what will you create with our fun grid?  LOTS of possibilities!  We hope you'll share yours with us at Retro Rubber; just make sure you use stamps that are at least a year old, and tell us the age!  Can't wait to see them!

I admire Dana; she is always trying to introduce some healthy recipes into their diet, but Cassidy gets in a rut sometimes and doesn't always want to try new things!  However, Dana made spaghetti squash "lasagne" a couple days ago and Cass actually liked it....she liked how the "spaghetti" came out of the squash, LOL!  She gave it a thumbs-up!  I think I might have to try this myself!  Thanks for popping by--enjoy your day and be blessed!

Summery Thanks

Happy Monday, peeps!  Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!  My only complaint is that it went by too quickly!  I did get in a wee bit of stamping time, and found a few challenges that piqued my interest: the Just Us Girls summer challenge; the Less Is More color challenge of Tangerine, Aqua and White; and the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch:

A Day at the Beach is a great summery set, and since it was in the Occasions catalog from a couple of years ago, I never got to use it that much!  So I inked up a couple images and colored them with some Blends, then heat-embossed a sentiment on some Pumpkin Pie DSP and put them all together to create this:

You can't see it here, but there is Wink of Stella on each of the elements, and I added some Iridescent Sequins for some extra shine!  Such happy colors!  Thanks for popping in today!

And speaking of summer, Wayne helped Cassidy enjoy the pool this weekend:

What a great step-daddy he is!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
