FMS643 Land That I Love

Happy 4th of July! We have a lazy day and I'm having trouble getting started today!  The FMS sketch from Linda was a fun one to use for a patriotic theme!

I pulled out a couple of patriotic stamps and here's what I came up with:

I stamped one image from SU's retired Star-Spangled Banner in each color of Real Red and Blueberry Bushel, then did some paper piecing for my center panel.  I diecut it with a Perennial Postage die, although I did have to run it through two times to get the shape I wanted!  I added some diecut stars behind the image:

The sentiment was from a really old set from Mark's Finest, called American Made; it was diecut and I added some Bitty Banner diecuts behind it:

Another image and sentiment from Mark's Finest went on the inside:

And since the Time Out Challenge is featuring stars this week, I'm entering it there as well!

Happy Independence Day!  And here's a funny photo for you, totally not related to the 4th of July, sent to me by my sister in South Carolina:

I could use some of those pencils while doing my crossword puzzles every day!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Independence Day to all my American friends!

The Star Spangled Banner

O say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Paper Players 199

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Paper Players 199 Waltzingmouse July 4th Stampin-001

Hi peeps!  It’s Sunday, and that means another Paper Players challenge!  Jaydee is our hostess this week with some patriotic colors for us:

I don’t normally send out July 4th cards, but I just couldn’t let these colors go by and not make something patriotic!  I’ll think of someone to whom I can send this card!!!  I used Waltzingmouse’s USA 1776 set:

This is a really large card…the white panel is 4 1/2” x 6”!!  I did lots of stamping, a bit of masking and some paper piecing to create my card!

I just love all the images and sentiments in this set!  And I didn’t use them all!  I used these cute little firecrackers for the inside:

Now, not all the Players created patriotic cards, so be sure to stop by the Paper Players blog to see what they did create!  You’ll be inspired, for sure!

Speaking of patriotic, I put up some decorations this week, and Cassidy wanted to put some in her room…..so she stuck some flags in her lamp and in her bookcase.  AND you can see where, from her crib, she ripped off some of my patriotic wallpaper a couple of years ago!!!   I still love her, LOL!!

One-Layer Patriotic Card

DSCF6026
Happy Thursday, peeps!  Just a simple card today---does anyone really send out July 4th cards?  It seems like an odd holiday for cards, but I was itching to use this new stamp set, so maybe I’ll send this to my sister, whom I don’t get to see on July 4th!!!

My first step to make this one-layer card was to make a stencil, inside which I sponged white craft ink.  I then just stamped my images on top.  I always forget that ink on Crumb Cake “bleeds” a wee bit, so my sentiment wasn’t as crisp as I would have liked!  Here is the inside:

This fulfills several challenges:
ART challenge #2 sketch (for which I missed the deadline---drat!):
The Kraft Journal’s Make it Monday, which is to use ink, paint or markers; the CASology cue, which is “Free”; and CAS on Sunday, which is one layer!  Thanks so much for visiting today!  And if you have any questions, please email me!

Cassidy’s outfit matches her watermelon!

Happy July 4th!

ie148_4flag

I did absolutely no stamping for July 4th—no cards, no projects, nothing!  So you’ll just have to enjoy this vintage postcard, which I am sure I’ve shared before, and I’ll share some Americana projects from my cross-stitching day!  Enjoy your day!
