FMS664 Welcome Baby

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you had a fine Thanksgiving, if you're in the US! We'll be decorating our church this morning for Advent, so this will be quick!

Our neighbor's son (who is also our neighbor) and his wife just had their first baby, so I used the FMS sketch to make them a card.  Here's the sketch:

Of course, since there were three panels, I just had to play along!  Here we go:

I looked through my stash of retired DSP and picked out some pastel patterns for the vertical panels, and I pulled out an oldie but goodie teddy bear from Every Little Bit:

Another oldie, And Many More, provided the sentiment!

Cute sketch for a cute little baby!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC566 Queen Bee Birthday

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Halfway through the week! I have a sweet little card using some sweet little papers, all for the Atlantic Hearts sketch this week!  First, here's the sketch:

So here we go:

The papers and circular element are all from Echo Park's Bee Happy pad....I just love the colors and prints!  (For anyone who wants to know, the narrower pieces are 3/4" wide, and the wider pieces are 1 1/8" wide!)  I isolated the edges of the pre-printed banner by fussy-cutting them out, then slipped it into a Stylish Shapes dies with the banner edges over TOP of the die and ran it through my Big Shot.  The leaves are cut from the same pad using the retired Pierced Blooms dies.  The So Saffron flowers were cut with a My Favorite Things Stitched Flowers die. That sweet little bee is from a retired SU set called Every Little Bit!

I used a Darcie's Heart & Home set for the inside:

Thanks for popping in today!

I am asking your indulgence here...my family's heritage is Scots-Irish and whenever I see a man in a kilt at any sort of heritage function, I am reminded of our trip to Scotland a few years back with my sister.  I jokingly asked my (only) little brother if he would ever wear a kilt.  He smirked a little and said "Maybe!"  Imagine my surprise when he knocked at my door the other day and was wearing this:

The Black Watch plaid is considered our Mackey family plaid, and I remember my dad having a plaid jacket like this, but he definitely did NOT have a kilt!  Anyway, Raymond's Masonic group is having a kilt night, so he will put it to good use!  And no, he's not holding a glass of scotch, but good old homemade Italian wine, made by hubby John!  I give a man credit for wearing a kilt and knee socks!  He looks pretty good, I think!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AHSC554 A Really Big Baby Card

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I guess by the name of my post, you might think this is a baby card for a really big baby, or a really big card for a normal-sized baby!  Thankfully, it's the latter! My niece finally had her baby Sunday night, and I used the sketch from Atlantic Hearts for their card:

So here's my really big card:

I wanted to be able to use a business-sized envelope, so the card is 3 3/4" x 8 1/2".  I apologize for the poor quality photo....I guess it's just too big!  I used some plaid papers from the retired Country Gingham DSP, and some scrapbook paper from my stash.  The teddy bear was stamped and colored with Blends; it's from the retired Every Little Bit, and he was mounted on an embossed square of Basic White:

The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs and the enamel dots are retired SU.  And on the inside, some sentiments from Charming Sentiments, stamped in Azure Afternoon, and for the Global Design Project challenge this week, which is "ABC--using letters",

I diecut Papertrey letters for his name:

And here is baby Coby, with Mommy and Daddy and big brother Cole....and he weighed in at 9 lb, so I guess you could say he was a big baby!

Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

AYSI282 Hello Baby

Happy Friday, peeps!  Time for a new As You See It challenge and this is a fun one!  Look at this little cutie:

Not many babies being born in my family lately, but I did see Dana crocheting a blue baby blanket for a friend of hers the other day, so I am thinking I may give this to her!  Here we go:

My sketch is from Atlantic Hearts:

I used some "oldies but goodies" stamps for the main image:  A to Z, Teeny Tiny Wishes and Every Little Bit, colored with a light watercolor wash and mounted on some really old Cuttlebug tags.

I used some Papertrey gingham, a piece of random blue paper from my scrapbook stash, and a piece of retired Soft Sky paper was run through the Big Shot with the new Dots & Spots die...such a fun look and so easy!  I added a scalloped mat on the horizontal piece and tied it all up with some pale yellow embroidery floss!  I added a simple sentiment on the inside, and it's ready to go!

I hope you'll play along with our sweet challenge for this week!  Sadly, this will be my final challenge with them, as I am stepping down from some of my design commitments!  But I will be checking them out and playing along for sure in the future!  Meanwhile, check out what the DT created and share yours as well over at the As You See It blog!  Thanks for popping in today!

A little creative activity...making loopy bracelets!  She has enough here to make hundreds, LOL!  This is my last day of watching her for the summer...she starts school (7th grade) on Monday!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP553 Sunny Thoughts

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Claire is our amazing hostess this week at the Paper Players and she has a fun color challenge for us all:

I thought the big bold colors in this palette called for some big bold elements!  The sketch at Fusion was fun:

And so here we go:

Stitchery is one of the first sets I ordered from the new catalog and I was having a bit of a problem figuring out how to use it!  But I loved how it looked here decorating these panels!  I stamped some of the stitches on the Old Olive and Real Red panels with matching ink, then stamped a sentiment from Sunny Sentiments.  The bee is from a retired set called Every Little Bit, and he was stamped and colored, then fussy-cut and popped up.  I even did a little "bee trail" with a Black marker!

The final embellishment was the addition of some epoxy dots on the sun for fun!

I hope you'll play along with our color challenge this week!  The design team has come up with some awesome samples, so be sure to stop by the Paper Players blog to take a peek, then share yours with us too!  Thanks for visiting today!

Cassidy got a creative bug last week and asked Grampy to help her make something for her mom.  Grampy got his tools and some sort of MDF stuff and they made a little plaque:

Then we sketched out the design and she started the painting (excuse my messy table!!!):

Now you'll have to come back tomorrow for the finished product and Mommy's reaction!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CTS278 It's A Boy

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Boy, is it hot today!  We went yard-saling this morning and it was just overwhelmingly unbearable!  So back inside to work on my craft room...or not!  Anyway, I made this card for a couple in our church who just announced the birth of a new grandson!  Yippee, I always love to make baby cards!  I started with the Cas(e) This Sketch sketch for this week:

And here we go:

This retired stamp set, Every Little Bit, has lots of fun little images that are quick to stamp and easy to color in!  I stamped the images in Memento Black ink and used various SU Blends to color them in, then diecut them with the Stitched Shapes Framelits:

The sentiment is from another retired set, Nursery Necessities, and it and the other banner (Lawn Fawn plaid paper) was cut with a Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Labels die.  Everything was adhered to a thick white card, and since the banner stuck out a little, I created a custom envelope with my Envelope Punch Board!

So happy you popped in today...be SURE to come back tomorrow, as the Paper Players have an awesome challenge for all you lucky stampers!  Be blessed and enjoy your day!

Cassidy's first "sparring" time...she is on the left.  She's not quite advanced enough yet to really know how to do this, but Master Fisher put her in with the other students in the class!!!  Yikes, that looks scary to me!

Birthday Kitten

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I am having a very lazy day today...it's snow flurrying outside, I don't have any big plans and I am still in my jammies, LOL!  I have a birthday card this morning, no challenges, but I thought it was sweet enough to share.  I saw this card by Mary Fish recently and had a "duh" moment...why didn't I think of using the small stitched squares to make a quilt?!

A little girl in our church is turning one soon; she won't appreciate the card, but hopefully her parents will!  I used some scraps from a MME 6x6 pad called Nostalgia to create my background quilt squares, then stamped the kitten from Every Little Bit on some Soft Sky cardstock and fussy-cut it out:

I added some shading with a Soft Sky marker (and colored her nose too!), popped it up on a Stitched Shape circle and added a little banner with a birthday sentiment.  The "1st" is from SU's Little Numbers, and it was also cut from the same DSP pad.  I just love the soft subtle colors in these papers, especially made into a "quilt"!!!

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy your day and be blessed!

My little kitten has lost another tooth...now her smile is evenly-gapped on either side of those front teeth, LOL!

TSOT284

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Time for another Try Stampin on Tuesday sketch...here's an interesting one:

I have to admit that it did challenge me, but I persevered!  My friend Debbie just became a grandmother again, this time to twin girls!  I can't wait to see them!  So I made this for her, using a retired set called Every Little Bit for the three top images, and a sentiment from Darcie's called Bee-utiful:

Each image was stamped in Stazon and watercolored, then mounted on a Layering Squares mat:

And since there was more than one "ba-bee", I added a little "S" from Labeler Alphabet as well as some little stars from the same set!

Hearts from the Work of Art set and a sentiment from Watercolor Wishes finished the inside!

I hope you will come play along with us!  You can find the sketch on our blog, or check out our Facebook page as well!

John picked the first cantaloupe of the season...it measured 27" around!  Looks more like a pumpkin!

And of course, Cassidy had to use the first slice as a prop:

She does keep us laughing!
