AHSC596 Boo!

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Time for a new Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge!  I must warn you, my card today is BUSY!  Be prepared!  First, the sketch:

I've had these CTMH papers and stamps for a while, and as I was creating, I realized I covered up most of the background papers, LOL! Oh well!  Here we go:

The stamps are all from CTMH's Hello Pumpkin-Scrapbooking set; the ghost and spiderweb are stamped on vellum and fussy-cut.  The "BOO" was stamped on a scrap of the orange gingham from Sunday's card; I extended the letters top and bottom to give it a bit of interest.  The Pink Pirouette panel was embossed with the Fun Patterns embossing folder, and the Petunia Pop panel was stamped with some of the little fun elements in the set in Fresh Freesia:

The black ink and vellum gave me fits on this card and I had ink everywhere, so I needed to cover up a smudge (that never happens to you, right?) so I stamped a Stitched Rectangle panel with a sentiment from the retired Spooky Cat in Petunia Pop:

Thank goodness for extra cardstock!  So happy you popped in today!  Be sure to check out the AHSC blog to see what other inspiration you can find there, and share yours with us too! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS553 Boo!

Happy Thursday, peeps..I am WAY behind today with my card!  I finally got into my stamp room and came up with a card for the FMS sketch, although I love this sketch so much, I may just make another!  First, the sketch:

I was also inspired by the board at Two Old Bats challenge:

I pulled out a few old goodies and here's what I came up with:

I loved the little "boo" wallhanging, so I pulled out some Halloween papers and an old SU die called Timeless Type Junior to diecut the letters.  I used the Postage Stamp punch to punch out some squares of Natural White cardstock on which to mount them, stamping the bats from Scary Cute first.  The owl came from a retired set called Spooky Cat....such a cute layering image!

It's difficult to see, but I also embossed the main mat with the Stitched With Whimsey die!  For the inside, another sentiment and witch hat from the same set:

Spooky but not too scary!  Thanks for visiting today!

Last night was the Solanco Fair kickoff (Solanco stands for Southern Lancaster County) in the little town of Quarryville, which is where Dana works and Cassidy attends school.  They start the fair with a parade and this year's theme was "Hometown Heroes", honoring the fire, police, EMT and medical professionals who are heroes every day!  It was a beautiful evening for a parade!

Since it's a large agricultural community, there were lots of tractors, trucks, farm equipment, horses, and last, but not least, a real old-fashioned steam calliope!  You can see the steam came out multi-colored, too!  Lots of fun!  I'll share more pix later!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RetroRubber 142 Halloween Sketch

Happy Tuesday, stampers!  Are you ready for a wee bit of Halloween?  RetroRubber has a fun sketch for you to play with this week!  Check it out:

Image may contain: text that says 'Retro Rubber Challenge #142 SENT SENTIMENT August 25, 25,2020 September 4, 2020, sketch challenge #rrcb142'

I remembered that I purchased some fun Halloween papers from Papertrey last year, so I went to look for a "retro" Halloween stamp set to use with them!  Spooky Cat is from 2017, and that fun kitty seemed perfect for the rectangular panel! So here we go:

I stamped the cat in Terracotta Tile ink and punched it out with the matching punch, then mounted it on a Stitched Rectangle in Basic Black:

I cut strips and panels of the PTI papers, layering them a little askew for fun!  The sentiment is also from the same stamp set, diecut with the Tasteful Labels dies. I also added some glimmer stars in black and orange:

I stamped a sentiment from A Wish for Everything on the inside and added a wise old owl:

I hope you'll play along with our challenge this week!  This sketch is one I love!  Remember that your stamps must be at least a year old and you must tell us how old (approximately) they are! Can't wait to see what you create!  Check out what all the designers did at the Retro Rubber blog and give them some love, too!

A late summer rose still blooming in my flower bed:

Thanks for stopping by...enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS360 Spooky Cat

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday!  I actually got to sleep in a little bit this morning, what a treat!  I have one last Halloween card for you , then I need to start bulking up on my Christmas and birthday cards!  This one uses the FMS sketch for this week:

This card morphed into something totally different than what I had in mind when I started, LOL!  I wanted to use my cat punch, I haven't used it for a long time and I thought I would make a spooky moon for him to sit in front of, and it just kept going from there:

I used some Halloween papers from last year (Spooky Night) and some Pumpkin Pie glimmer paper.  I punched my cat from Basic Black cardstock and sponged around the edges with white craft ink to give him some dimension against the black DSP:

To make his eyes orange, I stamped them in white craft ink, then dabbed on some orange chalk from my old pastel chalk kit...worked like a charm!  I gave him a little magic wand and added a spooky "boo!" from Basic Gray cardstock that was stamped with a stripey image:

Finally I added a little sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes and punched it out with a Word Window punch...going old school here!  I made three of these and they'll be going in the mail today!!

So, in keeping with the orange and black theme, I promised I would show you what the kids' cookies looked like after baking:

So, I guess maybe black sugar isn't such a good idea....they definitely look burnt, LOL!  They sure had fun making them, though!   Cassidy didn't seem to mind a "charred" ghost:

Mommy was not so enthralled!  You can see Cassidy chowing down, though!  My brother happened to think they tasted okay too!!!

Thanks for popping in today...enjoy your day and be blessed!

SIP122 Washi for Halloween

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  It's time for another Stamp Ink Paper challenge...washi tape!  I WISH I had some washi tape similar to the challenge photo, it's beautiful!!!

Image may contain: 1 person

Unfortunately, I find that when I buy washi, I forget all about it, and then I don't use it, and then it
kind of loses its stickiness and I end up tossing it in the trash!🙁 But I did get the Pick a Pattern washi from the current catalog, so I used it to make a Halloween card:

I layered it on a mat of Pumpkin Pie, then ran it through an embossing folder to mimic the circles on the washi:

I added the cat from Spooky Cat, along with some extra stars I had cut out from this project, even giving Mr Cat a little star on his collar!

My final embellishments were some narrow grosgrain ribbon and a Daffodil Delight moon!

The DT has some delicious confections they created with washi tape, and I'm willing to bet you can come up with some too!  Be sure to check them out at the SIP blog, and share yours with us as well!  Thanks for visiting today!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SIP118 Anything But a Card

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  It's time for another Stamp Ink Paper challenge, and this is a fun one--anything but a card!

No automatic alt text available.

This challenge gave me a chance to play with the new Mini Pizza Boxes that are in SU's Holiday Catalog!  They are sturdy and fold together in a snap and are oh-so-fun to decorate!  For this Halloween one, I chose to make a sleeve that just slides on and off!  I used some Spooky Night DSP and created a rosette --haven't made one of them for a long time--and stamped some images from Spooky Cat and Pick A Pumpkin to embellish it:

(I will tell you that the rosette goes together fairly easily if you use a hot glue gun and have a circle of cardstock already punched out to which it can be adhered.  It can be tricky to get it to lay flat, but the hot glue sets quickly and stays put very well!)  The matching Patterned Pumpkin dies are fun, too!  I used some Pumpkin Pie glimmer paper from last year to create the little swirls that accent my treat box so well:

And since the Spooky Cat set is photopolymer, it's easy to line up the sentiments, which I diecut with the Stitched Shapes oval die:

And here it is, slid apart from the pizza box--hey, it's kinda cute just standing up on its own!

The SIP design team has some really cute items for you to peruse this week!  Be sure to go check them out, and we want to see your creations as well!  'Tis the season for all kinds of tricks and treats, so get busy!!

We have still had a few warm days, so Cassidy decided she was going to plant some sunflowers.  I didn't have the heart to tell her they probably wouldn't grow, and she was so intent on her chore, I just let her go:

I'll keep you posted as to their progress!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS305 BOO

Happy Friday, peeps!  I have a CRAZY busy weekend coming up, so this will be short and sweet!  I am finally getting around to playing with some challenges; this one uses the Freshly Made Sketches sketch by my sweet friend Amy:

Although some of the submissions have very creative ways to interpret it, I stuck really close to the sketch since I didn't have a lot of time!  This is a great one to use up little scraps of DSP...these are from several years back, I just went through my papers and pulled out some Halloween colors..they're not even really Halloween papers!  They were mounted on a 4 1/4" square card made from thick white cardstock:

I added a "BOO" diecut from black glimmer paper, along with a diecut bat, a little black mouse and some stars and stardust!

A cute little mixture of old and new!

This will give you an idea of what a sweetheart Wayne is; Dana had to get her nails done Thursday night before the wedding and ran out of time to work on Cassidy's feet....believe me, from a summer of running around barefooted, they needed some TLC!  So Wayne took her home, cranked up the foot spa, added some bubbles and gave Cassidy a little foot treatment!  What a guy!  Cassidy looks like she is enjoying it, too!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP359 BOO!

Hi everyone!  It's Sunday, and we are spending some time on the Elk River in Maryland!  But I was able to get some stamping done before we left and made a fun Halloween card using Laurie's cute Paper Players sketch:

I had several ideas for this sketch, it's so versatile, and I decided to use this cute little pumpkin from Seasonal Chums!  It's not just for tags!  Check it out:

I stamped it on watercolor paper and colored it in with an aquapainter and inks, then fussy-cut it out (I actually forgot I have the die, DUH!).  I mounted it on a panel of Spooky Night DSP that was cut with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border die and accented with a piece of Pumpkin Pie glimmer paper cut with the same die:

I also cut out a sentiment from the same glimmer paper:

and added a spider sitting on some spider web-embossed background:

I added a Basic Black glimmer paper bat diecut from the Seasonal Tags Framelits and some stamping from Spooky Cat for my inside:

As I said, this sketch is extremely versatile, so I hope you'll share your creation with us at our blog! Be sure to check out the DT's creations as well:

My sweet friend and teammate Sandy sent Cassidy this adorable little owl made from some fabric that SU used to sell!  Her name is Hannah...isn't she cute?!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
