Fun Fold Valentine

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I found a lovely card while scrolling through Facebook yesterday that featured a pretty (and pretty easy) fun fold!  Here's the YouTube link to the original card HERE.  Her card is 5 7/8" high and I cut mine down to 5 1/2" to fit in a standard envelope.  This is my prototype; I used retired Lovely Lipstick cardstock along with Country Floral Lane and Country Gingham DSPs, and several different stamp sets.  So here we go:

First, let me say that I know the Lovely Lipstick doesn't match the colors in my DSP and ribbon, but it was my prototype!!  The card starts as a gatefold, then when it is opened, the fun fold pops out:

I added some DSP panels and stamped the "Love You" in Real Red, then diecut them out.  The heart was punched from the DSP, and the "valentine" sentiment was fussy cut from the Love For You set as well:

The belly band is Mossy Meadow; I diecut a couple of panels for the sentiment, and I stamped the top floral in Petal Pink, filling in the leaves with a Mossy Meadow marker and the hearts with a Poppy Parade marker.  I added some of the Real Red ribbon for added interest:

I am going to enter this at Anything Goes with a Fun Fold!

I do have another quick little get-well card; it uses the sketch from  As You See It:

This is note-card sized; the base is Very Vanilla and I covered the front with a piece of Balmy Blue DSP:

I pulled out some really old stamps; the bird is from Of the Earth (2009) and the sentiment is from A  Dozen Thoughts (2013).  The diecut borders are from the Arts & Crafts dies....aren't they pretty?  I feel bad that I don't use them often enough!

The inside sentiment is from Friend to Friend (2004).  It feels good to get some older stamps inky!

So yesterday I took a little class at the local Senior Center and we learned to decorate cupcakes; this month's theme was animals!  So here is my labradoodle:

I definitely need practice with that grass tip!  And my polar bear, which looks more like a husky to me:

I've played with decorator bags, icing and tips, but had never made anything like this!  The fondant tongue just cracks me up!  John refuses to eat them, he says they're too special to eat, LOL!  Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

RRCB187 Hope

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Time for a new Retro Rubber challenge, where we use stamps that are at least a year old or older---give those stamps some love!  Today we have a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge!  I am sure you'll be able to find something on the grid to inspire you!  Here it is:

Of course I chose the top row across of circles, birds and diecut!  The problem was what bird to choose!  I remembered this pretty CTMH paper called Skylark that I 've had for a couple of years, so I pulled it out and that was the base for my inspiration:

The quote is from a SU set called Friend to Friend (2004), and it was stamped on Very Vanilla in Lost Lagoon ink, then diecut with the Stylish Shapes dies and backed with a retired doily and another circle of Crumb Cake.  I stamped a few "stitched" around the outside edge with the Stitchery stamp (2021) and distressed the edges.  I added a little bird diecut and some organdy flowers that I've been hoarding for several years as well, LOL!  And you may be able to see a tiny little bit of the Young Vermillion stamp (2011) that I stamped in Soft Seafoam right up at the very top right hand corner of the DSP. All the rest of the images are part of the DSP itself.

I stamped the Vermillion again on the inside of my card with Versamark ink, and stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment (also from Friend to Friend) on the inside.

I haven't made a vintage-style card for a long time, so I was thrilled to be able to put some of these elements together to create one!  I hope you'll play with us at Retro Rubber this week too!  Remember to check out the date of those older stamps (Splitcoaststampers has galleries where you can find any SU set and its age) and tell us the approximate age!  See you there!

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

RRCB156 Tiny Pastel Teacups

Happy Tuesday, all!  Time for a new Retro Rubber challenge where we challenge you to use your older stamps!  Here's our sweet prompt for this week:

Yes, pastels!!  What a nice challenge for spring, too!  I pulled out a little stamp from 2010 called Tiny Teacup, stamped it five times, and here we go:

I fussy-cut them out and mounted them on a diecut panel, then mounted that on an embossed panel, a Soft Seafoam panel and a white card!   I used So Saffron, Purple Posy, Soft Sky, Pink Pirouette and Soft Seafoam inks:

The sentiments are from Friend to Friend (2006), stamped in Pool Party:

I hope you'll play with our pastel challenge this week!  Just remember to use stamps at least a year old, and tell us how old they are!  Can't wait to see what you create!  Check out what the other designers did at the Retro Rubber blog!  Thanks for popping in today!

Dana and Wayne are doing some remodeling which included some painting!  Dana was doing her ceiling-painting thing, and noticed Eden; you always think of cats basking in the sun, but Eden's got that down pat too!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

100th Birthday Cardinal

Happy Friday, peeps! I got a request to make a 100th birthday card for a Christian lady who loves cardinals!  It's a challenge, though, to get out of the mindset of using cardinals only for Christmas cards!  I looked through my plethora of various 12x12 scrapbook papers and came up with a pretty pattern that I thought would look good with a red cardinal, and since I wanted to make it extra special, did a fun fold on it as well!  Here we go:

I stamped the cardinal from Toile Christmas on Shimmery White cardstock in Stazon ink, then watercolored  and diecut it, adding a branch from the Seasonal Layers dies and greenery from Rooted in Nature:

My card base is Soft Sky, and it's a wee bit larger than a standard-sized card.  The DSP is from Recollections, called Floating Flower. I cut pieces to fit each panel and stamped sentiments from Friend to Friend on the front panels in Smoky Slate, adding foam-cut numbers for the 100:

The center panel has some background stamping with stamps from Graceful Words and Wonderful Words:

And on the back, a sentiment from an old Cornish Heritage Farm set, with room for a signature!

My customer loved it and hopefully the recipient will as well!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

IB157 CAS Birthday

Hi peeps!  Wow, this week is whizzing by!  It's already time for a new Inspired By challenge!  Here's our pretty prompt for today:

I just loved the colors in the prompt, so I pulled out a die that I hadn't used in a long time to create some simple flowers for a birthday card.  Here we go:

I had been pushing this little scrap of green gingham around my desk, so I was happy to put it to good use, adding a sentiment from a sweet retired set, stamped on vellum and adhered on top of the stems with a little gem embellishment:

And I used a sentiment from the same set for the inside:

Instead of using the Inspired By sketch this week, I chose to use the sketch from CAS Colours and Sketches:

and since I used a "splashy" stamp from Gorgeous Grunge behind my flowers, I am entering this into the Splish Splash challenge at The Spot too!

I hope you'll get out some pretty stamps and ink and play with our challenge this week!  You can use the photo prompt, the sketch, or both!  Check out what all the designers did at Inspired By! And while you're there, welcome our two talented new designers, Silke Ledlow and Cindy Beach!  So happy to have them with us...I am going to have to "up" my game for sure! Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy got an interesting gift for Christmas from Wayne's parents....it's a kit to make your own markers!   Check it out:

Pick an ink color and fill the tube, then insert the wick:

Watch as the wick soaks up all the ink:

Assemble the rest of the marker...and try it out!  Cool!

Looks like there are lots of markers there to make lots of fun colors!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP392 Tea Party

Hey peeps! Happy Sunday to you all!  Nance is our Paper Players hostess today and she has come up with a sweet theme:

I don't have a lot of tea cup or teapot images, sadly, but I did have this little Tiny Teacup stamp saved from several years ago...I have been digging into my older stash of stamps a lot lately!  So I inked it up and here's what I came up with:

I used the color challenge from CAS Colours and Sketches:

as well as the sketch from the Inspire.Create challenge:

I began by stamping a panel of Soft Sky with the Paisley background stamp in Soft Sky ink and sponging the edges lightly with Sahara Sand ink.  I stamped three teacups in Berry Burst and fussy-cut them out, then mounted them on Whisper White circles that had been embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot EF.  They all went on a Sahara Sand panel that was diecut and also embossed with polka dots:

I added some twine from my stash and a couple of sentiments from Papertrey, stamped in Early Espresso, then stamped this oldie on the inside:

It's from a retired SU set called Friend to Friend!  Isn't it sweet?!  I hope you'll play along with our tea party theme...there are so many possibilities for inspiration, we hope to see your pretty creation among those in the gallery!  And here are the DT links for you to check out as well:
