CC&S274 Hip Hello

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  Does it feel like Monday to you?  It does to me....and this dreary, damp, no-sunshiney weather is doing a number on me!!!  AND no sun predicted all week!  GAH!  Well, at least the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge has a couple of sunny colors in their fun, interesting  double challenge this week:

I found this lined paper in my DSP stash that pretty much matched Hello Honey, and I stamped flowers from the retired Array of Sunshine directly on to the paper in Tangelo Twist and Going Gray:

I added a double-layer Hip Hello diecut (Poppystamps) in Hello Honey, added a few more leaves on the card base and finished it off with some Tangelo Twist ribbon and Going Gray candy dots:

Oh, and I added a little stitched diecut border at the bottom of my panel!!!  This was an interested color combo to work with, but I enjoyed it!

I have been wanting to post a few pictures of a little event we had at our church a couple weeks ago, but haven't had time! We had a "Daughters of the King" banquet, which is sort of like a mother-daughter banquet, prepared for us by the men of the church, and afterwards, we had a program called "Apron Strings"!  It was given by a set of 85-year-old Mennonite twins named Viola and Verna:

They read us poems and stories about aprons, shared their collection of aprons, and we had been told ahead of time to bring our own aprons to share!  Here are a few of theirs:

The three above were embroidered  gingham (what I might call chicken scratch), but they also had little canvas aprons that were nailbags, and they even had one for children:

They even shared quilts that they made featuring aprons!!

I'll share a few more pics later!  Thanks for popping in and enjoy your day!  Be blessed!

RetroRubber 82 and Some News!

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I am so excited, I finally get to share some news!  I've been asked to join the Retro Rubber design team!  And for a giggle, here's my "retro" photo....second grade (how I hated this picture), circa 1961:

As someone who's been stamping for 20-plus years, I certainly have lots of "retro" stamps and love to use them!  If you're not familiar with the challenge, it requires using stamps that are at least a year old, and you must tell the approximate age in your post.  For this week's challenge, we've got a tic-tac-toe from Jan!  Check it out:

No automatic alt text available.

I chose the left column:  pink, twine and birthday, and I used a set from 2011 called Array of Sunshine, and a set from 2016 called Suite Sayings...and here we go:

The papers are all from PhotoPlay, called French Flea Market; I stamped the florals directly onto some scripty paper in Blushing Bride and fussy-cut them out:

I diecut the leaves with the Flower Fair Framelits, then folded them and put them through my crimper....remember that nifty little tool?  When you unfold the leaf, it creates a very cool effect with a fun texture!  My final touches were some thick Very Vanilla baker's twine and a few little sequins tucked in here and there!  Oh, and I did stamp a sentiment at the bottom of the card as well!

I love tic-tac-toe challenges---so many choices!  I hope you'll play along with us; you have ten days  to play, then share it with us at the RetroRubber blog!  And if you have SU stamps and you're stuck and can't remember when they were released, you can locate almost any SU stamp set at Splitcoaststampers!  Just go to the SU gallery and scroll down; the sets are listed alphabetically and have the issue date!  Thanks for popping in today!

We had half day at school yesterday so the little boy across the road came over to play some games; this one is a Cat in the Hat game; you assemble a nerf-like limbo setup, then draw cards to tell you to some silly activity which might involve a book, a cake, a dress, etc. (all pieces that come with the game):

You might have to carry a ball on your belly while you tiptoe around the limbo poles, or try to jump over the limbo pole with something held between your legs:

There were lots of giggles, running, jumping, falling, and goofing around.  I will be glad when the weather gets warmer and they can run around outside!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB62 Spring Flowers

Happy Tuesday,  peeps!  This is the first of two posts today!  I was honored when Jane of Retro Rubber chose this card as a winner and asked me to be a guest designer!  Thanks, RR team!  Here is the beautiful prompt for their newest challenge:

Displaying RRCB 62.jpg

I love these challenges because I know we all have stamps on our shelves that haven't seen any ink for a while, and this is a chance to dust them off!  For today's challenge, I used two sets:  Array of Sunshine (2011) and Chalk Lines (2014):

I used last week's FMS sketch, which is too late to post, but I still liked it:

I love these big bold flowers!  I stamped each one and fussy cut them out, then added black glimmer brads to the center of the Blush Blossom ones; some speckles and Mint Macaron fronds created a background, and the lines of hearts gave it a nice horizontal element!  The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs:

I hope that you'll find some time to play with the challenge - we all can use some pretty spring flowers in our life!  Be sure to check out the RR blog to see what the other team members created as well!

Well, the construction, or rather demolition, has started!  First, part of the concrete patio was scored and removed, then the Bilco door and steps were taken out!  What a project!

Cassidy didn't know quite what to make of it when she came home from school!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CCMC418 and FF93

Hi peeps!  It's Saturday!  Yay, the weekend is here and I have a quiet week ahead as Cassidy will be on vacation!  I think my stamp room needs a serious cleaning up, though...gotta work on that!  Today's card features LOTS of different products, some retired and some current!  It's so fun to mix stuff up!  I used the sketch from Fab Friday; not sure why I haven't played very much with this fun challenge; and the colors from Create with Connie and Mary:

CCMC418

I admit that I was having so much fun with this little sketch, I got carried away and added GOLD...hope that doesn't disqualify me with Connie and Mary, LOL!  So here we go:

I used some Blooms and Bliss DSP for my left panel, which was diecut with an Adorning Accents (ret) Edgelit.  My Mint Macaron panel is some retired Birthday Bouquet DSP and is accented with some lace at the bottom.  My flourish is from Timeless Texture, as is the gold-embossed speckle; the  small flower is from Touches of Texture!  For my larger flower, I used a bloom from Array of Sunshine (ret hostess set) as well as a couple of flowers from Endless Thanks.  The bow is from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlet, and the gold swirl is from Swirly Scribbles.  I used a combination of two sentiments for my banner:  Teeny Tiny Wishes and Endless Thanks.  I told you I used a lot of stuff today!!

I have a special friend who will be receiving this in the mail very soon!  Thanks for popping in!

The great-nephews, a neighbor of ours, and Cassidy had some pool fun earlier this week:

Cassidy was obsessed with the neighbor's little mohawk....look how patient he was to let her play hairdresser!  Even though he doesn't look it, he was a good sport about it!  He lets her be bossy, LOL!

I am almost at the end of my birthday cards....this happy creation is from my friend Debbie:

and this beauty is from my teamie, Nance:

Have a blessed day and be sure to come back tomorrow for a new Paper Players challenge!

ColourQ181

DSCF3336-001

It’s Tuesday and that means a new palette from Arielle for the ColourQ:

Oh my goodness, how Arielle comes up with these inspiration photos is beyond me!  I would love to have this bracelet!  My head was spinning with possibilities….not sure I really carried it off as well as I would have liked to, but here it is:

LeAnne_CQC181

This card is chock-full of retired stuff as well as current stuff!  Some of the current stuff includes the Large Scallop edgelit, one of the Delicate Designs EFs; a Two Tags diecut cut from Whisper White as well as Polka Dot Parade DP in Daffodil Delight, and sentiments from Fabulous Phrases.  Retired stuff includes Brilliant Blue and Brocade Blue, and the hostess set Array of Sunshine as well as the Gingham stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms.  I used the sketch from the RetroSketches challenge this week:

It was fun to play with this pretty palette….almost made me believe spring is coming!  I hope you can play with us too.  Stop over at the ColourQ blog to see all the fabulous stuff that’s there!

Who knew a little box full of glue sticks would get such a reaction from my little bedhead?

And here’s my card:

The card base is So Saffron; the flowers are from Array of Sunshine; sentiments are various non-SU sets.  I stamped off the flowers and the leaves, added some pearls and ribbon and it was done!  TFL!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for a new Paper Players challenge, too!
