Paper Players 186

DSCF1319

Hi peeps!  Are you ready for another Paper Players challenge?  Anne Marie is our hostess and she has chosen a fabulous color challenge for us today:

I just love this!!!  But sadly, I needed another sympathy card, a masculine one this time, so I thought the colors were perfect.  I hate for my sympathy cards to be too terribly dark:

This man was a firefighter, and our trucks are yellow…..so the colors seemed appropriate as well!  I used the Scalloped Tag Topper punch, some washi tape, the Gorgeous Grunge, Simply Stars and Teeny Tiny Wishes sets as well as a few other accents.  I used the CAS(e) This Sketch sketch 67  for this week for my layout:

Hope you will be inspired with these lovely colors to create something as well, and be sure to share it with us at the Paper Players blog!  Meanwhile, check out what the team did with the colors:

Phew, it’s Friday!  YAY!  I am hoping this week is on its way to settling down!  I have had this card made for two days and haven’t had a chance to post it!  It uses the Color Throwdown colors for this week:

and the Freshly Made Sketches sketch from Karren:

Now, in my haste, I totally missed that the sentiment was supposed to be at the TOP LEFT…but I am submitting it anyway and since I love the three panels sketch, I may just do another one!  I need to bulk up my birthday card supply!  So here we go:

I stamped the three panels with the Gingham Wheel, and added an embossed background (which is difficult to see), a couple of stars and a little denim doodad, finished off with some candy dot brads.  I had most of these supplies already on my desk from my last card, LOL!

I unmounted my Gingham Wheel and adhered it to some clear-mount cling foam (you can find this on page 197 of the current SU catalog) to make it a bit easier to use.  Now off to run some errands!  But first, a little Cassidy pic getting her creative on:

Paper Players 183

DSCF0919

Happy Sunday, peeps!  It’s time for another Paper Players challenge, and today I have a clean and simple challenge for you:

Today is my daughter Dana’s birthday, and she LOVES stars, and she loves purple and silver, so I made her birthday card using both:

I used the Freshly Made Sketches sketch for this week:

and I used the sets Simply Stars and A Dozen Thoughts, and an assortment of ink colors and cardstocks:  Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Silver Glimmer, Silver Foil, and Brushed Silver.  The stars were all punched with the retired small star punch.  I added my sentiment on a little paper-pierced circle, stamped a little silver star from the retired Itty Bitties set, and finished it off with silver ribbon!  To make sure my ribbon stayed in place, I did a one-hole technique, taught to me by my upline, Pennie.  You can see a tutorial for it here:  One Hole Bow tutorial.

So, now how will you do your clean and simple starry card?  The design team has a plethora of fun ideas….some will surprise you….so be sure to check them out:

Forgive me if I shared this photo before, but this is a picture that Cassidy drew of Dana, including the “wrinkles” between her eyes!!!

ColourQ 309

DSCF7580

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Ahhh….things are beginning to get a wee bit back to normal around here….not quite, but almost!  Arielle kicked up her inspiration for the ColourQ with these amazing boots:

If I was even remotely able to wear these, I’d snag them in a heartbeat!  Aren’t they cool?  I decided to go a bit literal, using a Unity cowgirl boot stamp I’ve had for a while:

I heat embossed the boots with Versamark, Basic Gray ink and clear embossing powder, then used an aquapainter and inks to color in the boots.  I added panels of DP in Island Indigo and Raspberry Ripple, mounting the whole shebang on a Regal Rose card.  My sentiment was stamped on a little diecut from the Circle Card thinlits.....what fun those dies are!!!  Stars are from Simply Stars.

I also used the Mojo Monday 309 sketch:

and since I did some watercoloring, it's good for the Just Add Ink challenge this week, which is coloring!!! And here’s the inside:

I was intrigued by the interpretations of the design team….some really fun creations there, so make sure you stop by the ColourQ blog to see what they came up with….and share your creation too!  Enjoy your day!

A recent session playing with homemade “play-dough”…..a bit of a sticky mess, but she had fun!
