SSSC297 Sympathy

DSCF3136
Hi, all!  My sweet friend Linda lost her husband very suddenly…she is devastated, obviously.  I wish my blog friends didn’t live so far away!  I am hoping this card brings her some comfort.  I didn’t want it to be dark and somber, and I thought these papers from BoBunnys Pincushion collection were sweet:

I used the sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge:

and a sentiment from Thoughts and Prayers.  I added a scallop, a remnant of a doily left from another project, and I used a circle punch to punch out a little heart from a scrap left from the background.  A narrow black grosgrain ribbon finished it off.

Thanks for popping in today!
It was the annual “ throw the pumpkins out in the woods” event:

First, we saved a few seeds from some of the pumpkins, then hauled them out to the woods in the garden wagon:

SSSC296 Birthday Bird

DSCF3012
Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I have a 80th birthday card for a sweet lady at our church….she had a nice little open house party which we couldn’t attend because of a funeral, so I wanted to make a pretty card for her.  I knew which stamp I wanted to use, but needed a fairly large element to accommodate the image.  I found a great sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge:
I got this bird image from Red Lead stamps; it’s actually larger than this, but I had to cut off some of the definition!  He is stamped in Smoky Slate on Very Vanilla and the papers are from the Pink Paislee Indigo Bleu line.

I added a scallop in Smoky Slate as well as an embossed banner, accentuated with a twill ribbon and some enamel dots:

My final embellishment was an organdy rose, which I thought was a pretty accent!

SSSC257 and CCCB250 Scrappy Card

DSCF8209

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I have a cheerful card today using scraps!  The City Crafter Challenge Blog wants us to use up some scraps today and I sure have a lot of them!

I also used Karen’s Sweet Sunday Sketch:

I pulled out a bunch of scraps from the Best Year Ever SAB DSP package, along with a few scraps of cardstock, to create my card:

I had some Calypso Coral cardstock already embossed, so I punched out a circle along with the cute little banner from You Brighten My Day for my embellishment:

Some twine and a punched border finished it off!

DSCF3625

Happy Friday, everyone!  I have a sweet thank you card for someone who did something sweet for me after I did something sweet for her, LOL!  And so I am using the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge shown here:

to make this:

LeAnne Pugliese Thank You Vellum Card Stampin Up

My friend (and I am sure she knows who she is by now!) gave me some gorgeous 12x12 papers, and I just had to use this particular one because both sides of the paper are so pretty, and worked perfectly with the sketch.  Using both Versamark and Strawberry Slush ink, I stamped a sentiment from Another Thank You on a piece of vellum and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I then backed it with a piece of Whisper White on which I had stamped a few leaves from Papaya Potpourri.  I punched a flower from Strawberry Slush with the Pansy punch, distressed it and separated it into two pieces and added a Crushed Curry blossom (Boho Blossoms punch) and a Candy Dot brad:

And because my sweet friend is so thoughtful, she included some stickers for Cassidy to play with, and so Cassidy made a thank-you card of her own:

Have a great day!

Oh, here’s another thing that Grammy lets Cassidy do:  play with her food!  This time, it’s cheese!  Did you know that you can cut cheese into shapes and make things with it?

2 Sketches

DSCF1156

Hi everyone!  I had a wee bit of stamping time on Monday and utilized a couple of sketches!  The first one was from The Kraft Journal:

My four top-selling downline received one of these cards:

Here are closeups:

I used the SAB set See Ya Later and papers from the Fresh Prints and Retro Fresh lines, as well as the little banners from Banner Blast.

The second one was a thank you card for a sweet friend, and it uses the Sweet Sunday sketch challenge 208:

I used some papers that were “gifted” to me, along with vintage images from Established Elegance and French Foliage, in shades of Pink Pirouette and Basic Gray.  It was embellished with some shabby seam binding, a glimmer heart and an organdy rose; sentiment is from Itty Bitty Banners:

If you have any questions about products used, just shoot me an email!

One of Cassidy’s special treats when she has a sleepover is to make popcorn.   She is just fascinated when that mountain of popcorn begins to come out of the chute!  She calls it a snowbank of popcorn!!!  It was a worthwhile yard sale investment of $4, whenever I see that look on her face!!

Catered Crop & SSSC181

DSCF3758

Happy Thursday, everyone!  Woohoo!  I was so excited when Linda at Catered Crop posted that this card was one of her top choices last week!  So this week, her challenge is to use twine!  I’ve been using some twine here and there, but I wanted to step it up a bit for her challenge, so I pulled out my colors and went to work:

DSCF3757

This card is for my foot doctor!!!  I know, who sends their doctor a thank-you card, right?  But I had been procrastinating about a little lump on the bottom of my right foot that was beginning to get really painful; I could not walk barefooted without a lot of discomfort.  I imagined an operation, not being able to drive, etc; I was concerned, too, that I wouldn’t be able to chase Cassidy around!!!  He took me in on a Saturday morning, examined my foot, told me it wasn’t serious, and removed that little lump (which was a callus), right there in the office, and now I can walk on it with NO PAIN!!!  I am so thankful that it wasn’t more serious, and he had such a great bedside manner, I just wanted him to know how grateful I was!

The letters are from PTI and they are mounted on a piece of cardboard with various shades of twine wrapped around; the papers are some scraps I had laying around, and the layout is from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 181:

My original card used letters in Crumb Cake, but they didn’t really stand out, so I cut a second set from Chocolate Chip and mounted them offset, so it created a shadow effect:

DSCF3759

Finally, I added “so, so much” at the bottom, which is a portion of a sentiment from Delightful Dozen.  I really had fun with this card—I hope you’ll stop over and visit the Catered Crop!  Linda has a terrific sense of humor and is a wonderfully creative stamper as well!

I had some place mats on the table from Easter, and Cassidy took it in her head that they would make a good blanket for Lambie:
