Paper Players Sketch Challenge 31

DSCF6280

You have to promise NOT to laugh too hard at this silly card!!  Today’s Paper Players sketch challenge comes from Ann, and it is a lovely sketch!  However, I promised that I would veer away from my vintage kick, and I did---I wanted to use my new SAB set Punch Bunch, my new (to me) Owl Punch, AND I wanted to keep up with my own personal Christmas card challenge!  But first, here’s Ann’s sketch:

Ann's Sketch 31

And here’s my creation:

PP Sketch #31

Oh my, there is a LOT going on here!  How do you like my little Santa owl?

DSCF6279

I made good use of the Real Red Glimmer paper featured in the mini catalog:  his “coat”, hat and the border are all punched from it.  I also glittered up his hat brim and the snowflake from Northern Frost (still available!) with some DD glitter, too, and added a Glimmer brad!

The other little circle embellishment is made with three little trees diecut from the Merry Details die, and they’re all glittered up too!

So there you have it---a bright cheery Christmas card!  What will you do with this sketch?  Post your creation over at the Paper Players blog so we can all look at it---have fun!

CD 93, FTL124 & CCCB40 – Smile!

DSCF6284-1

In light of my recent success at the Color Dare, I decided to play again!  The colors they “dared” us with are Pacific Point, Regal Rose and Pink Pirouette!  I snagged this adorable free digi sentiment from my sweet friend Arielle—you can find it here—and the sketch 124 from Clean & Simple:

FTL124

to make this card:

After discovering that SU markers DO NOT mix well with computer-generated images, we did a retake with some Copics –much better success!  I made a little “bouquet” of hearts as the floral image, which also qualifies this card for the City Crafter Challenge 40, to make your own flowers.  And guess what!  My little punkin had similar colors on yesterday:

Stampin’ Royalty Challenge 55

DSCF6256-2

Stampin’ Royalty’s challenge this week is to use anything with wings!  Since I already had my Nature Walk sitting on my desk, and I needed a thank you card, it was a no-brainer!  I LOVE bees---one of the main reasons I got this set---so I decided to highlight that little bee for my small 4x4 note card:

DSCF6257

I guess I am stuck on vintage this week…..I used lots of vintage SU images, faux stitching this time instead of using my sewing machine, same seam binding technique, a couple of vellum butterflies and some pearls!  I added some Jelly Roll sparkle to the small butterfly and the bee’s wings  (which you can’t really see):

Moxie Fab & LRW64

DSCF6254

I needed a get-well card for a friend from church; at 52 years old, she suffered a massive stroke.  Her symptoms and recovery are very similar to Gabrielle Giffords’, so it has been heart-wrenching yet encouraging to see the progress she’s made.

I used the colors from the Neutrals Color Challenge for Color Inspiration for Card Makers Week in the Moxie Fab World – what a mouthful!  Here are the colors:

Moxie Fab ColorComboN2

which in my case are Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake and Marina Mist.  Perhaps Baja Breeze would have been a better choice….I love these colors together, so I may just make another!  I also used the Little Red Wagon challenge 64, to make a one-layer card.  I love the technique that my friend Nance used on this card, where she inked up an acrylic block and used it as a background, so for my CAS card, that’s what I did:

DSCF6253

Using a 4 1/4” square of Very Vanilla textured cardstock, I inked up my blocks in the three colors, then stamped the larger floral image from Vintage Vogue over top.  I added the sentiment and narrow ribbon, rounded the opposite corners and my card was done.  I REALLY wanted to add some bling and glitter and layers, but I resisted!  CAS all the way!

Thanks for visiting!

  • Stamps:  Vintage Vogue
  • Paper:  Textured Very Vanilla
  • Ink:  Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Marina Mist
  • Acc:  Narrow Grosgrain Ribbon, Corner Rounder, Square Acrylic Block

Color Throwdown 125 and SSSC100

DSCF6232

Happy Wednesday to everyone!  If you missed the drawing for all the prizes from the CTD team yesterday, check out the CTD blog for all the details!  Now, on to this week’s colors!  Barbara is our hostess and she has chosen these beautiful, soft colors:

swatch 125

I pulled out some Basic Grey Capella and Melissa Frances Home for the Holidays DPs and my new SU set, Nature Walk to make this card.  LOVE that set!  This card will be a thank you for someone who was very sweet to me!  So here we go:

DSCF6231

I also used Karen’s Sweet Sunday Sketch, turned on its side:

SSSC100

A few detail shots:

DSCF6234

Love the vintage look of these images!  The sentiment is from Word Play, stamped in Soft Suede.  I also stamped the bee in White Shimmer paint, which gives it a nice little subdued glimmer.  Some stitching, a ruffle-y seam binding, a glittered scalloped edge, a felt heart and some pearl embellishments finish it off.  The glitter looks rather raspberry here in this picture----it’s a bit more subdued IRL!

Now, let’s see what you can create with these colors!  Submit your creation via Inlinkz over at the CTD blog; meanwhile, you can check out all the designers’ creations for inspiration:

ColourQ68 & FTL123

DSCF6224

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Another ColourQ challenge coming your way!  What do you think of these colors:

cqc68

Unfortunately, I am not too good at using floral images on my cards, so I went with something a little more abstract today!  I used the Fall to Layout#123:

FTL123

to make a get-well card for a young lady in our congregation who had to have emergency appendectomy surgery this week!

CQC68_LeAnne

Pretty straightforward; I used the Beautiful Wings embosslit for my butterflies and mounted them on a square of Confetti White that was run through the Square Lattice EF.  The words are from PTI’s Autumn Abundance…that set has such nice sentiments!  A little stitching, gathered ribbon, some bling…..I hope it brings a smile to her face!

How about bringing a smile to our faces and playing with the Colour Courtiers this week?  Hop on over to the CQC blog and show us your creative side using these colors!
