Vintage Halloween

DSCF6324

My fun friend Shirley Pumpkin at Cute Stuff by Shirley LOVES Halloween.  She is having a 12-week long Halloween blog hop, and while I don’t have many Halloween stamps, I do have bunches of Halloween stickers & stuff that I have collected and (ahem) not used!  So, using the Our Creative Corner sketch from this week:

OCCSCsketch file-002

and a vintage Tim Holtz sticker, I made this card:

I realize my lower panel is not quite wide enough…I hope they don’t mind! (Where was my brain when I did that?!)   I used some images & sentiment from the Crafty Secrets Vintage Halloween set along with some Cosmo Cricket & SU papers.  Here is the inside sentiment, which is a retired Lizzie Anne single:

Heehee, I love it!  Thanks for visiting today!  Play along with Shirley's hop---she’s got a giveaway!  Any questions??? Give me a shout!

ColourQ99

DSCF6262

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Check out this awesome color combo from Arielle today:

cqc99

Doesn’t this make you happy?  I just bought some fun felt in colors very similar to these!  I was tempted to use them on my card, but  I already had mine created; here ya go:

CQC99-1

Easy peasy!  A couple of star punches (hint:  punch the smaller star first, then the larger star, centering the cutout!), some baker’s twine, SU’s new Stripes embossing folder and sentiments from PTI.  Oh, and matching buttons! And I used the small star punchouts on the inside as well:

CFC16 & SSC217

DSCF6322-1

Happy Monday, peeps!  Just a quick post today – a quick little CAS card using the sketch from Stampin 411:

ssc217

and the CAS-ual Fridays challenge 16 which was to use embossing.  I broke open my new Domestic Goddess DP for this one:

DSCF6322

I used a Polka Dot EF and the Boho Blossoms punch for my embellishments, along with some Pool Party ruffled ribbon!

DSCF6323

Really simple!  I love the colors in this paper—so fresh!  Speaking of fresh, I have tomatoes from the garden calling me, so that’s it for today.  The baby is teething and not feeling well, so my DD stayed home to be with her—which means a day off for Grammy and no pictures!  Sorry!  Hopefully on Wednesday we’ll have some new ones!

Be sure to come back tomorrow for a new ColourQ challenge!  Have a great day!

Wee Details:

  • Stamps:  Touch of Kindness
  • Paper:  WW, Textured WW, Poppy Parade, Domestic Goddess DP
  • Ink:  Poppy Parade
  • Acc:  Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Boho Blossoms Punch, Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon, 1/8” punch

Paper Players 60

PP60 banner

Happy Sunday everyone!  It’s Paper Players time and this week I am the hostess!  With Lesley’s help, I made my first sketch!  I hope you’ll play with us this week!  Here’s the sketch:

And here’s my card:

PP60

I took the opportunity to make another Christmas card for my stash using some new stuff—Well Worn designer paper—as well as some old stuff—the reindeer from Winter Post.  Although it is difficult to see, my little reindeer are heat embossed:

I don’t have Cherry Cobbler embossing powder, but I do have clear embossing powder, so I inked my stamp in Versamark, then Cherry Cobbler ink, then stamped it on River Rock cardstock.  I sprinkled the clear EP on top, heated it up and voila—Cherry Cobbler embossing!  You can use this technique with any color ink—just be sure to clean your stamp between each stamping!!!!  I used the Music Notes wheel for my background on the Very Vanilla panel as well as part of the Well Worn panel, and added some of that sweet new quilted ribbon that will be available in the Holiday Mini:

The inside also uses a new set that will be available in the mini, Sounding Joy:

Thanks for visiting, and please do stop by the Paper Players blog to play long using my sketch this week!

I am itching to start some Halloween cards, so this was perfect for me!  I pulled out Fang-tastic and a blender pen to do a little bit of coloring:

Brayered Embossing

DSCF6267-1

At my stamp club earlier this week, I showed my club girls how to use a brayer  while embossing to get more uses from your folders!  We made this card:

DSCF6266-1

using the Stripes embossing folder and Kindness Matters stamp set.  You can see the details of how I did the “gingham” in this post.  Just make sure you ink the inside “lid” of the embossing folder, the piece that you lift up; the front piece, so to speak.  If you don’t have a brayer, you can just rub your stamp pad over the folder, but you get a more even effect with a brayer.  This card uses Crumb Cake, Confetti Cream and Calypso Coral.

Some other samples I made:

DSCF6268-1

This uses the Finial Press embossing folder, Very Vanilla cardstock and Sahara Sank ink.  The embellishments were all cut from Beau Chateau Designer Paper.

DSCF6270

The last one used the brayer directly onto the already-embossed piece.  This uses Finial Press again, Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit, Basic Black and Brushed Gold cardstocks, and Gold Encore ink:

Awry Christmas Card

DSCF6261

Oh, this poor Christmas card had so much potential!  Unfortunately, I was working in late afternoon light, too lazy to turn on my desk lamp and after I photographed it and began this post, I realized my greens are NOT matching…..oh dear:

DSCF6259

Oh well….I am posting it anyway!  I missed posting my Christmas card from last week so I thought I had better get back on track!  I used some Brenda Walton chipboard pieces and some scraps from my pile to make a little vintage card.  It’s really  pretty IRL, even if my greens don’t match!

I had my kitchen cupboard rearranged a bit yesterday:

Enjoy your day!  If you have any questions about the card, shoot me an email!
