Move aside Sarah Palin it looks like at least one prominent Democrat is pushing for former Senator Scott Brown to get the VA cabinet position.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on Thursday praised her onetime opponent Scott Brown, who President-elect Donald Trump is considering nominating to be secretary of veteran affairs.

In an interview with Boston’s WGBH, Warren offered enthusiastic support for Brown, whom she unseated in the often-contentious 2012 Massachusetts Senate race.

“If Scott Brown is the nominee for Veterans Affairs, I have no doubt that he would put his heart and soul into trying to help veterans,” she said. “And I would put my heart and soul into trying to help him do that. You bet I’d support that.”

Warren has a personal stake in the Department of Veteran Affairs ― all three of her brothers served in the military.

Apparently Brown HAS met with Trump about the job and publicly thanked Warren for her endorsement.
While it would seem odd that Warren would endorse the man who she beat out for the job as Massachusetts Senator for a cabinet position, perhaps considering her families connection to the military she is just desperate to keep the VA out of the hands of Sarah Palin.

I don't know much about Brown's qualifications, but at least he himself did serve in the military, and is not simply trying to get credit for raising a kid who joined the Guard to avoid jail time, or for marrying off one his daughters to a Medal of Honor winner.

That awkward moment at a tailgate party where your supporters start yelling out misogynist comments aimed at your female opponent. Scott Brown's solution? Just keep on smiling as if nothing is happening.

(Video contains language NSFW.)

Courtesy of the Daily Kos:

In the video, Brown never stops smiling as several men in the crowd of tailgaters surrounding him shout things like "Fuck Jeanne Shaheen" and "Fuck Elizabeth Warren" and "Fuck her right in the pussy" and something about a "cunt."

These were not a few stray catcalls, as you'll see on the video. They were constant and unmissable, but Brown just kept gladhanding his way through the crowd, obviously not bothered by the aggressive misogyny of his supporters. This tone is also nothing new to a Scott Brown campaign. Sexism was a constant undertone in his campaigns against Martha Coakley and Elizabeth Warren, with the candidate himself once offering a female reporter beer while saying "I’ve seen you in the bars before, don’t act like you’ve never been to a bar ... We’re gonna have her dancing in the back of the truck."

According to tweets, Brown gave out beer to undergrads at the event, though his campaign denies it. Presumably the campaign's next move will be to deny that Brown heard anything resembling "Fuck Jeanne Shaheen," but it's going to be difficult to persuade anyone who's seen the video of that. This really isn't going to help Brown tighten the gender gap.

Look what was Brown supposed to do?

I mean should he have manned up, confronted these individuals and risked losing their support?

Or simply resorted to his strongest hand which is always to play dumb?

Well it's Scott Brown so that is really not a choice. (Besides don't we all think he secretly agrees with the frat guys?)

Lawrence O'Donnell ridicules Scott Brown's choice to walk away from politics to join Fox News. Says he "completed a full Palin."

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Every time I see Palin's resignation speech I am reminded how incredibly panicky she seemed as if she were terrified of what was coming. Considering how things worked out, she should have been!

You know I don't think I will EVER get tired of seeing Sarah Palin used as a measuring tool for determining just how badly a politician, or public figure, is doing

With Scott Brown out Massachusetts Republicans are so deperate they are thinking of recruiting Romney. No, not that loser Mitt, they want his wife or son.

"What you're not even going to ask me? Well I would have said no anyhow...probably."
Courtesy of the Boston Herald:

Massachusetts Republicans are desperately scrambling to find a strong Senate candidate to replace Scott Brown, with some even trying to persuade Mitt Romney’s wife or son to jump into the race to avert another electoral disaster.

The former GOP senator’s decision to stay out of the June 25 special election surprised and angered some Republican leaders, who said it will make it much harder to beat a Democratic opponent without Brown on the ballot.

“I’ve had several people call me and ask about Ann Romney,” Ron Kaufman, a longtime friend and aide to the former Massachusetts governor and 2012 presidential candidate nominee, told the Herald.

You know I don't usually like to encourage Republicans as a rule but I would like to give my full throated endorsement to this idea.

Please, oh please, oh please let one of the Romney's run for this seat. I would LOVE to see another one of them get crushed by a Democrat, while Ann bitches about how lucky "you people" are that another member of her precious family has deigned to sully themselves by seeking political office, for the "good of the country."

But if I may make ONE suggestion, instead of Ann or Tagg being drafted as the candidate, can we have Josh Romney instead?

He just seems to have the laser like focus that one expects from a robot from Dimension X a candidate for the Senate.

Okay seriously, does he ever even blink?

I think I know why the Democrats are not worried about Scott Brown getting elected to John Kerry's Senate seat.

Courtesy of Boston.com:

Former U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy confirmed Saturday that his Connecticut-based brother, Ted Kennedy Jr., is considering running for the Massachusetts Senate seat that will become vacant if U.S. Sen. John Kerry is confirmed as the next secretary of state.

Patrick Kennedy told The Associated Press that his 51-year-old brother has been receiving calls from their late father’s former colleagues and friends, including former Connecticut Gov. Lowell Weicker Jr., urging him to consider running in the anticipated special election.

Patrick Kennedy said he expects his brother could announce a decision before Tuesday, which is Christmas.

Okay let's face it, NO WAY is Scott Brown going to beat Ted Kennedy's son in Massachusetts. No way!

This is not for certain yet, but I have to believe that for it to have been leaked by Patrick Kennedy it is all but a done deal.

Gee I wonder how John McCain and Lindsey Graham feel about their efforts to vilify Susan Rice now?

While you have all been living your sad and dreary lives, Senator Scott Brown has been busy meeting "kings and queens." Wait, what?

"One of the kings I met even gave me his crown. Great burgers too by the way."
Courtesy of Salon:

The Massachusetts Republican made the comment during an interview Thursday on WTKK-FM, after being asked if it was time to move beyond questions about Democratic rival Elizabeth Warren’s claims of Native American heritage to discuss other issues. Brown renewed his criticism of Warren, but also defended his work as a senator.

“Each and every day that I’ve been a United States senator, I’ve been either discussing issues, meeting on issues, in secret meetings and with kings and queens and prime ministers and business leaders and military leaders, talking, voting, working on issues every single day,” Brown said.

When asked for further explanation about the secret meetings, a campaign spokesman said Brown was “referring generally to private meetings with foreign and domestic leaders.”

“He misspoke when he said kings and queens,” Brown campaign aide Colin Reed said. The head of the state Democratic Party called on Brown to release a list of his secret meetings.

“If Scott Brown rests the substance of his campaign on meeting with royalty, he should tell the people of Massachusetts who he met with and what they talked about,” said Massachusetts Democratic Party Chairman John Walsh.

Hey it's a simple mistake. You meet a guy with a name that you can't pronounce, who speaks in an accent you can't understand, of COURSE your going to assume that he is the king of “Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan" or some other place that Herman Cain could not remember, right?

After all it's NOT like he said this over an over again, or anything.

Oh, okay well THAT'S embarrassing.  Can you believe this buffoon now holds Teddy Kennedy's old Senate seat?

So Massachusetts, ready to elect a COMPETENT Senator now?

It should not even be a contest.

(H/T to the Political Carnival.)

Update: By the way, for those who are not sure about how this race is going, there is a LOT of support for Warren, and her campaign contribution numbers are the best in the country:

Since September, she has hauled in nearly $16 million, more than any of the 1,613 candidates officially running for Congress on the March deadline, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

Things are looking pretty good for just about EVERYBODY'S favorite candidate for the Senate.

Ka-Ching! Elizabeth Warren raising money like a boss!

"She raised how much?"                           "You bet your ass I did."
Courtesy of the Huffington Post:

Former consumer advocate Elizabeth Warren (D) raised $6.9 million in the first quarter of 2012 in her bid to unseat Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown (R), her campaign declared Monday.

The nearly $7 million appears to be the largest quarterly haul of the election cycle for a nonpresidential candidate and shows off the national star appeal of Warren, the architect of President Barack Obama's Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Campaign manager Mindy Myers focused on Warren's Bay State strength, however, in an email to supports that announced the eye-popping figure.

"That's more than double the amount raised by our opponent," said Myers, acknowledging that Brown still has about $4 million more than Warren has in the bank.

"There's a lot of work ahead to do to close the gap. But this proves we're building something special," said Myers, adding that Warren "out-raised Scott Brown right here in Massachusetts."

Myers said that more than 30,000 people from 350 Massachusetts cities and towns contributed and that 83 percent of the donations since January have been for $50 or less. Those points were aimed at countering GOP charges that Warren, a former Harvard professor, is primarily an outsider backed by Washington forces.

This may be the most exciting political campaign of 2012.

Well besides that one between the President and the guy who makes the color beige look interesting
"I wonder what I'm thinking today? I better ask my campaign."
Nope I think the Massachusetts campaign is definitely more exciting.

Elizabeth Warren not just a candidate, she's a cause!

Courtesy of Business Insider:

Elizabeth Warren raised $5.7 million over the last three months of 2011 for her challenge to Republican Senator Scott Brown who currently sits in the seat once occupied by Ted Kennedy. That haul of cash is twice what Brown raised in the same quarter.

Warren still has a long way to go to match Brown dollar for dollar – he has $12.8 million cash on hand – but she has something that Brown has lost.

She is not just her party's nominee; her candidacy is a cause for liberals nationwide.

Warren's candidacy is the rallying point for liberals who believe Wall Street exercises too much power over the American Republic. She stands for re-regulating it, and promoting a vision of America as a commonwealth, where everyone has a stake in each other's success.

Like I have mentioned a few times before, if I lived in Massachusetts I would be all over this campaign.

If Warren takes this seat away from ex-Teabagger candidate Scott Brown, that will be a HUGE shot in he arm for the progressives in this country and it will really demonstrate that the mood of the country has taken a very interesting shift toward intelligent governance.

I think I am going to LOVE 2012!

Elizabeth Warren moves ahead of incumbent Scott Brown in Massachusett's poll.

Courtesy of UMass Amherst:

A political poll conducted by the University of Massachusetts Amherst finds that Elizabeth Warren, the leading Democrat in the field of challengers to incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, is running even or perhaps ahead of Brown in a potential matchup next fall.

Warren leads Brown by 4 points among registered voters in the UMass Amherst Poll, 43 percent to 39 percent, the difference being within the 4.4 percent margin of error, say UMass Amherst political scientists Brian Schaffner and Ray La Raja. The poll finds Warren is drawing strong support from women, middle-to-low income residents and younger voters. Brown maintains a large lead among Independent voters while Warren is getting overwhelming support from Democratic voters in Massachusetts.

"These numbers could mean trouble for Scott Brown," Schaffner says. "The race is a dead heat and his support is well under 50 percent, which usually means difficulty for an incumbent, especially this far out from Election Day."

I have probably mentioned this before but it bears repeating, Elizabeth Warren is just about my FAVORITE candidate going into 2012. If I were living in Massachusetts I would be working like a dog on her campaign.

I think her chances are pretty good.

Brown came in on that wave of Teabagger support in 2010, but since then he has essentially shown himself to be no more than a pretty face atop an empty suit, and not only are the Teabaggers disappointed with his performance but they themselves are essentially yesterday's news as well.

Personally I would love to see Ted Kennedy's Senate seat back in the hands of the Democrats, and I think Warren is just the politician to pull it off.

Here is Warren's first campaign ad.

(P.S. If any of my IM friends are in Massachusetts and have any updates on the campaign, I would love to hear them.)

I think I have a new hero.

Courtesy of Talking Points Memo:

Former White House financial reform adviser Elizabeth Warren, who is now running to challenge Republican Sen. Scott Brown in Massachusetts, is turning out to be one Democrat who is not shying away from the Republican cries of “class warfare” against President Obama’s proposals to raise taxes on those with very high incomes — instead offering up a full-throated rebuttal about the benefits that the wealthy were able to obtain from society at large, and the need to give something back.

In a video of a recent Warren appearance, posted online by an individual who says he or she is not affiliated with the campaign, Warren answered the charge. “I hear all this, you know, ‘Well, this is class warfare, this is whatever,’” Warren said. “No. There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own — nobody.

“You built a factory out there? Good for you. But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for. You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate. You were safe in your factory because of police-forces and fire-forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn’t have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory — and hire someone to protect against this — because of the work the rest of us did.

“Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea. God bless — keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is, you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.”

Damn! That makes me want to pack my crap and move to Massachusetts, JUST so I can vote for her!

My fellow Democrats Elizabeth Warren should now serve as the absolute model of the perfect candidate that we need to recruit for 2012.

And by the way, Scott Brown better watch his ass!

Entire Massachusetts congressional delegation participates in the "It Gets Better" project. With one notable exception.

Wow that was very uplifting!

I am really impressed that ALL of the Massachusetts delegation were able to come together, and do something so positive for the LGBT community in their state. That was really quite touching.

But you know, it felt to me that there was something missing.  Did you notice it too?

Yeah that's it!  Scott Brown, where in the hell was Scott Brown?

Did he not get the memo?

A Democratic Hill staffer with knowledge of the project told The Huffington Post that Brown was invited to participate, but he declined.

"Scott Brown has a strong record at the state and federal level against bullying and believes that all people regardless of sexual orientation should be treated with dignity and respect," said Brown spokesman Colin Reed when asked whether the senator had been asked to appear in the video. "His main focus right now is on creating jobs and getting our economy back on track."

Yeah you know I don't think that anybody's segment on that video was more than a few seconds long.  Surely THAT would not seriously take away from the time that Senator Brown needed to "create jobs" or get the "economy back on track."

I mean someone might start to think that Scott Brown hated the gays or something!

What's that?

Arline Isaacson, Co-Chair of Massachusetts Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus stated, “Scott Brown has voted consistently against the LGBT community throughout his entire career in the Massachusetts legislature. His has not been an incidental opposition. He has voted against us loudly, proudly and unequivocally.

Unfortunately, most people don’t realize just how bad his record is:

–He voted over 25 times against marriage equality, even when 3/4 of our legislature and many MA Republican legislators stood with us.
– He doesn’t support the Transgender Civil Rights & Hate Crimes bill
– He opposes repealing “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell”
– He opposes repealing the “Defense of Marriage Act” (DOMA)
– He has ridiculed LGBT parents as inadequate
– He supported anti-gay policies of George W Bush & Mitt Romney

Ohhh!  I get it now.  Brown is one of THOSE guys.

You know the ones that are so insecure about their sexuality that they are constantly making sure that they don't do anything which might accidentally appear gay, like stripping down for a national publication.

Oh, yeah that's right.

Well to be fair, Brown WAS quite a bit younger during his "drop trou for Cosmo" days, and besides there is NOTHING gay about that pose. (Okay well it might be a little gay.)

Still there is some hope that Brown is not one of those idiots that goes over the top to prove they are a strapping heterosexual by posing in a vaguely inappropriate manner with their scantily clad daughters. Because that would be just....oh.

Oops, I spoke too soon.

You know maybe the Massachusetts LGBT community is better off WITHOUT Senator Brown's participation in their "It Gets Better" campaign.

Because I don't know about you, but he kind of gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Besides, I am still not sure whether homophobia is something you are born with, or something that you get from your environment, so perhaps it is best to keep Senator Brown away from impressionable young teenagers. At least until science is certain about the issue.

Sarah Palin takes her victory lap on Fox Business channel.

Palin's remarks about Alaskans "waking up" and wanting smaller government are a clear indication that she has NO idea how our small state was able to build our infrastructure and provide safe roads and airports for its citizens.  The fact that she was elected Governor of this state is going to confound historians for generations to come. She knows NOTHING about how Alaska has manged to survive and thrive in the 50 years of its existence.

When she brings up Senators "going along to get along" or adopting a "herd mentality" essentially she is saying that when they cooperate to get legislation passed, and hopefully get construction projects okayed and  for their state, that they should then be "fired" and that somebody else should be hired it shows an incredible lack of understanding as to how the Senate works.  If she is suggesting that Joe Miller will sit in the Senate for his entire term, refusing to cooperate, and essentially playing with his dick for six years, than I have little doubt that Alaskans will quickly fire HIM when his term is up and hire somebody who understands the damn job!

And THEN unbelievably she goes on to condemn Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown, a man she once giddily endorsed, for actually understanding how to do the job he was elected to do!

That woman...is an idiot!

Update:  I almost forgot to add that little miss anti-big government took 27 million dollars in federal money when she was the mayor of Wasilla, a town of only 6,700 residents at the time. Fifteen million of that was for a rail project to connect Wasilla to Girdwood.  A project by the way that NEVER GOT PAST THE PLANNING STAGE!  Yet that money seems to have simply disappeared, and is, as far as I know, still unaccounted for.

Yes she is definitely an idiot, but she is also a crook and a hypocrite!

What if you threw a party and nobody came? Republicans avoiding Sarah Palin's Boston Tea Party like the plague!

From the Boston Globe:

The GOP’s big names are skipping today’s Tea Party rally. Charlie Baker, the leading Republican candidate for governor, has a, um, scheduling conflict. Ditto state Senator Richard Tisei, his running mate.

Nor will you see US Senator Scott Brown, who, to hear the talk-radio types tell it, pretty much owes his election to the Tea Partiers. Count me as dubious about that. I was out on the campaign trail the weekend before the election, and I didn’t see much evidence of The Tea Party at Brown’s events. Of course, those same attention-craving talk-radio types remind me of the opportunistic 19th century French politician who, hearing a noisy crowd nearby, supposedly declared: “There goes the mob. I am their leader. I must follow them.’’

But don’t take the snub personally, folks. It’s not so much you as it is the headliner. To succeed as a Republican in Massachusetts, a politician needs broad appeal, and rubbing shoulders with Sarah Palin simply isn’t going to confer that.

“Being associated with Palin is a political anchor around the neck of any Republican who wants to win in Massachusetts,’’ says one Republican strategist. “The image of her is that she is not too smart, a little kooky, and way too conservative.’’

Scott Brown snubs Sarah Palin, avoids Teabagger rally.

From the Boston Herald:

U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, whose stunning victory in January was fueled in part by Tea Party anger, has snubbed the fiery grassroots group and declined its invitation to join Sarah Palin Wednesday at a massive rally on Boston Common, the Herald has learned.

Brown’s decision to skip the first big rally in Boston by the group whose members are credited with helping him win election has some experts saying he’s tossed the Tea Party overboard, as he prepares for re-election in 2012.

“He wants to mainstream himself before the election,” said Larry Sabato, a University of Virginia political scientist.

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Sarah Palin's favorite teabagger centerfold has decided that he wants to vote with the Democrats. Do you think that will be a problem?

At about 6pm the office of Scott Brown, the new Republican Senator from Massachusetts, put out a short press release saying he would be voting with the Democrats on a $15 billion (£9.7 billion) job creation Bill heavily promoted by President Obama.

Two veteran Republican Senators went in search of Mr Brown and tried to change his mind. They failed. He took his newcomer’s seat in the back of the Senate chamber and waited for Senator Harry Reid, a Democrat, to finish his pitch for the jobs Bill with a ritual taunt of Republicans who he assumed were “looking for ways not to vote for this”. Mr Brown then confounded Mr Reid by voting “yes” and told the instant throng of reporters that gathered round him as he emerged from the chamber: “I’m not from round here. I’m from Massachusetts”.

What? The guy that the both the Republicans and teabaggers claim is a game changer and indicates the end of the Democratic party has voted with the Dems? Quick somebody check to see if Rush Limbaugh's head has exploded (But then again how could we tell?)

Un-surprisingly some of Brown's more...shall we say....excitable supporters were very, very perturbed. This from Huffington Post.

Over at Scott Brown's Facebook page, the mood is much the same, probably because David Broder hasn't written a column yet telling America that the jobs in this jobs bill are so much more awesome than the jobs that came before them because they are "bipartisan." Some of Brown's fans are giving him some support, but the lion's share of comments read like "LYING LOW LIFE SCUM HYPOCRITE!" and "What a bummer dude. We didn't need another Olympia Snowe," and "BROWN, YOU JUST REMEMBER YOU DOUCHEBAG...WE ARE WATCHING YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! AND YOU FAILED AT THE FIRST CHANCE...YOU SCUM SUCKING ASS!!! GUESS MY 10-15 HOUR WORK DAYS WILL HELP PAY FOR THIS TOTAL BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!"

Wow! And I thought people were pretty mad at ME yesterday! What I got was nothing compared to the vitriol aimed in this poor bastard's direction.

Well you know what comes next don't you Senator Brown? Oh yes you do! You just wait until Sarah Palin can get that lazy Facebook ghostwriter back on the job, then my friend you are in for such a Facebook ass kicking you will not be able to walk straight for a month!

Well that is if she and Todd can stop stressing about the Trig ear problem for a few minutes that is.

Hold the phone! Is it possible Scott Brown DIDN'T win Massachusetts? WTF? Update!

According to preliminary media results by municipality, Democrat Martha Coakley won Massachusetts overall in its hand counted locations,* with 51.12% of the vote (32,247 hand counted votes) to Brown's 30,136, which garnered him 47.77% of hand counted votes. Margin: 3.35% lead for Coakley.

Massachusetts has 71 hand count locations, 91 ES&S locations, and 187 Diebold locations, with two I call the mystery municipalities (Northbridge and Milton) apparently using optical scanners, not sure what kind.

ES&S RESULTS

The greatest margin between the candidates was with ES&S machines -- 53.64% for Brown, 45.31% for Coakley, a margin for Brown of 8.33%. It looks like ES&S counted a total of 620,388 votes, with 332,812 going to Brown and 281,118 going to Coakley. Taken overall, the difference -- 8.33% Brown (ES&S) added to 3.35% Coakley (Hand Count) shows an 11.68% difference between the ES&S and the Hand Counts. Of course, as Mark Twain used to say, there are three kinds of lies: Lies, damned lies, and statistics. These statistics don't prove anything, and probably shouldn't be discussed without a grain of salt handy before examining more detailed demographics.

As a point of reference, however, in the Maine gay marriage issue recently there was no significant overall difference between machine count and hand count locations.

DIEBOLD RESULTS

Diebold's results are 51.42% for Brown, with 791,272 Republican votes counted by Diebold, vs. 47.61% for Coakley, with 732,633 Democratic votes counted by Diebold, for a spread of 3.81% favoring Brown.

LATE-REPORTED RESULTS

It's always interesting to watch hand counts beat machine count results to the newspaper.

In the Massachusetts special senate election, results from six of 71 hand count locations were reported about 2 1/2 hours after the polls closed, with the remaining 65 hand count locations in right away. The slower hand count results represent 8.45% of all hand count locations.

These latecoming hand-counted results favored Coakley very heavily (she got 55.68% of these, earning 4,610 votes to Brown's 42.9%, representing 3,552, a 12.78% margin) Whether the reports came to the media late or the media posted them late is unclear.

Son of a bitch!

Why in the hell did Coakley concede before a hand recount was conducted at ALL of the polling locations?? And why did the MSM not pick this story up?

So NOW we learn that Ted Kennedy's senate seat might STILL be in the hands of Democrats, and that the 60 vote, filibuster proof margin for health care could still have still been retained, and because Coakley conceded before they asked for a hand recount, she potentially damaged her party, her President, and her country.

I have no words.

(A very grateful hat tip to Jerry. Thanks for this link buddy.)

Update: Some people are arguing that I am jumping to conclusions or that the discrepancy between the machine count and the hand count is not that important.

I disagree with both arguments.

I am not saying that Coakley won this election, I am saying that because she conceded we will never really know if she won or not.

We KNOW that there have been multiple problems reported concerning our electronic voting machines.

We KNOW that the teabaggers poured a lot of money into Scott Brown's campaign and that the outcome was very important for their cause.

We KNOW that there were no exit polls conducted.

With all of those considerations it would seem obvious that such an important election would call for an increase in scrutiny and that the Democrats demand a recount if the election went in Brown's favor. There is nothing wrong with that, and we can say with absolute certainty that if the election had gone Coakley's way the Repugs would have thrown a giant hissy fit and demanded a recount as soon as possible. And they would have been completely within their rights to do so.

But what did Martha Coakley do? She conceded only an hour after the polls closed!

Why? Was her favorite television show about to start? Did she have a hot date? Did she leave her fucking oven on? What could possibly have been more important then making sure every Massachusetts's voter's ballot was counted correctly?

Not one damn thing! And yet nobody seems to have cared enough about Ted Kennedy's senate seat to to glove up and fight for it.

Martha Coakley, the people of Massachusetts. and the Democratic party should all, each and every one of them, feel ashamed. You let down your country. You let down your President. And you shit on the memory of Ted Kennedy.

Don't you hate it when your parents fight?

The other day I almost posted Jon Stewart's spanking of Keith Olbermann in response to Keith's over the top evisceration of Scott Brown. I resisted because watching my two favorite TV personalities going at each other made me want to hide under my bed and call family services.

But when I saw how Keith Olbermann took what Stewart said to heart, and act like a man about it, well I just felt that we all needed to see it. I am sorry if it stings a little.

Scott Brown will not only represent Massachusetts as it first Republican Senator in 40 years, but he will also teach your children some new words.

It looks like this Scott Brown character has a history of rather inappropriate outbursts, like the bizarre statements about his daughters during his acceptance speech.

This from an article about Brown's profanity laced discussion with a group of 80 high school sophomores in 2007.

State Senator Scott Brown, a rising star in the state's depleted Republican ranks, yesterday defended his use of profanity during a student assembly at King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham, saying he simply repeated hateful statements that had been posted online about him and his family.

"I was merely reading the things that they had written about me," Brown said in an interview. "What's the issue, exactly? I don't quite know what the big deal is, exactly."
Brown, the father of "American Idol" finalist Ayla Brown, read the postings Thursday -- and, in some cases, identified the students he believed had written them -- during a meeting with about 80 sophomores who had invited him to discuss his opposition to same-sex marriage.

Yesterday, Brown said his speech in the school library has been blown out of proportion. Brown appeared on at least two radio shows to defend himself, saying the messages he read were a small part of his speech.

Some of the messages, posted on the social networking site Facebook.com, used profanity and made reference to his family, he said. Brown's daughter is a basketball player at Boston College. The comments were posted on a page dedicated to a history teacher at the high school who supports gay rights and have since been removed.

"A couple of people objected to the language, and I said, 'I object, too,' " Brown said. "It's offensive, in that I now have to justify why I repeated what kids said about me, as if I'm doing something inappropriate. "

Brown told Statehouse News Service that he used the "F-word" twice.

Students who heard Brown speak said he read the profane statements "loudly and pretty angrily."

"Some teachers immediately were outraged to hear the language that was used," student Stephen Small told WHDH-TV. "Some people still feel it was inappropriate to read them word for word."

As others have pointed out in another thread, I have daughter. And if my daughter were called names on Facebook, or any other place, I would be pretty damned mad. However THIS is not about a father's anger. This is about subjecting other people's children to inappropriate language in a public school setting.

Sure we know these kids undoubtedly know these words, and some may even use them with some frequency, but when it comes from an adult, a STATE SENATOR for God's sake, it has a very different effect.

Something about his guy is very troubling, and I have to wonder how the voters of Massachusetts managed to miss it. Even after he received a substantial amount of blow back Brown was unapologetic.

Here Brown compares his use of inappropriate language to a sex-ed film shown to students about how to avoid pregnancy and the risks of STD's.

You know this whole thing kind of reminds me of that story that Sarah Palin tells in her book about the threats posted online about gang raping her daughters. Sarah also talked about sexual abuse directed at her children, but at least in Scott Brown's defense HIS example actually happened.

Not that he handled it properly, he certainly didn't. But at the very least there was actually something to respond to that was not just a figment of his imagination. Of course, just like Sarah, he still shamed his children in front of their peers and of course again in front of the whole nation during his acceptance speech. I am going to have to research this whole "family values" thing, because it must not mean what I thought it meant.

I don't think Glenn Beck got the "Everybody needs to support Scott Brown" memo.

First during his radio show.

And later on television.

Just from Scott Brown's acceptance speech alone I have to wonder if Massachusetts will not suffer "buyer's remorse" fairly soon.

I know that he was very excited, and undoubtedly exhausted, but some of his comments, especially those directed at his daughters, were a little strange, if not out and out creepy.

Even his own family, who should be used to his sense of humor, seemed a little taken aback.
