Courtesy of the Daily Beast:
Bernie Sanders cares about the little guy. Except when the little guy disagrees with him.
That’s the message the Democratic presidential candidate sent when his campaign threatened legal action against a small T-shirt vendor who had dared to make fun of him.
Late last week, a Seattle lawyer representing Sanders’s campaign demanded that LibertyManiacs, a three-employee online merchandising shop, immediately take down T-shirts that humorously portrayed the Vermont senator alongside a pantheon of communist figures, with the caption: “Bernie is my comrade.” (A red star replaced the dot over the ‘i’ in Bernie for emphasis.)
Using high-priced lawyers to bully a small business that is making fun your campaign is an odd move for a politician who has built a grassroots movement on protecting average Americans from the whims of the rich and powerful.
Okay come on now, if this is not straight out of the Donald Trump playbook I don't know what is.
And if Sanders wants to continue in this race he better grow a thicker skin because this just the beginning.
There is also a book coming out that claims Sanders was kicked out of a commune for being lazy, and renewed discussion of the fact that he spent his honeymoon in what was then the Soviet Union.
Let's face it this is only the tip of the iceberg for the negative things coming Bernie's way.
There is a whole lot that has not yet been revealed that is going to get under his extremely thin skin and cause him no end of irritation should he continue forward.
The difference between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton is that she thrives while under constant attack, and he has not faced anything even remotely like this in the past.
Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Just a little something for our 2nd Amendment fetishists to keep in mind.
Here is the entire quote from Marx's Address to the Central Committee to the Communist League, tell me if any of this sounds familiar:
To be able forcefully and threateningly to oppose this party, whose betrayal of the workers will begin with the very first hour of victory, the workers must be armed and organized. The whole proletariat must be armed at once with muskets, rifles, cannon and ammunition, and the revival of the old-style citizens’ militia, directed against the workers, must be opposed. Where the formation of this militia cannot be prevented, the workers must try to organize themselves independently as a proletarian guard, with elected leaders and with their own elected general staff; they must try to place themselves not under the orders of the state authority but of the revolutionary local councils set up by the workers. Where the workers are employed by the state, they must arm and organize themselves into special corps with elected leaders, or as a part of the proletarian guard. Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary. The destruction of the bourgeois democrats’ influence over the workers, and the enforcement of conditions which will compromise the rule of bourgeois democracy, which is for the moment inevitable, and make it as difficult as possible – these are the main points which the proletariat and therefore the League must keep in mind during and after the approaching uprising.
So while these so-called conservative constitutionalists have been telling themselves they were following the lead of our founding fathers, in fact they were taking their marching orders from the father of communism himself, Karl Marx.
Pinkos!

Michelle Bachmann claims that she defeated her liberal foes using "evidence based arguments." Wait, what?
Courtesy of Raw Story:
Bachmann told World Net Daily, which referred to her as a “GOP legend” in the headline, that she had become a media target because she had basically outsmarted her liberal foes.
“I took them on, and their agenda, and I went to the heart of whatever it was they wanted to advance, and tried to take it apart through evidence-based arguments, and they don’t like that,” Bachmann said. “When the left argues, they argue from emotionalism.”
“That’s the best way to defeat them, by the way — defeat them with evidence and defeat them with their false premises, and I did that,” she said.
“The Republican Party always gets a bad rap because there are not as many women that are in elective office, but it’s a tough business,” Bachmann said. “It is public humiliation, public ridicule, constant criticism when you’re in public office – if you take on the left.”
Yeah, I don't think the ridiculing had anything to do with her gender.
Let's revisit some of Michelle Bachmann's "evidenced-based arguments" shall we?
These are courtesy of the Daily Kos:
Accusing members of Congress of being "anti-American:
The news media should do a penetrating expose and take a look. I wish they would, I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress and find out are they are pro-America or anti-America.
Claiming that the Obama Administration was going to be forcing Americans to attend re-education camps:
The real concerns is that there are provisions for what I would call re-education camps for young people, where young people have to go and get trained in a philosophy that the government puts forward and then they have to go to work in some of these politically correct forums.
Claiming that actor John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa, when instead it was serial killer John Wayne Gacy:
What I want them to know is just like John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa, that's the spirit that I have too. It's really about not being ashamed of America. It's embracing America.
Terrifying parents by relaying an unsubstantiated story from an anti-vaxxer:
There’s a woman who came up crying to me tonight after the debate. She said her daughter was given [the HPV] vaccine. She told me her daughter suffered mental retardation as a result. There are very dangerous consequences.
Claiming that earthquakes and hurricanes are messages from God about reining in big government:
I don't know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We've had an earthquake; we've had a hurricane. He said, 'Are you going to start listening to me here?' Listen to the American people because the American people are roaring right now. They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we've got to rein in the spending.
There are more, in fact the Daily Kos lists 40 altogether, but I think we get the point.
That my friends is the kind of "logic" that Michelle Bachmann used to "defeat" us.
Gosh, I guess we never had a chance.

Wonkette once again dips their little piggies into the Sarah Palin Channel cesspool, and discovers Palin giving a book report. Wait, what?
This courtesy of Wonkette:
How did all this come up? Because one of Palin’s subscribers asked if she’d read Chambers’ 1952 best-seller Witness as an example of how all that has happened before will happen again, only this time it’s Barack Obama who’s the godless communist infiltrator, and this time, he’s also a Muslim! DUH, Palin has read the book, it was one of Reagan’s faves, and of course her favorite part involves Jeebus.
"It’s the part where [Chambers] describes the critical moment when he began his break with communism, when he saw the light. It was the moment when he first realized that God exists. Ah this is, this is awesome and inspiring to me, how it happened. It happened while he was doing something every parent here has done — he was watching his baby daughter sitting in her high chair eating her breakfast. And as he looked at her intricate and perfect little ears, he suddenly realized that those ears could not have been created by any chance coming together of atoms in nature, which was what the communists believed. No, he knew they had to have been created by an immense design, and that design presupposes God!"
Is anybody else having a weird out of body experience while listening to Palin blabber on about God and ear design?
Especially considering the mystery surrounding the ears of a certain child whose auditory receivers seem to change shape as often as Sarah Palin's bustline:
There is a saying that criminals often return to the scene of the crime, but it is also true that liars often revisit their fabrications, just to see how well they have stood up over time.
As we know Palin is constantly bringing up Trig's crazy birth story, almost begging people to call her out on it. And now it seems that there are other deceptions that she is equally proud to remind people about.
By the way as Wonkette points out there is quite a lot of evidence within the fossil record to explain the evolution of the mammalian ear. None of which I would assume would make any sense to a person of Sarah Palin's intellectual limitations.
Though it is interesting that Palin so readily dismisses the evolution of the ear, when there is ample evidence that Trig's ear continued to evolve even after his birth. (Eventually of course returning to its original form.)
Speaking of limitations, does anybody really believe she actually read that book?
Cause I don't.

Ted Nugent refers to the President as a "subhuman mongrel" while promoting his hunting show.
Courtesy of Media Matters:
Nugent made the comment during a January 17 interview with Guns.com at the 2014 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show), an annual gun industry trade show that draws 60,000 firearms industry professionals. Nugent was representing the Outdoor Channel, which airs his hunting show Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild. Nugent and Outdoor Channel recently announced a multi-year endorsement deal where Nugent will make "talent appearances on the network's behalf at top consumer and industry trade events."
In announcing the deal, Outdoor Channel's CEO said that Nugent "symbolizes everything that is right in our industry."
In addition to describing "Barack Hussein Obama" as a "gangster," Nugent said the president and other liberals should be jailed and face "the just due punishment that their treasonous acts are clearly apparent":
NUGENT: I have obviously failed to galvanize and prod, if not shame enough Americans to be ever vigilant not to let a Chicago communist raised communist educated communist nurtured subhuman mongrel like the ACORN community organizer gangster Barack Hussein Obama to weasel his way into the top office of authority in the United States of America. I am heartbroken but I am not giving up. I think America will be America again when Barack Obama, [Attorney General] Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton, [Sen.] Dick Durbin, [former New York City Mayor] Michael Bloomberg and all of the liberal Democrats are in jail facing the just due punishment that their treasonous acts are clearly apparent.
So a lot of people would call that inflammatory speech. Well I would call it inflammatory speech when it's your job to protect Americans and you look into the television camera and say what difference does it make that I failed in my job to provide security and we have four dead Americans. What difference does that make? Not to a chimpanzee or Hillary Clinton, I guess it doesn't matter.
Jesus what an incredible piece of garbage.
Well if this is what "symbolizes everything that is right in our industry," I think that is pretty much all I need to know about the gun industry.
I guess this explains some of Sarah Palin's most recent racist remarks on Facebook. Apparently THIS is what people who own guns and watch hunting shows expect from their TV hosts.

Pope says he is not offended by being called a Marxist. Oh the Right Wing is going to poop themselves over this one!
Sticks and stones bitchez! |
Pope Francis responded to critics who call his stance on capitalism Marxist, saying in a new interview that the political and economic philosophy is flat "wrong."
"Marxist ideology is wrong," the Pope told the Italian newspaper La Stampa in an interview published on Saturday. "But I have met many Marxists in my life who are good people, so I don’t feel offended.”
Earlier this month, the conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh blasted the pontiff, calling his latest major writing, an apostolic exhortation called Evangelii Gaudium, "pure Marxism."
"It's sad because this Pope makes it very clear he doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to capitalism and socialism and so forth," Limbaugh said.
Pope Francis told La Stampa that, “there is nothing in the Exhortation that cannot be found in the social Doctrine of the Church.”
The 50,000-word statement calls for church reform and castigates elements of modern capitalism.
I swear that Pope Francis is going to cause Rush Limbaughs heart to give out if he keeps making these statements. (And if he does by the way I will be one of the first to call for naming him a saint once he passes. I know, right?)
Do you know who must be secretly digging what this Pope is saying like probably no other person on the planet?
This guy.

Just a reminder that America's ostentatious displays of religiosity are not about reaffirming the fact that many believe this is a Christian nation, and all about reminding the world that we are capitalists.
Courtesy of Religious Tolerance:
In 1956, the nation was suffering through the height of the cold war, and the McCarthy anti-communist witch hunt. Partly in reaction to these factors, the 84th Congress passed a joint resolution to replace the existing motto with "In God we Trust." The president signed the resolution into law on 1956-JUL-30. The change was partly motivated by a desire to differentiate between communism, which promotes Atheism, and Western capitalistic democracies, which were at least nominally Christian. The phrase "Atheistic Communists" has been repeated so many times that the public has linked Atheism with communism; the two are often considered synonymous. Many consider Atheism as unpatriotic and un-American as is communism. The new motto was first used on paper money in 1957, when it was added to the one-dollar silver certificate. By 1966, "In God we Trust" was added to all paper money, from $1 to $100 denominations.
The same was true in the case of adding "One nation under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance.
Courtesy of Historic Documents:
In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today:
It should be noted that in 2002, Michael A. Newdow, an Atheist from Sacramento, CA, was successful in having the phrase "under God" declared unconstitutional by a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. However, an act by Congress limited the power of the Judiciary, thus preventing the removal of the phrase.
So not only were the "One Nation Under God" and "In God We Trust" phrases added to reinforce America's true religion, Capitalism, even after the addition to the pledge was deemed unconstitutional, the Congress simply circumvented the wishes of the Founding Fathers.
How patriotic of them.
Apparently nothing is quite as important as making sure that Socialism, Communism, and let's not forget Atheism, are not allowed to gain a toe hold in this country.
But hey, I'll try not to let it bother me.

Uh..Sarah Palin? I think one of your supporters needs their medication adjusted.
If you strain your ears and attempt to hear anything past the spittle ridden diatribe, you can just make out Michele Bachman giving one of her wingnutty speeches in the background.
A couple of points.
First, I am sure that this guy cannot be a good indicator for the mental health of all of the Teabaggers. Right?
Second, since he is from Nicaragua it proves that the Teabagggers cannot just be racists either. Right? (Of course until you hear his accent he could easily pass for a person of European heritage.)
However I have seen a number of these videos, and granted they were made by people not terribly sympathetic to the Teabagger movement, but they still do show some very unhinged, or tragically misinformed people showing up at these rallies.
I am just saying.

Time Magazine asks "Why Does Glenn Beck Hate Jesus?"
When Glenn Beck told listeners of his radio show on March 2 that they should "run as fast as you can" from any church that preached "social or economic justice" because those were code words for Communism and Nazism, he probably thought he was tweaking a few crunchy religious liberals who didn't listen to the show anyway. Instead he managed to outrage Christians in most mainline Protestant denominations, African-American congregations, Hispanic churches, and Catholics--who first heard the term "social justice" in papal encyclicals and have a little something in their tradition called "Catholic social teaching." (Not to mention the teaching of a certain fellow from Nazareth who was always blathering on about justice...) (To read the rest of his article just click here)
I often get accused of hating Christianity.
I don't.
However I am often EXTREMELY frustrated that the gentle and reasonable Christians that I grew up with stay silent as their religion is hi-jacked by slick haired televangelists, anti-abortion extremists, and hate filled religious homophobes.
So I have to admit that I am glad to see at least some in the Christian community (many still remain quiet) coming out against the insane attack on the fundamentals of their religion from this teabagging wing nut.
When I heard Beck make the statement that Christians should "run from their churches" if they preach social justice I thought "If the Christians ignore this attack on their principles they can no longer claim to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ." So I am heartened to see at least SOME response.

Washington Post compares "Palinism" with McCarthyism.
Try this on for size: Palinism. What is it? It is an updated version of McCarthyism, which takes its name from the late Sen. Joseph McCarthy, the Wisconsin liar, demagogue and drunk, and means, according to Wikipedia, "reckless, unsubstantiated accusations, as well as demagogic attacks on the character or patriotism of political adversaries." As far as we know, Sarah Palin is not a drunk. (Well as far as we know. If I had to guess I would lean more toward over the counter pharmaceuticals. But that is just a guess.)
But she certainly shares McCarthy's other attributes -- and this one as well: the ability to drive the debate. In McCarthy's day, it was anti-communism coupled with national security, and it hardly mattered that he frequently did not have his facts straight. He got huge amounts of attention anyway.
With Palin, the subject is health care, which in many ways is the Red Menace of our day and lends itself to a kind of political pornography. For sheer disregard of the facts, her statement about President Obama's "death panel" has to rank with McCarthy's announcement that "I have here in my hand a list of 205" (or 57 or 72 or whatever) names of communists in the State Department. They were both false -- McCarthy's by commission, Palin's probably by omission. She rarely knows her facts.
(Just click the title to read the rest of the article.)
