Ohio mom with conceal carry permit accidentally shoots and kills her two year old daughter.

Courtesy of Cleveland.com:

A 2-year-old girl was accidentally shot and killed by her mother at a hotel Friday night, police say.

The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. at a hotel on Euclid Avenue, according to a post on the Wickliffe Police Department's Facebook page.

Police received a call about a child that suffered a gunshot wound.

The first officer who made it to the scene performed CPR on the child and paramedics took over once they arrived. The girl was pronounced dead at Lake Health West Medical Center, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicated the mother was handling the gun when it went off and a bullet struck the girl in the chest.

The mother was in legal possession of the gun and has a concealed carry permit, police said.

It has not yet been determined whether or not the mom will face criminal charges.

This literally makes me so sad that I cannot come up with anything snarky to say.

But let's just remind people that having a gun in your house, or on your person, increases the likelihood that a loved one will be shot and killed 100%.

No gun = no accidental shootings.

Gun introduced = dead two year old.

Ohio 8 year old shoots 4 year old sister multiple times. The 2nd Amendment at work.

Courtesy of Mansfield News Journal:

A mother was arrested Saturday evening after an 8-year-old boy shot his 4-year-old sister Saturday afternoon, the Ashland County Sheriff's Office reported.

The sheriff's office was notified around 2:30 p.m. Saturday that the 4-year-old had been shot and sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Ashland County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Carl Richert said the 4-year-old was shot "multiple times" and initially treated at University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center before being taken to a Cleveland hospital.

Richert said the girl was in stable condition when she was transported. The child is currently in stable condition and is expected to recover, according to the news release.

The Ashland County Prosecutor's Office will review the case Monday, Richert said.

Both children have been removed from the home, he said.

Multiple times does not seem like an "accidental shooting."

Perhaps this little boy was simply standing his ground and his little sister simply would not stop touching his things?

Or perhaps he simply lives in a house where the adults believe that guns are harmless and only a danger to the "bad guys."

Guns kill. How hard is this for people to understand?

Jordan Loewe tells the Daily Mail that Sarah pressured her to stay mum about Track's abuse.

I was not going to post about this story twice on the same day, but this needs to be shared.

Courtesy of the Daily Mail:

The college graduate said the Palins were upset with her for involving law enforcement.'I got the cold shoulder for calling the police and tarnishing their name,' Jordan said.

'I was very particular about when I called the police and I didn't call them often. If I had called the police every time he pulled out a gun, then he would be in jail.

'To his family, I was still kind of the bad guy for calling the police and blowing this up. The answer to them is, "we don't call the police because that's our reputation".

'I don't really know what they believe but I definitely got some rude text messages, to say the least, about calling the police.'

After that famous incident where Track kicked her and threatened to shoot himself, the Palins had this response about her calling the police:

'I got a text to say I was disrespectful and not respecting their privacy; that I shouldn't have been drinking and I was blamed for that.

'There was never any responsibility put on Track or what he did or what happened.

'I think safety over reputation or a last name, that's pretty important. I still can't believe that they took priority over my life and Charlie's life.

'I disappointed them by calling the police and asking for help because I thought I was going to die.'

So to the Palins this young woman being murdered, or their son committing suicide, was preferable to bad publicity.

That is some seriously fucked up thinking right there.

Here was the bizarre rationalization that Sarah offered Jordan about Track's violent behavior:

Jordan said that she sat down for a heart-to-heart with the Palins a few weeks after Track attacked her.

'Sarah said to me: "Track has always had an outlet for his violence. He's played hockey his whole life and it's applauded when you get in fights with people and that's how he can take it out.

'"He would be on the ice and be aggressive and violent. People cheered him on for that.

'"When he was an adult and stopping playing hockey, he immediately joined the military and that was his outlet for violence. They were proud of him for that just like they were in hockey.

'"Since he's out of the military, he doesn't have that outlet anymore. So it's hard for him."'

Jordan added: 'I was hoping she had an idea for somewhere to take his violence but clearly it was just having him take it out on those around him.

'I remember her telling me, as if, 'This is the reason why you got hit but that's all I have for you.''

There is so much wrong there that I almost don't know where to start.

Look I was a very aggressive, and yes sometimes violent, teenager myself.

But my aggression was never directed at women, or those who were weaker than me.

My aggression diminished over time, and even more rapidly when I became a father. When I became a dad that just mellowed me right out.

There is NO excuse for Track at 28 years old to have remained so completely out of control.

And Jordan does not buy that PTSD excuse either:

Jordan said that he never completed the PTSD program and questioned whether Track's problems stemmed solely from the disorder.

'Track told me he was clinically diagnosed before leaving Iraq with PTSD and that is a serious issue,' she said.

'But there are other problems there. From what he has told me and what his family and friends have told me, this didn't come from the military. '

Track has had a history of violence from a young age. He got suspended for fighting in high school. This came from just deep-rooted mental health issues from childhood or adolescence that were never addressed or taken care of.

'His mom likes to say "PTSD, he came back different". He did - he came back a lot worse. But it exacerbates the problem, like alcohol does.

'I think part of the problem is that Track has never gotten in trouble for anything that he has done. He's attacked multiple people, he's pulled guns on multiple people and has never really gotten in trouble. I wasn't the first and I won't be the last.

'If he's gotten away with this much so far – what could happen to him? Not only that, if he goes to jail, his family is going to pay for a lawyer, bail him out and there's never really been consequences.

'All these people being quiet and trying to sweep this under the rug, whether it's his family or friends, that's the problem.'

Bingo!

And haven't WE been saying that exact thing for years now?

Track may have some rage issues that are part of his psychological make up, but those can be addressed and controlled through therapeutic interventions and medications.

I work with this population, I know.

But rather than get him the help he has needed since adolescence his parents simply swept the problems under the rug, and then used their money and influence to cover for him.

That tactic has helped to destroy Track's relationships, led to the abuse of family members, and almost got both Jordan and Todd killed.

Awesome job there Sarah.

If only you had listened to the IM community all of this could have been avoided.

Alabama man thinks somebody is stealing his truck, shoots and kills his own son.

Logan Trammell
Courtesy of WIAT:

Family and friends of 22 year old Logan Trammell are gathering to remember the young musician after a shooting took his life on Christmas Eve.

Trammell’s family says he was driving away from his parents home around 11:30 p.m. on December 24th in one of his father’s vehicles. His father was unaware that his son was borrowing his truck. Fearing the vehicle was being stolen, the family says he yelled out, firing a warning shot in the air in an attempt to get the driver’s attention, and then shot once at the tailgate to stop whomever was taking the truck. Once the vehicle stopped, they say his father realized he had accidentally shot his own son.

“It was just a horrific accident. A horrific accident. My brother thought someone was stealing his truck, never realized it was Logan because he didn’t live down here all the time, he lived with my mom and dad,” Logan’s aunt Tammy Jacobs explained. And he was supposed to be in the bed.”

No. No this was NOT an accident.

This man purposefully took out a firearm and shot at a moving vehicle.

That is a conscious use of deadly force.

People need to stop thinking that guns solve problems, or offer protection,

They don't. They only offer death.

And they endanger everybody around you.

It drives me crazy when people try to convince us that John Kasich is a "better" Republican.

Hah! Fooled you.
Courtesy of CNN:

Ohio is prohibiting doctors from performing abortions in cases where tests reveal the fetus has or likely has Down syndrome.

Republican Gov. John Kasich signed the legislation Friday and the law goes into effect in 90 days. "The governor is pro-life and supports policies that protect the sanctity of life," press secretary Jon Keeling tells CNN.

The law prohibits abortions after prenatal tests reveal Down syndrome in a fetus or if there's "any other reason to believe" the fetus has the genetic condition.

A person performing an abortion in such a case could face a fourth-degree felony charge, and physicians could lose their licenses. The woman seeking the abortion would not be held accountable, according to the legislation.

Sure Kasich may seem relatively reasonable when compared to the Donald Trump's of this world but he is still a Republican willing to tell women what they can do with their own bodies and condemning them to raising a child they may be ill equipped emotionally or financially to parent.

Taking care of a child with Down Syndrome, or any other challenging diagnosis, can bankrupt families, destroy marriages, and negatively impact the other children in the home.

This is simply NOT a decision that anybody other than the mother and father of the child should be involved in making.

The fact that John Kasich does not respect that is why nobody should respect his criticisms of the Republican party or Donald Trump.

Neo-Nazi teenager kills his former girlfriend's parents when they convince her to stop seeing him for fear he was attempting to indoctrinate her.

Scott and Buckley Kuhn-Fricker
Courtesy of WaPo:

Buckley Kuhn-Fricker was so disturbed by what she discovered about her teenage daughter’s boyfriend that she spent a tumultuous week pushing for a breakup. By Thursday, she texted a friend saying the “outspoken Neo Nazi” was out of their lives.

But just hours later, the family said that the 17-year-old boyfriend had shot and killed Kuhn-Fricker, 43, and her husband, Scott, 48, in their Reston, Va., home. It happened around 5 a.m. Friday, while the couple’s children and relatives were inside. They had gathered to celebrate the Christmas holiday.

The teen, who shot himself and is in critical condition at a hospital, was charged with two counts of murder Saturday after police spent Friday investigating at the large, single-family home decorated with Christmas wreaths and snowflakes. The Washington Post generally does not name juveniles charged with crimes unless they are charged as adults. The family of the teen, who is from Lorton, declined to comment.

Fairfax County police would not offer a motive for the double slaying, but family members and friends tied it directly to the couple’s struggle to keep hate out of their home, as one friend put it. They agreed to talk about the efforts because they said it was important to expose what happened.

According to the article the girl's mother found white supremacist tweets on her daughter's phone that she believed came from the boyfriend, that combined with things her daughter had said led her to believe that the young man was trying to convert her to his way of thinking, so she contacted their private school to let them know what was going on as well.

She also contacted the young man's parents.

The police told the grandmother that the parents caught the young man in their daughter's bedroom early Friday morning, and after telling him to get out he shot and killed them both, before turning the gun on himself.

This is a terrible tragedy, and sadly we may see more like it now that Donald Trump has empowered these Neo-Nazis and Whites Supremacists, and inspired them to openly talk about their beliefs and attempt to recruit others.

Apparently her engagement did not prove a big enough of a distraction so Willow Palin takes to social media to defend her out of control brother.

Courtesy of the Daily Mail:

The 23-year-old hairdresser took to social media and blasted her brother's critics on Friday, saying: ' I swear the second people decide to post a rude comment about someone else's family ... all of the sudden they come from a family full of frickin saints who have done no wrong.'

She also took aim at one woman in particular who wrote: 'Well at least her brother didn't kick the s*** out of the fiance. By the way is Willow knocked up yet? You know, like following in her sister's footsteps.'

Willow responded by mocking the woman, saying: 'Still wanting to be young and hip trying to keep up with her daughter. Twice divorced. Spends majority of her time trolling Instagram. Takes enjoyment out of her sad life to make unnecessary comments that doesn't get her anywhere.'

She also commented: 'Bout to lose my shiete and call all these cowards out.'

It appears that Willow is having some trouble spelling "shit."

Here let me help.

It's P-A-L-I-N.

Well, at least that's how Alaskans spell it now.

First let me just say that I was perfectly willing to leave Willow out of all of this.

As I have said a number of times in the past, she is my favorite Palin.

However.....I guess she wants to be involved, so now she is involved.

For one thing the idea that she is calling somebody else out for trying to be young and hip, when her mother dresses like this...

...is laugh out loud funny.

Secondly Willow needs to remember that the only reason that anybody gives two shits about any of this is because he mother trotted the whole family out on that 2008 RNC stage and tried to pass them off as the All American, Norman Rockwell, Frontier Family.

If she had not attempted to thrust her dysfunctional, inbred family onto the American people like that then all of this would only concern the immediate family, and the people of Wasilla standing behind their doors with the rifle barrels placed against the peephole waiting for Track Palin to come for one of them.

Thirdly I understand that Willow might be a little upset that she was forced to prematurely announce her engagement to Jethro Bodine's dumber cousin, but she should not take it out on the folks making comments on social media.

She should take it out on her parents.

After all, aren't they really the source for all of these problems?

And now a word from Alabama.

Well at least now we know why Alabama is not horrified about Roy Moore.

And why I will never visit Alabama.

Texas man killed by shot to the head while teaching son gun safety. Well that there's an "F" boy.

Courtesy of News4 San Antonio:

The Comal County Sheriff's Office says the 53-year-old man was teaching his son how to shoot on a more than 10 acre private property in Bulverde when it happened.

Deputies say it was an accident. Many in the community are saddened by the news, but local gun expert Jaime Correa says it's not unusual for kids to learn how to handle a gun at such an early age.

Nope it is never too young to teach them young'uns about shooting people in the head.

After all isn't that how people in Texas win arguments? (And Alaska to be honest.)

When that article was written the father was still clinging to life, but he didn't cling for long.

Red states preach family values, but blue states are better at putting that into practice.

Courtesy of the New York Times:

According to the Youth Risk Behavior Survey of 32 states, those with the highest percentage of high school students who say they have had sex are Mississippi, Delaware, West Virginia, Alabama and Arkansas. All but Delaware voted Republican in the last presidential election.

Meanwhile, the five states with the lowest proportion of high school students who have had sex were New York, California, Maryland, Nebraska and Connecticut. All but Nebraska voted Democratic.

When evangelical kids have sex, they’re less likely to use birth control — and that may be a reason (along with lower abortion rates) that red states have high teen birthrates.

Nine of the 10 states with the highest teen birthrates voted Republican in 2016. And nine of the 10 states with the lowest teen birthrates voted Democratic.

“Red regions of the country have higher teen pregnancy rates, more shotgun marriages and lower average ages at marriage and first birth,” Naomi Cahn and June Carbone wrote in their important 2010 book, “Red Families v. Blue Families.”

The liberal impulse may be to gloat: Those conservatives thunder about “family values” but don’t practice them. But there’s also perhaps a measure of hypocrisy in the blue states. As Cahn and Carbone put it: “Blue family values bristle at restrictions on sexuality, insistence on marriage or the stigmatization of single parents. Their secret, however, is that they encourage their children to simultaneously combine public tolerance with private discipline, and their children then overwhelmingly choose to raise their own children within two-parent families.

”Liberals, in other words, may be wary of strict moral codes, but they want to make damn sure that their own kids don’t have babies while in high school. It helps that they believe in comprehensive sex education and reliable birth control.

If this surprises anybody then you simply have not been paying attention.

These same conclusions have been reached by a variety of studies over the years.

Preaching at kids that sex is wrong and that they should never partake of the forbidden fruit, did not work in the Garden of Eden and it does not work in modern times.

And demonstrating the family values of love, respect for others, and personal responsibility, is far more effective than calling somebody a sinner for engaging in normal human interactions.

Progressive states are just better, that is why I am working to turn mine into one.

Indiana man fatally shoots nine year old daughter while teaching about gun safety.

Courtesy of Time:

An Indiana man has been charged for fatally shooting his 9-year-old daughter in the head while teaching his two sons about gun safety.

On June 10, Eric Hummel, 33, from Hobart, Indiana, was telling his sons about the dangers of playing with guns when his daughter Olivia walked into the room, People, citing court documents, reports. Unaware that the gun was loaded, he said he pointed it toward her and fired.

Hummel has since been charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death, battery resulting in death to a person less than 14 years old, reckless homicide, and, in addition, two counts of neglect of a dependent, People reports. Hummel, who has entered a not guilty plea, faces 20 to 40 years on the neglect of a dependent resulting in death charge, which is a Level 1 felony, according to People.

"She’s dead, she’s dead. I thought it was empty, you can kill," Hummel told the police officer who arrived on the scene, according to a police report obtained by People.

"I was showing the boys the gun and told them not to ever play with it because it can kill someone, then she walked in in the room and I pointed it at her and pulled the trigger, thinking it was empty," he continued, according to People.

Now see, this guy is simply too stupid to have ever been allowed to own a gun.

Anybody who would point a gun at ANYBODY, much less a child, and pull the trigger does not know the first thing about gun safety.

Despite the pain this man feels at the loss of his little girl, he absolutely deserves to be convicted of every one of the charges against him.

And perhaps even more.

The Father's Day tweet that I think we all deserve to read today.

Here was Obama's response.
I don't know about all of you but there are times when I feel numb after reading and writing about Donald Trump, his presidency, and the various investigations being conducted around them both.

And it is at times like these that I think back to a simpler time, when a man we could all admire was the leader of this country.

It just gives me hope, that if we were smart enough to elect someone like him twice, that we will be that smart yet again, hopefully the very next time we get the opportunity.

Happy Father's Day Mr. Obama.

And thank you.

"Prophet" convinces former Amish couple to let him sexually abuse their underage daughters, claiming it was "the will of God."

Mr. Stoltzfus, Mrs. Stoltzfus, and the man to whom they sacrificed their children's innocence.
Courtesy of The Independent:

A paedophile brainwashed a former Amish couple into regarding him as a prophet and ‘gifting’ him their six young daughters as child wives, a court heard.

Lee Kaplan, 52, convinced Savilla and Daniel Stoltzfus that his relationships with their six daughters were the will of God, who contacted him in his dreams, the court was told.

The first daughter to be “gifted” to Kaplan, it was claimed, was given as a future wife when she was nine years old.

Her older sister testified that she too was molested by Kaplan, the abuse allegedly starting when she was ten and leading to her becoming pregnant by him aged 14 in 2013.

Ms Stoltzfus, 43, also went to live with the accused, Bucks County Court in Pennsylvania heard, and allegedly ended up complaining to her husband that Kaplan had stopped having sex with her, preferring intercourse with her daughters.

This went on for five long years, with the children being homeschooled, and kept in a house with the windows covered far from the prying eyes of adults who would certainly have reported the abuse to the authorities.

This is the kind of thing that seems impossible for most of us to comprehend.

After all keeping our children safe from harm is one of the primary motivators for parents of all species.

However that is the power of religion. It can make you do things that would seem unthinkable when not subjected to its mind numbing effects.

20 year old woman wants parents prosecuted for treating the hole in her heart at birth with faith instead of getting her the medical help that she needed.

Courtesy of The Friendly Atheist:

Mariah Walton, a 20-year-old woman awaiting a heart and lung transplant, said she thinks her parents and other faith healers should face criminal charges for “treating” her with prayer instead of medicine.

It’s a tale as old as time: girl is born with a small hole in her heart, her parents refuse to get it fixed and instead ask God to oversee her well-being, girl is now permanently disabled due to years of being refused care. The twist, however, is that Walton — unlike many faith healing victims — lived on to call for her parents’ prosecution and to condemn the practice in general.

“It would have been solved. If I had a surgery when I was one year old, I would have been just fine,” Walton said in an interview with KTVB News. She said she can’t run, misses a lot of school, and gets sick easily because of her weakened immune system.

Instead of getting her the simple medical procedure that she needed Mariah's parents subjected her to "alternative medicines" and faith healing which allowed her condition to worsen until it was life threatening.

Oddly enough her parents did not "trust" modern medicine, but had no problem trusting that God existed and would heal their child if only they had enough faith.

Fortunate this young woman survived, and now those same parents can pray that they do not end up in jail for condemning their daughter to a lifetime of unnecessary suffering.

So do all Trump supporters secretly want to bang their daughters? Because that might explain some things.

So that was posted by Michael Cohen, Donald Trump's lawyer.

I assume I do not have to point out just how creepy that is.

However some on Cohen's Twitter feed took it upon themselves to do just that.
This put Cohen on the defensive, and he tweeted a response.
Okay well I just threw up in my mouth a little.

There were a couple more exchanges with Cohen becoming increasingly angry and defensive.

Of course the immediate thing that jumps to mind is Donald Trump's ultra creepy relationship with his own daughter.

But I also thought about those bizarre purity balls where conservative Christian dads dress up their daughters in slinky gowns and parade them around in front of other dads, as if to say "Look how fuckable MY daughter is."

Now if you will excuse me, I have to shower. Until the hot water runs out completely.

Watch out Donald Trump, there's a new Hitler in town. No, literally.

Courtesy of New Jersey.com:

A former New Jersey man who gained notoriety for his Nazi allegiances and custody battle over his kids is now officially named Hitler as of Monday, according to mycentraljersey.com.

Born Isidore Heath Campbell, the Shippensburg, Pa. resident his request to change his name to Isidore Heath Hitler was approved in March by a judge and took effect on Monday.

Campbell once tried to have a supermarket inscribe "Happy Birthday Adolf Hitler" on a birthday cake for his son. He would later lose parental rights to his nine children.

Campbell was sentenced to 180 days in jail and two years of probation last year as part of a plea deal he made on charges of resisting arrest and obstructing justice, it was previously reported.

"Isidore?" If this guy was going to change any part of his name, why wouldn't he change that part?

Well you have to admit that his timing is on point.

After all if you are going to live in a newly fascist country you might as well look and sound the part.

Reverend Sarah Palin warns parents to "arm" their children with a Christian worldview. You first.

Sarah Palin flaunting her Christian values.
Courtesy of Sarah Palin's Holy Mother of Hypocrisy:

Sing for joy to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob! Begin the music, strike the timbrel, play the melodious harp and lyre. Psalm 81:1-2

Let these two quotations wash over you:

“I am the art in your arthouses, the ideas in your institutions, the laws in your land, the message in your movies, the thoughts of your teachers, the values your kids value. I affect you. Do you affect me? – Culture

And also this one, from the fifth-century BC Greek musician Damon of Athens:

Give me the songs of a nation, and it matters not who writes its laws.

I wish more of us especially our politicians – realized that ideas have consequences in the real world. When we embrace certain ideals in our movies and songs (sex without restraint, for example, which happened during the “free love” 1970s), it affects our culture in ways that rules and regulations can’t undo. (You mean like having several grandchildren born out of wedlock? That kind of "affect?")

Today, don’t let movies, songs, and the arts be dominated by liberals. Instead, arm your Christian children and grandkids with a solid worldview and encourage them to enter these areas boldly and with excellence.

Palin then attempts to hawk her own never selling book as, I suppose, an example of the kind of Christian worldview that she believes children should wield against a culture which may inflict those damn liberal facts upon their tiny little brains.

Methinks in this case Palin doth protest too much.

After all her own children's alcoholism, infidelity, and hooliganism could hardly be blamed on a culture that they were supposedly restricted from sampling.

However it could be that they learned those behaviors from that so-called "Christian" upbringing inflicted on them by their parents, which featured knock down drag out fights, multiple affairs, worship of the all mighty dollar, and of course heaps of hypocrisy.

On the other hand I know dozens of well adjusted adults who were allowed to enjoy the liberal culture as children who are NOT philanderers, drug addicts, or wife beaters.

I'm just saying.

Jordan Loewe's father exposes the truth about Sarah Palin's violent out of control son.

Courtesy of Radar Online:

Sarah Palin has turned her back on her boozing and brawling son Track — even as he wages a vicious custody war with his baby mama over his infant son, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal.

In fact, the 27-year-old terror’s violent temper has alienated everyone around him!

“He’s hot-headed, he’s out of control and he has anger issues!” Matthew Loewe, the distraught father of Track’s baby mama, Jordan Loewe, told Radar.

“He’s thrown stuff at Jordan, thrown rocks at Jordan — he’s even thrown stuff at her when she was holding their baby!”

And despite being ordered to undergo a therapeutic program, Matthew says his behavior has done anything but improve since then.

“From time that this all started and the cops getting involved, I have yet to hear that [Track] is doing any therapy or anything. (From what I heard Track NEVER went to any kind of therapy.)

If anything, Matthew said that Track’s gotten worse — even threatening his own parents when they tried to control his rage-fueled outbursts!

“Track hates [his father] Todd,” according to Jordan’s dad. “Jordan and Track had an argument one night that it got so out of control she called… and they both came over.

“He threatened to beat up his dad, saying, ‘Come on old man, you’re full of metal now.'” (So, NO snowmachine accident?)

Matthew also revealed that the former governor and her husband have washed their hands of their troubled son — and even warned their daughter to get away from him.

“Before Jordan got pregnant, Todd told her, ‘I’d run if I were you,” Matthew revealed.

Jordan's father also claims that Todd and Sarah are estranged from Track and have cut ties with him, which I would interpret to mean that Track is no longer being cared for financially.

However this seems to be after Palin paid Track's legal fees and kept him from going to jail and receiving the kind of help that he desperately needs.

Instead she pulled strings to allow him to escape justice yet again, and now she and her family live in fear of what he might do next.

In some ways that seems like a kind of karma, but it is really too bad that others like Jordan and Britta Hanson have suffered due to their poor parenting.

Well it certainly appears that Mr. Loewe is not going to let a silly thing like a confidentially agreement keep him from telling the truth about that family of Wasillabillies.

Son of homeschooling mom sees first male Covergirl model on TV, homeschooling mom kind of loses it.

Courtesy of Homeschool Base:

Mommy, why doesn’t daddy wear makeup? This is the question my 6-year-old asked me on Friday afternoon. We were watching Countdown to Christmas on ABC, and a commercial came up in between watching Toy Story.

The first image is of a boy in a backwards hat with ink and black makeup. He narrates the commercial, but doesn’t reappear until the end. In the last few scenes, he is arching his back and holding his thighs next to six or so other girls. His appears to be the most feminine of all the poses. The tagline read, “Equal is beautiful.” The final image was branded with #LashEquality.

My son watched this commercial while I wasn’t paying any attention. Because it was just a CoverGirl commercial, I didn’t think I would need to cover the screen. I was pre-occupied, speaking with David (my husband).

Both of us were caught off guard, we didn’t know how to answer. I don’t know why, but the most logical thing we could think of at that moment was to say, “No, that’s a girl.”

The commercial comes on a second time. It is undeniable, it’s a guy.

So what is a backward thinking, over protective parent to do when the Satanic world they are attempting to protect their little snowflake from comes bursting into their lives adorned in eye makeup?

Well misrepresent that world of course.

“Daddy doesn’t wear makeup because makeup is for girls.”

This of course is a ridiculous thing to say as her son JUST saw somebody who was NOT a girl on TV wearing makeup.

The mother then compounds her ignorance by responding with this; “That is how his parents chose to raise him...”

That of course is also ridiculous as parents cannot actually "choose" who their children will be. Nor should they try.

All we can do is love and support our children, and help them to make choices which empower them and allow them to be the best they can possibly be as adults.

And we cannot choose their sexuality, which seems to be the suggestion made by this mother, and her deepest fear.

In the end this sad creature decides that she will simply change her brand of makeup, and then makes this rather pathetic observation:

"Our world is headed in a direction where my 6-year-old son is having to grow up so much faster than I want him to."

Now remember her world was undone by a GUY WEARING MAKEUP.

I mean this is not a video of somebody brutally killing another person on screen, or her son overhearing inappropriate language from an R rated movie, or the death of a beloved pet.

This is just some young guy wearing makeup.

Do you know how you handle that?

You say, "Well he must like to wear makeup, and that's his choice." and you move the hell on.

The fact that this woman sees this as some kind of existential crisis seems to indicate that perhaps SHE needs to start getting out of the house more herself.

Geez!

Conan's late night sidekick tells his Planned Parenthood story. Oh yes, he has one.

Courtesy of the Hollywood Reporter:

It’s not easy for anyone to share an abortion story, but Andy Richter did just that on Sept. 10. Host of the second Sexy Beast, the art-themed fundraiser for Planned Parenthood L.A. (PPLA) held at The Theater at Ace Hotel, Richter took attendees at the event back to the early 1990s, when he and his then-girlfriend (and now-wife), comedian Sarah Thyre, were starring in Jill Soloway’s stage production of The Brady Bunch.

“I’d like to share a story,” he began. “In 1992, my girlfriend and I were having a rough time. We’d been performing in a show together for a couple of years, but it had come to an end, and we found ourselves living apart. She was in New York City working three jobs; I was in Chicago jobless and sleeping on my mother’s couch. The strain of living apart, and the stress of being two young people attempting to make a living as performers and writers was really taking a toll on its relationship. So when she called me to tell me that she was pregnant, it was not exactly happy news."

"Luckily for us Planned Parenthood existed," Richter continued. "My girlfriend knew that she was not ready for motherhood, and I knew that I was in no way prepared to be a father. I drove from Chicago in my battered old Toyota pick-up to be with her when she went to Planned Parenthood to terminate her pregnancy. Her choice to get an abortion was a choice that she made with assuredness. She knew that she was doing the right thing for everyone involved. But I can’t say it was easy. She was sad, and I was sad, and it was sad. But to this day, I know that she will tell you that she made the right decision."

Richter's story took another sad turn before a very happy conclusion. "Soon after I returned to Chicago, the strain of our long-distance relationship became too much for us, and Sarah and I broke up," he said. "But then, what seems like five minutes after that, we realized that breaking up was the stupidest thing we’d ever done. So we got back together, and we got engaged, and we got married, and we had a couple kids, and a parrot and two dogs. And so far, we’ve been married for 22 wonderful years. Planned Parenthood gave two young struggling people the ability to do the thing that is in their name: We got to plan parenthood. When we could barely care for ourselves, much less a newborn, we were able to choose the time when we brought a child into our lives. Planned Parenthood allowed my wife to make the decisions she needed to make in order to control her body and her health, and maintain her life and her future. And for that, I will be eternally grateful.”

I thought this was a very poignant story, and made even more so by the fact that it was told by a male concerning how the decision to terminate an unwanted pregnancy positively affected his life.

We actually need to hear more stories from the male perspective because often these decisions are as difficult and terrifying for them as they are for the women.

And ending a pregnancy when you are not yet ready to care for a child, certainly does NOT mean that you will not go on to have a wonderful family, a wonderful marriage, and to be a wonderful mother or father.

I have known more than one couple who terminated an early pregnancy only to go on to have a house full of kids after they finished school and were financially and emotionally ready to be parents.
