With Colbert gone, and Stewart with one foot out of the door, John Oliver has now risen to the top of my list of not to be missed political satirists.

Sarah Palin and her hoohah REALLY want you to watch the premiere of the second season of her crappy reality show tonight.
Airing out the hoohah before filming starts. |
I promise you’ll feel great experiencing the inspiration that true American heroes provide! We’re privileged to showcase them on season two of “Amazing America” – it kicks off this Thursday, Jan. 15th on Sportsman Channel!
Seriously the only way this show could make me "feel great" is if it featured Palin being trampled to death by a herd of rednecks running to collect their welfare checks.
You’ll meet all kinds of intriguing, entertaining, amazing Americans starting Thursday night on Sportsman Channel. Let me know what you think about this choice we present you for positive, family friendly programming that refreshingly brings good news into your home!
Did you hear that folks? She wants to hear what you think of " this choice we present you for positive, family friendly programming that refreshingly brings good news into your home." Whatever in the hell THAT means.
So if you DO happen to watch it then make sure to head on over to her public Facebook page and give her your honest, personally requested by Palin herself, opinion.
Then sit back and wait to see how long it lasts before it is removed.
Palin also has another Amazing America promo out which leaves little doubt as to what she believes is the reason that people will tune in to see her tonight. (Here's a hint, it's not her intellect.)
So Palin's message to our female youth is clear. If you want to get ahead you need to tramp yourself up and get a man to take you where you want to go.
Such a wholesome role model, don't you think?

New promo for Amazing America featuring Sarah Palin. I understand that every episode now features one of her family members standing on a helpless animal.
"You're the bad ass American guy?" Ted Nugent?
I think she means poopy ass American guy.
Thankfully I will be unable to watch and offer my views on the show again this year because apparently my cable company is rewarding me for the piles of money I send them each month and excluding it from my cable package.
Of course the question is not IF this show will suck again this season, but rather HOW HARD this show will suck this season?

Fox News ratings plummet as Dish Network blackout continues.
Courtesy of International Business Times:
The nasty carriage dispute that has left about 14 million satellite-TV subscribers without Fox News Channel is rearing its ugly head in the worst of places. The cable news network, typically a ratings powerhouse, saw a significant dip in viewership last week as its parent company, 21st Century Fox Inc., squabbled with Dish Network Corp. over programming fees.
For the week ended Dec. 28, the first full week since the blackout began, Fox News averaged 939,000 prime-time viewers. That’s down from 1.65 million viewers the previous week and 1.68 million the week before that, according to data from Nielsen Media.
Viewership for news programming is often unpredictable from week to week, and Christmas week tends to be a slow news period. But Fox’s prime-time ratings are down almost 12 percent when compared to the same week last year, when it averaged 1.06 million viewers. That makes sense: Dish Network has a market share of about 13.4 percent of the pay-TV industry.
Fox News viewership is also down in the key 25-54 demo, though not as drastically. The network averaged 160,000 weekly viewers in the demo, compared to 175,000 for the same week last year.
Gee it looks like somebody better come to the negotiation table with hat in hand, and possibly on bended knee.
Though I have to admit I would REALLY like it if Dish just kept them off indefinitely.
Perhaps if that happened other cable outlets would follow suit.

Sarah Palin responds to e-mail interview with incoherent babble, which somehow convinces people she wants a job on The View.
So apparently the Sportsman Channel is thrilled that Palin helped the channel nobody can find to attract six more viewers, so they are renewing "Amazing America" for a second season. (I wonder if this next season will see Palin actually do something out in that amazing America, and not just in front of a green screen?)
So to celebrate Palin agreed to an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.
Not a face to face interview where she might say something stupid mind you, but an e-mail interview where she can have her answers edited for her by one of her SarahPAC paid writers, in the hopes that she will seem slightly less like a dipshit.
"Slightly less" being the key phrase here.
First the Hollywood Reporter asks her which episode was her favorite and of course she answers the one with the military hero, because you know mom of a combat veteran and all that crap.
Then HR asks her about plans for next season.
Her reply:
We're really excited about the second season of Amazing America! We’re working on stories about people that go above and beyond to help others, really inspirational stuff that will encourage the entire nation. We’ve also got some amazing craftsmen lined up as well. I love showcasing skill and work ethic that deserves to be rewarded. It’s going to be a great season, families will love it together. I guarantee it!
In other words it is going to suck just like this season .
HR then asks which shows she watches with her family, and she of course answers Amazing America because she is really never home to watch TV with her family, and this is a better option than admitting that fact.
HR then asks her if there are any other shows that she would like to do.
Her answer:
Maybe. But the politics would have to be interspersed with a whole lot of fun and real life and inspiration showcasing American work ethic, because those topics are all pretty much the antithesis of today's politics, which I find incorrigibly disastrous! It'd be so much fun to shake it up taking on issues that make audiences objectively consider all sides, and I'd do it with my own real-life groundedness, candor and commonsense that I'm known for. (Hah!) Media needs that today, versus the condescension that oozes from TV and radio. I hear everyone recently got canned from The View, maybe a show like that needs a punch of reality and a voice of reason from America's heartland to knock some humble sense into their scripts. You know, someone willing to go rogue.
"Incorrigibly disastrous?"
"Condescension that oozes?"
"Knock some humble sense into their scripts?"
Who talks like that?
Anyhow this completely nonsensical bowl of tossed word salad piqued the interest of HuffPo who teased the idea that she might be serious about joining the cast of the View, before deciding later that she was probably full of shit.
However it was Palin's final response to a question from HR that really demonstrates why Palin can never actually have a real on air hosting job for a reputable network.
HR asks her whether she has read Hillary's book "hard Choices."
Her answer (Which I bet most of you can predict.):
So far just the passage about me because an attorney sent the passage to me. (Of course.) Hillary wrote about the 2008 campaign when the Obama camp asked her to basically engage in their familiar "politics of personal destruction" just hours after I was announced as the GOP's first female VP candidate. They couldn't attack my record as an executive, a Mayor, a Governor, an energy resources commissioner, nor a wife and mother, (Actually they could have attacked her on all of this. And in fact I believe that I and others did just that.) so ratcheting it all down she surmised the attacks would be based on gender! How passé. (Oooh, is that French?) How mighty hypocritical. Hillary refused to engage. I appreciated her boldness in explaining that behind-the-scenes campaign tactic of Obama's. (Now here is where the word salad gets deep and covered in a rich dressing of batshit crazy.) I've since pointed out there's no "war on women" if one doesn't react to that immature shot across the bow from the Liberal Left like America saw during that entire campaign. Don't retreat from such a shot. Just reload like I've been blessed to have the opportunity to do. And hey, I'm still standing! So flipping proud to be an American where I know first hand that anything is possible if you work hard, put your life in God's hands, serve something greater than self, and live life vibrantly!
Damn! Even if you wanted to write a parody response for Palin you could not do a better job than that!
No Sarah Palin is NOT going to be offered, or accept, a job on The View. (Could you imagine what Whoopi would do to her?)
However it does appear that she is actually going to return to cable televisions in her barely watched capacity as the green screen host for a show that features the hillbilly version of that 1980's classic "Real People."
And you thought cable TV could not get any worse.

84 year old man shoots and kills his son over cable dispute. Plans to continue the argument in the afterlife.
Courtesy of the Star Tribune:
An 84-year-old Maplewood man fatally shot his son over a dispute about installing cable in the family home, according to charges filed Thursday.
Pang Se Vang, 84, was charged in Ramsey County District Court with second-degree murder in the death of his son, Chue Vang, 36.
Maplewood police responded to the family home in the 1800 block of County Road B East about 11:51 a.m. Monday, where they found Chue Vang dead in a hallway and Pang Vang bleeding from self-inflicted knife wounds to the chest and neck.
According to the complaint: Pang Vang called his pastor that morning and said he was upset that Chue Vang would not pay to install cable in the home. Chue Vang owned the home and lived with his parents and siblings. Father and son had argued, and Chue Vang told his father he could move out, the pastor told authorities.
Pang Vang’s wife said their son asked his dad to talk to his sons about any problems.
“I’m not talking with you kids,” Pang Vang said before closing himself off in his bedroom.
Chue Vang opened the bedroom door, said, “Dad!” and was shot once by his father, charges said.
Another son wrestled a rifle away from their father and family members fled the home.
“If you are not afraid of dying then come in and bother me,” Pang Vang told his wife when she confronted him in their bedroom. “If you are afraid of dying, then you better run away.”
Damn, this guy really holds grudge. Still I am sure that he must feel terrible about killing his son over something so trivial. Or not:
Pang Vang eventually surrendered to police after telling them he would settle the dispute with his deceased son in the afterlife.
So apparently being very religious, does NOT make you a more moral person? Gee who would have thunk it?
Well it's a good thing the old man had a rifle to protect him from losing an argument with his son.
You know the only thing that stops a bad son from not installing cable and offering to pay for it, is a good father with a bad attitude and a loaded rifle.
Of course the next stage of this conflict may be a little tougher on the old man, because I am not sure that they allow guns in heaven.
What am I saying? There is NO way that so many conservatives would be working so hard to get there if they didn't!

Duck Dynasty ratings continue to plummet in the new season. What happened to all them REAL Americans?
Courtesy of Mediaite:
It looks like Duck Dynasty’s relatively low premiere ratings following the Phil Robertson controversy that swept the nation at the end of last year were not a fluke. In the second episode of the show’s fifth season, the show’s ratings dropped even further to 6.6 million total viewers, the lowest the show has seen since December 2012.
There were high expectations for season premiere on January 15th after the weeks of free publicity the show received due to Robertson’s comments about homosexuality and the subsequent, short-lived “suspension” he was given by A&E. But the notion that an even larger Christian conservative audience would flock to the show in support of Robertson was dispelled after the first episode of the season on Wednesday, January 15th drew 8.5 million viewers, a 28% drop from the fourth season premiere last August, which had 11.8 million. It was more on par with the third season premiere in February 2013, which had 8.6 million.
This week’s episode, with 6.6 million viewers, marked another large drop from the second episode of the fourth season, which had 8.5 million viewers. In the 18-49 demographic that is particularly attractive the advertisers, the show also saw a decline. While last season’s premiere had a 5.0 rating, this week’s episode was just 2.9. That put it below network competition like American Idol (4.5) and Modern Family (3.4).
You know if I were a religious man I might just think that God had turned his back on this gang of hillbilly hoaxers and left them high and dry.
But of course I'm not so I think what it is being demonstrated here is that the country is evolving, and that the fundamentalist dinosaurs of the past are starting to die out.
Or, you know, it could just be that old Palin curse kicking in again.

Ted Nugent refers to the President as a "subhuman mongrel" while promoting his hunting show.
Courtesy of Media Matters:
Nugent made the comment during a January 17 interview with Guns.com at the 2014 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show), an annual gun industry trade show that draws 60,000 firearms industry professionals. Nugent was representing the Outdoor Channel, which airs his hunting show Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild. Nugent and Outdoor Channel recently announced a multi-year endorsement deal where Nugent will make "talent appearances on the network's behalf at top consumer and industry trade events."
In announcing the deal, Outdoor Channel's CEO said that Nugent "symbolizes everything that is right in our industry."
In addition to describing "Barack Hussein Obama" as a "gangster," Nugent said the president and other liberals should be jailed and face "the just due punishment that their treasonous acts are clearly apparent":
NUGENT: I have obviously failed to galvanize and prod, if not shame enough Americans to be ever vigilant not to let a Chicago communist raised communist educated communist nurtured subhuman mongrel like the ACORN community organizer gangster Barack Hussein Obama to weasel his way into the top office of authority in the United States of America. I am heartbroken but I am not giving up. I think America will be America again when Barack Obama, [Attorney General] Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton, [Sen.] Dick Durbin, [former New York City Mayor] Michael Bloomberg and all of the liberal Democrats are in jail facing the just due punishment that their treasonous acts are clearly apparent.
So a lot of people would call that inflammatory speech. Well I would call it inflammatory speech when it's your job to protect Americans and you look into the television camera and say what difference does it make that I failed in my job to provide security and we have four dead Americans. What difference does that make? Not to a chimpanzee or Hillary Clinton, I guess it doesn't matter.
Jesus what an incredible piece of garbage.
Well if this is what "symbolizes everything that is right in our industry," I think that is pretty much all I need to know about the gun industry.
I guess this explains some of Sarah Palin's most recent racist remarks on Facebook. Apparently THIS is what people who own guns and watch hunting shows expect from their TV hosts.

Remember that big ratings boom that everybody predicted Duck Dynasty would enjoy upon its return? Yeah, didn't happen.
Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly:
Maybe there is such a thing as bad publicity?
Though Duck Dynasty was expected by some to return to its biggest ratings yet after its huge controversy last month, the Louisiana-based reality show returned to lower viewership than its previous two premieres.
Wednesday night’s Duck Dynasty season 5 premiere had 8.5 million viewers. That’s huge for a cable reality show, but down 28 percent from its record-setting fourth season debut in August (11.8 million). It’s also slightly down from the show’s third season premiere in February last year (8.6 million). A&E notes the number up slightly from the fourth season finale on Oct. 23 (though obviously it’s standard to compare premieres to premieres).
Of course Dipshit Dynasty is still a ratings winner on cable, but this definitely proves that the number of people who think that the Bible gives you license to hate on the gays is a lot less than the Right Wing would have you believe.
Rather than enjoying a ratings boom after patriarch Phil Robertson compared to homosexuality to bestiality and said that all the black folks he knew before the 1964 Civil Rights Act were perfectly happy being treated like second class citizens, it looks instead like even people unsophisticated enough to watch a family pretend to be hillbillies while getting filthy rich off a whistle that tricks waterfowl into thinking their going to get laid, are starting to exercise their first amendment rights to watch better television. (Probably choosing to watch rerun of Will and Grace instead.)
And if Papa Phil carries through on his threat of taking the show over to a Christian channel to punish A&E he can expect much smaller numbers still.
Maybe there is such a thing as bad publicity?

My heart is broken.
Courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter:
The ACN News Night team is coming back for a third and final season.
HBO has officially renewed the Jeff Daniels drama for a final installment, which is expected to air this fall. The news comes nearly six months after HBO programming president Michael Lombardo noted publicly that he'd be "shocked" if the series didn't return. The holdup has been creator Aaron Sorkin, who needed to pen the Steve Jobs film script before turning his attention back to Newsroom.
While I am glad the show is coming back (I never really doubted that it would) I am devastated that this will be its final season.
I have been fairly unabashed in proclaiming my love for this brilliant program and had hoped to follow it for many years to come, reporting on important stories from the past and, in many cases, reporting them the way others in the REAL media failed to report them.
Some have criticized it for its portrayal of women, and its focus on clumsy romantic banter, but none of that bothered me a great deal.
Especially when it offered up scenes like this.
No having this amazing show go off the air for good is going to be a serious loss to political and news junkies. I doubt we will soon see anything to replace it.

The Sportsman Channel is making move to expand its brand, attract new advertisers, and using Sarah Palin to help facilitate that. Good luck with that.
After posting yesterday about Palin's rare press outing, and the aggressive pimping of her new soon to be cancelled show "Amazing America," I started to receive numerous links that suggest the Sportsman channel is really hoping to hit the big time using Palin to attract media attention.
First there is this from a PR Newswire story in May:
InterMedia Outdoors, Inc. (IMO), the industry leader and largest provider of Outdoors content, and parent company of The Sportsman Channel (TSC), today announced that it chose not to renew its programming agreements with The Outdoor Channel (TOC), in order to shift its highly-rated and award-winning television shows to The Sportsman Channel. IMO will also increase its commitment of resources to TSC, integrating new and upgraded programming and content from IMO's vast market-leading properties, which extend across print, television, radio and online mediums.
"We are going to build The Sportsman Channel into the leading outdoor network, both in distribution and ratings, and shifting all of our programming to TSC is a major first step in that direction. We have led in every Outdoors category we have entered-magazine, internet, and television production-and now we will lead in networks," says InterMedia Outdoors CEO Jeff Paro. "No other channel in the Outdoors category has ever had this kind of promotional strength behind it. We will actively and aggressively program TSC with hunting, shooting and fishing content, with a focus on high-quality original programming, production of our own shows, and partnerships with producers. TSC will be a better network for the consumer and a better value for the distributor."
So that was the plan about seven or eight months ago, and then this weekend those plans seem to have come to a head. A head with a giant ugly wig sitting on it.
Back in March they also decided to aggressively pursue more mainstream advertisers:
Effective Monday, the Sportsman Channel aims for advertisers beyond its roots — “hook and bullet advertisers” — to larger and more mainstream companies that covet the audience for shows like Steven Rinella’s “MeatEater” and Patrick Flanigan’s “Shell Shocked!”
And who have they been able to sign up with this new focus thus far? Well they hooked this big fish for one:
Cheaper than Dirt!, America’s Ultimate Shooting Sports Discounter, has signed three significant advertising deals with Sportsman Channel for 2014.
Cheaper than Dirt will be airing commercials spots on Sportsman through the following platforms: renowned series “Meet the McMillans,” the “Armed Citizen File” on NRANEWS Cam & Co., and a full-year of various advertising on the network throughout 2014.
Who Nelly! Now THAT'S impressive!
But did Palin bring anything new to the table?
Well possibly,
Courtesy of ABC News:
The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race will again have a presence on national television after race organizers signed a deal with the Sportsman Channel.
The agreement, announced Wednesday, makes the Sportsman Channel the official network of the nearly 1,000-mile race from Anchorage to Nome. The race, billed as the world's longest, hasn't had a network deal since 2009.
No definitive proof that Palin helped to broker this deal, but if not it would be an awfully big coincidence. And who is it again that does not believe in coincidences?
All I can say is that if the Sportsman channel thinks having Palin on board is the key to long term success they might have done themselves a favor by checking with John McCain and the Tea Party first.
Speaking of Palin she might want to watch herself as hosts of the Sportsman channels programs sometimes meet a violent end.
Stay low Sarah. What am I saying, there are very few people lower than Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin pimps her new show that nobody will bother to watch, and jokes about shooting Wolf Blitzer from a helicopter.
I think this might be the Grizzled Mama with Bristol, but don't hold me to that. |
Todd and I had a great time in Pasadena with Sportsman Channel working on "Amazing America with Sarah Palin" and dedicating the network to "Red, Wild & Blue America!" The show premieres in April. I can't wait to show you the inspiring people, places, and things that make this country truly amazing! As I told members of the Television Critics Association yesterday, I'm especially encouraged to have opportunities to empower young women to get outdoors, be self-sufficient, and work extremely hard so they can live life vibrantly. (There's that "live vibrantly" phrase again. I swear she never retires these stupid catchphrases no matter how tired and overused they become. Which is why years from now we will still hear her talking about fundamentally restoring the country, cooking moose chili, and the lamestream media until we want to beat our heads against the wall.) See, I'm convinced the world will be a better place when we have more girls holding fish in pictures and fewer holding selfie cameras in front of the bathroom mirror.
In response to that last remark Palin posted this picture of Piper supposedly playfully mocking her "girls holding fish" comment.
Yeah no reason to think that's a setup or anything.
In that same post Palin, or her ghostwriter, also attempted to make a rather ugly joke at the expense of CNN's Wolf Blitzer.
Thank you to everyone who attended the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour breakfast yesterday. And, no, friends, upon spotting CNN's Wolf Blitzer at a TCA event, no one was tempted to re-engage any Department of Fish and Game Predator Control Program to scamper away troublesome wolves! I had a nice chat with him instead. (Plus, I adore his mother.)
Obviously this is a reference to the controversial Alaska predator control program we have up here, which essentially means that she is making a joke about shooting Blitzer from a helicopter like his lupine namesakes.
Of course I guess it's not so funny if you happen to be a wolf.
Or know Palin's reputation for helping to target people who are then shot by crazy people.

Sarah Palin dresses for success. Perhaps that should read "dresses in the dark." Update!
Courtesy of Elmer Dud's Facebook page:
Shooting promo shots for my new show “Amazing America” on the Sportsman Channel. Here’s a behind the scenes look. Can't wait for April 3 premiere!
Oh the fun we could have with Sarah Palin standing in front of a green screen.
I read the handful of news reports that came out yesterday about Palin's appearance at the press breakfast and from most accounts the Sportsman channel was just as ill prepared to do this show as Palin obviously is.
In other words it is the blind leading the ignorant, and with shows like Meat Eater, Pigman, and Quack Shack Duck Show, I think she has finally found a home.
Somebody asked me the other day when I was going to finally put an end to Palin's career and make her insignificant forever?
What do they call this?
Update: Based on a few of the responses to this post I thought I would once again elaborate on the information that I which may or may not "drive a silver stake" through Sarah Palin's career.
Yes there are a few nuggets that, if they reached the media at large, were verified on the record by the people who know them and who have access to methods of proving them, would very likely make Palin skitter off the grid and disappear forever.
However at this time I have no way of presenting that evidence in a way that would achieve that outcome.
I used to think that if I could just get these witnesses to come forward it would be enough, but since Bailey, McGinniss, and Dunn's books have all come out, I have recognized how high the bar is set for proving anything that would obliterate her reputation or drive her supporters away in droves.
I mean each of those books contained very damaging information, that any good reporter could have expanded on if they so chose to do so, but besides covering the more prurient portions there was never a deep dive by investigative reporters, who, to be honest, seem bored with Sarah Palin.
So for me to present my evidence, which really is nothing more than interviews I have conducted with people who have told me things off the record, on this blog would be to do virtually nothing to move the ball forward.
Besides if I volunteered my sources it is a given that they would NEVER go on record with any other journalist, and more importantly I would have broken my word to them. Which is something that I would NEVER do.
However do not think I am sitting on my laurels and not continuing to conduct interviews. or dig for information, because nothing could be further from the truth.
Trust me that I will have more for you in the coming months. However whether that "drives a silver stake" through Palin's heart, is a question that I cannot honestly answer at this time. (And yes Palin-bots that last part is metaphorical, we still do not want to cause Palin physical harm.)

Sarah Palin attends press breakfast where she declares that her new show about shooting animals in the face on the Sportsman channel will restore America, inspire women, and probably cure cancer if you believe the hype.
Courtesy of The Wrap:
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin can comfortably split her time between Fox News Channel and her new Sportsman Channel series because both aim to spread the pro-American message and restore the country’s global leadership, she told TheWrap.
“Fox really gets it, you know. They understand what it’s gonna take for American exceptionalism to be restored,” Palin said following her presentation for “Amazing America” at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Friday.
At #TCA14 press b-fast with @SPORTSMANchnl to talk about our new show “Amazing America”. Can't wait until April 3 premiere!
— Sarah Palin (@SarahPalinUSA) January 10, 2014
“They understand that getting more people active and productive and living a real industrious type lifestyle – that our show will showcase – actually helps the cause of Fox too, so it’s mutually beneficial.” (I'm sorry how does walking through the woods shooting creatures who are minding their own business going to "restore exceptionalism" in America?)
The Sportsman Channel series will follow Palin – who returned to Fox News as a contributor last year – as she visits people and places around the country that “embrace, and encourage, and inspire more of that American spirit that we need more of.”
“What our show is gonna do is help fundamentally restore that, restore that Americana spirit, that built us, that laid the foundation for where we are today,” Palin said.
(Yep, nothing says AMERIKA like killing everything in sight and then showing in on television so that overweight couch potatoes can feel the the visceral thrill of hunting hand raised animals chased through an enclosed area where the outcome is really never in doubt. Remember my daughter works on reality shows, she knows how these things are rigged.)
“I want young women to be inspired by the show that we’re gonna put together,” she said. “One of the reasons is that I think this world would be better off having more young women holding a fish in a picture and fewer of ‘em holding their camera in front of the bathroom mirror doing a selfie.”
(And we certainly know what a WONDERFUL example Palin has set for the young women living in her home. Right?)
Palin told TheWrap that her contract with Fox News needed to allow for filming on the Sportsman Channel series, which she says is her “most favorite thing” that she’s done in recent years.
“I am so thankful for Roger Ailes allowing me to do the Sportsman Channel show,” Palin told TheWrap. “It was part of the negotiations to come back to work with Fox, was to be able to do this.”
(Please, Ailes could NOT care less what Little Annie Oakey-Dokey does in her off time from the handful of minutes that he pays her to make the rest of his guests look more intelligent by comparison. He is probably hoping that somebody will mistake her wig for a muskrat and end her contract early.)
“In fact I’m more excited about this project than I have been about many of the other projects and things that I have done in the past,” she said during the presentation.
But pressed on what those less enjoyable past projects were, Palin didn’t kiss and tell.
“Oh I’ve done some things that, um, I’ve kind of been roped into that haven’t been my most favorite things to do in the world,” she said. (Give me a break! We know she begged for all of those reality shows and cable news appearances. Maybe she means those few appearances at charity events, when she was trying to appear compassionate.) “But this is my most favorite thing, is being in the great outdoors and inviting other people to come live that lifestyle with us even if it’s just through the airwaves.”
Palin also brushed off a question about a new book claiming Ailes offered a Fox News employee a raise in exchange for sex.
(What? They asked her about that?)
“That he paid what?” she asked, apparently unaware of Gabriel Sherman’s upcoming biography of Ailes, “The Loudest Voice in the Room.” TheWrap told her about the claim.
“I think bogus rumors like that are really a waste of time especially when I want to talk about being red, wild and blue in America,” she said, quoting the Sportsman Channel’s slogan.
(Now does that sound like she is surprised Ailes made the offer, or surprised that he offered so much. Hmmm.)
“But ask me something about the great outdoors and I’ll be happy to answer ya. Come on, think of something!”
Here's one, "What do you read about hunting?" Oooh, that would certainly stump her.
Can you believe the hard sell she is giving this program?
As if a hunting program, on a channel nobody has even heard of, is going to do anything for anybody, except give her an even smaller audience than she has on Fox News and Facebook.
Let's face it the only thing this program will "fundamentally change" is that it will fundamentally signal the end of her fifteen minutes of fame.
P.S. And here is a little advice Ms. Palin, since those of us on the Left are looking out for you. If you talk Dick Cheney into making an appearance on your program, dress in the brightest orange vest you can find and stay well behind him. He has a history of shooting first and sorting out the wildlife from the hunting partners afterward.
Update: Mediaite has a little more concerning her take on Bridge-gate. Check out her hair.
Update: Oh God, the shoes!

Sarah Palin to promote her fake hunting show in California on Saturday. Oh whee!
Courtesy of, and I kid you not, Ammo Land:
Sportsman Channel and its newest host, Sarah Palin, will be in Pasadena, California, on January 10 to host a Sportsman Channel-sponsored power breakfast at the 2014 Television Critics Association Winter Tour.
The former U.S. vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor is the new host of “Amazing America with Sarah Palin,” an original TV series that will premiere in April 2014 on Sportsman Channel.
Amazing America with Sarah Palin is an anthology of stories that explore some of the most original, interesting – and sometimes inspiring - people, places and pastimes connected to America’s outdoor lifestyle. Governor Palin takes viewers coast-to-coast into what Sportsman Channel calls “Red, Wild and Blue America” – where the American Spirit and the Great Outdoors are celebrated in equal measure.
First she attempts to take possession of Alaska by appearing on a reality show called "Sarah Palin's Alaska" and now she does much the same thing with a show called "Amazing America with Sarah Palin."
Not only that she is appearing on a program about something that she really knows virtually nothing about. The reality is neither she nor Todd are hunters, and her entire persona is completely fabricated for the low hanging fruit who live their lives to be fooled and manipulated by others.
Sadly for the Sportsman channel, not all hunters fall within that category and I predict that the ratings for this show will be comparable to the lackluster book sales from her last attempt at money making.

GLAAD releases statement in response to news that Phil Robertson's suspension by A&E is now over.
Courtesy of the LA Times:
GLAAD is not pleased with A&E's decision reversing the suspension of Phil Robertson from "Duck Dynasty."
"Phil Robertson should look African American and gay people in the eyes and hear about the hurtful impact of praising Jim Crow laws and comparing gay people to terrorists," the organization said in a statement. "If dialogue with Phil is not part of next steps then A+E has chosen profits over African American and gay people – especially its employees and viewers."
GLAAD was of course one of the first groups to speak out about Robertson's homophobic remarks and inspired A&E to temporarily suspend him.
Clearly A&E has done the math and are convinced that they stand to lose more viewers and advertisers by keeping Robertson off the show, and angering the Biblically homophobic, than they do by allowing him back on the show and angering the gay and progressive community.
I would stop watching the program to demonstrate my irritation at this decision accept for the fact I have never been so hard up for entertainment that I lowered my standards to watch it even once.
I mean once you've seen Deliverance once.

At least two other cable channels are ready to host Duck Dynasty if A&E drops them. Far less money, and FAR less viewers, but by gum they'll be back on the TV!
Courtesy of TMZ:
"Duck Dynasty" will NOT go homeless if A&E decides to pull the plug ... TMZ has learned, at least two other networks are salivating at the chance to pick up the popular reality show.
The owner of the popular Christian-affiliated Hunt Channel -- a guy named Merrill Sport -- tells TMZ, he'd pick up DD in a heart beat ... and would beam the show straight to its most loyal viewers: sportsmen and Christians.
He says, "We believe in the 2nd amendment and freedom of speech ... A&E needs to put on their big boy pants, and if they don't like the programming, they need to either let [DD] go or shut up and pay them."
Sports adds, "A&E is too scripted. [Hunt Channel] would let the personalities flow."
Rusty Faulk, CEO of the outdoorsy Pursuit Channel agrees, telling us Pursuit is 100% interested in grabbing DD if A&E takes a pass. Rusty adds, "We don't censor our personalities."
Has ANYBODY even heard of these cable channels?
They must be included in that "Nobody fucking watches these shows" cable package.
And in light of this recent scandal what a BRILLIANT idea to offer to structure a show around this bunch, that is less scripted to "let the personalities flow." Personally I think that if A&E had not carefully edited out all the racism and homophobia Duck Dynasty probably would have been off the air after only three episodes.
By the way before these critter killing lunatics get too excited they might want to read over the Dynasty dipshit's contract which apparently precludes them from having any new TV shows for a certain period of time.
By the way in case you missed it God happened to weigh in on this controversy a while back.

A&E beefs up security in response to death threats over the firing of the Duck Dynasty homophobe.
Courtesy of Business Insider:
A&E Network has had to beef up security at its New York headquarters after receiving death threats and suspicious packages from people enraged about the network’s decision to suspend Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson.
Apparently GLAAD, the organization that officially contacted A&E to protest Robertson's remarks, has also received quite a lot of blowback:
In the fallout over Wednesday’s suspension of “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson by A&E for anti-gay and racist remarks, GLAAD is experiencing record levels of backlash.
“In the five-and-a-half years I’ve worked at GLAAD, I’ve never received so many violently angry phone calls and social media posts attacking GLAAD for us speaking out against these comments,” the media watchdog organization’s vice president of communications Rich Ferraro told TheWrap.
He said those reactions range from those who simply believe as Robertson believes to those who feel that GLAAD and A&E’s actions limit the reality star’s free speech.
Gotta love those Christians!
Whatever happened to taking the high road and letting God punish the sinners?

When a homophobe is in trouble can Sarah Palin be far behind? Update!
Courtesy of the constitutionally confused clown's Facebook page:
Free speech is an endangered species. Those “intolerants” hatin’ and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us.
I'm sorry "all of us" are in agreement that homosexuality is a "sin?" That being gay is the same as engaging in bestiality? (“Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.")
And nobody infringed on the Duck Dipshit's rights to free speech either.
The 1st Amendment is to protect free speech from being infringed by the government, NOT a cable news network trying to protect their viewer base.
What a moron!
Update: Geraldo Rivera and the Fox and Friends couch of stupidity are also upset about Phil Robertson's suspension.
Update 2: I just visited the Lunatic from Lake Lucille's Facebook page and found this as the top comment:
You people defending this man are ignorant goddamned fools. This is a lifelong South Carolinian calling out all you bigots. Stop participating in my world. Just sit and watch Duck Dynasty, get fat, don't vote, don't breed, just die!
Well SOMEBODY is certainly not manning the barricades this morning.
Update 3: Betty Bowers weighs in.

@SarahPalinUSA I need your help in locating your tweet supporting Martin Bashir's right to free speech. TIA! #DuckDynasty

A hunting we will pretend to go, a hunting we will pretend to go, heigh ho a new cable show, a pretend hunting we will go. Update!
Courtesy of the New York Times:
The Sportsman Channel said Monday it has hired Sarah Palin to be host of a weekly outdoors-oriented program that will celebrate the "red, wild and blue" lifestyle.
The program, "Amazing America," will debut next April. The Sportsman Channel is in some 32 million homes, less than one-third of American households with television, with programming geared to people interested in hunting, fishing and shooting. Palin's show will include a series of stories about personalities and activities in that vein.
"It's very important to have somebody of her stature as a personality on Sportsman because it validates the whole category for everybody," said Gavin Harvey, network CEO.
"Validates the category?" Sarah Palin?
THIS Sarah Palin?
The Sportsman Channel has ordered 12 episodes of the series to start. It's the first of a three-series deal between the network and the busy nonfiction production company Pilgrim Studios.
"The network showcases a lifestyle that I love and celebrate every day and it's great to be a part of their team," Palin said in a statement provided by the network.
Besides the upcoming Palin series, Sportsman airs a series with conservative activist and rock musician Ted Nugent. Sportsman also airs a TV version of the National Rifle Association-sponsored radio show, "NRA News, Cam & Co.," each weekday and "NRA Guns & Gold," a show about guns styled after "Antiques Roadshow."
Here is my favorite part.
Harvey said The Sportsman Channel has no interest in being politically polarizing. "It's not our intention at Sportsman to take any political position," he said.
"This lifestyle, coast to coast, crosses every type of political spectrum."
Yeah good luck with that! Now with both Palin and Nugent on their programs they might as well kiss any hope of attracting reasonable progressive viewers goodbye.
Might very well lose many of their conservative ones as well.
Especially conservatives who are ACTUAL hunters. Or did they forget how Field and Stream once eviscerated any notion that Palin has any hunting ability whatsoever?
Ms. Palin is an extremely inexperienced shooter.
An experienced shooter would not ask if a rifle kicks before using it in the heat of battle. That would not be uppermost in their mind; getting the animal down would be.
Why, before the fatal shot was fired, did the editor of the film superimpose a bogus crosshair on the poor dopey caribou? Why do we not see Ms. Palin firing the rifle? Is it because she did not do the shooting?
Finally, look at the way she carries the rifle as the party walks up to the late lamented ungulate. No experienced shooter carries a rifle like this.
And now every hunter in America gets the opportunity to mock Palin, and dismiss this show as pure camouflage wrapped fluff.
But do you know who will probably get the biggest laugh out of watching Palin struggle to act like she knows anything at all about hunting?
Because no matter what your feelings are about Levi, there is no doubt that at least HE is not a phony when it comes to hunting.
Update: Here is more from The Sportsman's Channel:
“Governor Palin is one of America’s most popular leaders, whose powerful love of country and passion for the great outdoors is inspiring to millions and millions of people,” said Gavin Harvey, CEO of Sportsman Channel. “As a sportswoman, humanitarian, and patriot who has visited every corner of the USA, there is no one more qualified to host Amazing America than Sarah Palin.”
Wow! It looks like somebody has been buying the Palin mooseshit by the barrel full.
