Nikki Haley is all out of f*cks to give. Update!

A consensus emerged Tuesday at the White House and Mar-a-Lago about how to clean up the administration's suddenly muddled plans to crack down on Russia: Blame Nikki Haley. 

Several administration officials said the US ambassador to the United Nations got ahead of President Donald Trump's decision-making when she hit the Sunday talk show circuit and said the US would level new sanctions the next day targeting Russian companies that facilitated the Syrian regime's chemical weapons program. The sanctions have yet to come. 

"She got ahead of the curve," National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow told reporters on Tuesday near the President's Florida estate, a day after a report claiming Trump "put the brakes" on plans for new Russia sanctions. "She's done a great job, she's a very effective ambassador. There might have been some momentary confusion about that." 

Haley struck back with a stunning statement later in the day that opened a new rift in the administration and raised questions about the White House's explanation of her comments. 

"With all due respect, I don't get confused," she said in a statement obtained by CNN's Jake Tapper. 

A White House official said Kudlow apologized to Haley for saying that she might have been confused.

Damn! You go girl!

I am not traditionally a Nikki Haley fan, but girlfriend can clap back with he best of them.

Keep in mind that all Nikki Haley was doing was to announce the implementation of the sanctions that were agreed on by the Congress and which Trump signed off on. And the minute she did it Trump pulled the rug right out from under her.

I mean shit, no wonder she's pissed.

Speaking of pissed, apparently Trump is almost constantly irritated at Haley for essentially doing her job.

Ms. Haley has been perhaps the most hawkish voice on Russia on a team headed by a president who has emphasized his fervent desire for friendship with President Vladimir V. Putin. 

At times, that serves the president’s interests because she can say what he will not. But at other times, he has grown exasperated by her outspokenness. 

At one point recently, he saw Ms. Haley on television sharply criticizing Russia over its intervention in Ukraine. “Who wrote that for her?” Mr. Trump yelled angrily at the screen, according to people briefed on the moment. “Who wrote that for her?”

Trump has also grown suspicious of Haley's ambition, and thinks she might be angling for his job.

There is also talk that she has a secret liaison with Mike Pence, which is certain to feed into Donald Trump's insecurities.

In other words we can probably predict that Nikki Haley will either quit her job as Ambassador to the UN, accompanied by broken furniture and screamed obscenities, or that she is going to be fired in some early morning tweet which will probably occur while she is on a plane flying out to meet with a foreign dignitary.

You know, as usual.

I would love for some conservative to try and make the case, with a straight face, that Donald Trump is NOT Vladimir Putin's bitch.

Donald Trump's anti-woman agenda is having devastating effects around the world.

Women’s health clinics from Iowa to Kenya have been forced to close their doors. International nonprofits have lost the ability to provide birth control, HIV testing and fistula surgeries in the poorest communities around the world. Half a million U.S. teenagers no longer have access to sex education programs. 

In a single year, President Donald Trump has already decimated reproductive rights and access to family planning in the U.S. and around the globe. He reinstated and massively expanded the Global Gag Rule, restricting $8.8 billion in U.S. foreign aid funding for international health programs that provide or even mention abortion. He defunded the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), a global maternal health organization that provides contraception and pregnancy care to low-income women in 150 countries. The group had relied on U.S. money to help to prevent 295,000 unsafe abortions ― a leading cause (13 percent) of maternal deaths around the world. 

International health workers are already seeing the effects of Trump’s policies on women and girls. 

“Girls aren’t able to get contraception, and they’re starting to come back pregnant, suicidal, bereft,” said Lisa Shannon, a global women’s rights advocate who works with reproductive health clinics in East Africa. “They’re desperate, and they’ll do whatever it takes. The only difference here is that the women will die from unsafe abortions.”

Donald Trump loves women when they look like Stormy Daniels, dress pretty for him, or constantly kiss is tangerine colored ass, but when it comes to supporting polices that help them, Trump simply does not give two shits.

Trump follows the GOP talking points and labels himself "pro-life," but in reality, living breathing people, who are not unborn fetuses, are already dying unnecessarily on his watch, and he has no intention of doing anything to protect them.

UN Secretary General puts world on "Red Alert."

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres issued a grim warning as 2017 drew to a close. 

In a somber video address posted to Twitter on New Year’s Eve, he cautioned that the globe was on “red alert” following a year marked by deepening conflicts and “new dangers.” 

“When I took office a year ago, I appealed for 2017 to be a year for peace,” Guterres said in the clip. “Unfortunately, in fundamental ways, the world has gone in reverse. ... Global anxieties over nuclear weapons are the highest since the Cold War, and climate change is moving faster than we are. Inequalities are growing, and we see horrific violations of human rights. Nationalism and xenophobia are on the rise.” 

Facing such challenges, Guterres said he was “not issuing an appeal” but a “red alert for our world.” Only international unity and cooperation, he stressed, could now help solve these many crises.

“I truly believe we can make our world more safe and secure. We can settle conflicts, overcome hatred and defend shared values but we can only do that together,” the U.N. chief said. “I urge leaders everywhere to make this New Year’s resolution: Narrow the gaps. Bridge the divides. Rebuild trust by bringing people together around common goals. Unity is the path. Our future depends on it.”

As you can read Guterres does not mention the Russian military buildup, and the back and forth between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un outright, but clearly that is the subtext. 

In decades past the United States was expected to be the voice of reason in working to make the world a safer place, but now that we have our own out of control oligarch in office, we are now seen as perhaps the number one threat to the people on this planet. 

When they coined the term "elections have consequences" I am not sure they ever envisioned consequences of this magnitude.

Nikki Haley announces that the US will cut 285 million dollars from the UN budget right after 120 nations criticize Donald Trump for recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

UN Ambassador Nikki Haley announced Sunday that the United States negotiated a $285 million cut in the United Nations’ “bloated” budget for next year. 

“The inefficiency and overspending of the United Nations are well known,” Haley said in a statement from the US Mission. “We will no longer let the generosity of the American people be taken advantage of or remain unchecked.”

Haley added that the “historic reduction” in spending is a step in the right direction and that the US would make many other moves toward a more efficient and accountable UN. 

“In addition to these significant cost savings, we reduced the UN’s bloated management and support functions, bolstered support for key US priorities throughout the world and instilled more discipline and accountability throughout the UN system,” the statement said.

Haley said that she also hopes to make further cuts to the UN in the future.

Now Trump has been talking about how unfair it is that America pays so much to the United Nations essentially since launching his campaign in 2015.

However this announcement comes only days after this happened.

The U.S. will cut its 2018 contribution to the United Nations by $285 million—nearly 25 percent—an announcement that comes days after more than 120 nations criticized the United States for its decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. 

Ambassador Nikki Haley made the announcement Sunday, but specifically blamed the world body for its budgetary excesses without making a specific reference to last week's vote on President Donald Trump's controversial Jerusalem decision.

You know if a Mafioso did not like it that a restaurant owner was not playing ball, he might say something like "This is a nice place, would be a shame if something happened to it." 

In a way this is essentially how Trump does things on a more national level.

UN members failed to kiss the emperor's ring and now he punishes them by cutting into their finances.

This is not how American presidents deal with the United Nations.

This is how dictators lose empires.

Donald Trump announces plan to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Does not go over well.

President Trump on Wednesday formally recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, reversing nearly seven decades of American foreign policy and setting in motion a plan to move the United States Embassy from Tel Aviv to the fiercely contested Holy City. 

“Today we finally acknowledge the obvious: that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital,” Mr. Trump said from the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House. “This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality. It is also the right thing to do. It’s something that has to be done.” 

The president cast his decision as a break with decades of failed policy on Jerusalem, which the United States, along with virtually every other nation in the world, has declined to recognize as the capital since Israel’s founding in 1948. That policy, he said, brought us “no closer to a lasting peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians.” 

“It would be folly to assume that repeating the exact same formula would now produce a different or better result,” Mr. Trump declared. 

Recognizing Jerusalem, he added, was “a long overdue step to advance the peace process.”

Yeah, I don't think Donald Trump understands what the word "peace" means, because this is not how you go about attaining it.

Mahmoud Abbas has lambasted the US decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital, saying the Palestinian leadership refuses to acknowledge President Donald Trump's contentious move. 

Calling Jerusalem the "eternal capital of the State of Palestine", the president of the Palestinian Authority said on Wednesday the US could no longer be a mediator in Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations. 

His comments were in response to an earlier announcement by Trump during which he said the US was formally recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and would begin the process of moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to the city. 

"This is a reward to Israel," Abbas said in a televised address, adding that Trump's move encouraged Israel's "continuing occupation" of the Palestinian territories. 

Earlier in the day, Palestinian leaders called for three days of rage against the move.

Boy that sounds peaceful, doesn't it?

Trump had said earlier that he had the support of Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations, but according to news reports there is NOBODY on the Arab side who is cool with this, or anybody else for that matter.

The US decision comes despite vocal opposition in the Muslim world, even among US allies. 

On Tuesday Saudi Arabia's King Salman had said that the move "would constitute a flagrant provocation of Muslims, all over the world". 

Demonstrations have already taken place in Gaza and outside the US consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. 

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said it was "a moment of great anxiety". "There is no alternative to the two-state solution. There is no Plan B," he said. 

In other reaction: 

Prime Minister Theresa May said she disagreed with the US decision, which was "unhelpful in terms of prospects for peace in the region" 

French President Emmanuel Macron said France did not support the move and called for calm 

EU chief diplomat Federica Mogherini voiced "serious concern" 

Boy color me confused.

Here I thought that Trump was just focused on trying to start a nuclear war with North Korea, but  it appears the tiny fingered multitasker is also going to try and create a conflagration in the Middle East as well.

What was it that Michael Caine said in that Batman movie?

“...some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.” 

I think Vladimir Putin and the deplorables have placed such a man into the White House.

United States one of only three nations to vote no on a UN resolution to condemn Nazism. Wait, what?

The United States says it was one of three countries to vote against a U.N. resolution condemning the glorification of Nazism over freedom of speech issues and concerns that Russia was using it to carry out political attacks against its neighbors. 

The resolution entitled "Combating glorification of Nazism, Neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fueling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance," was approved by the U.N.'s human rights committee on Friday with 131 in favor, 3 against with 48 abstentions. 

Ukraine and Palau were the other no votes. 

"We condemn without reservation all forms of religious and ethnic intolerance or hatred at home and around the world," said Deputy U.S. Representative to the Economic and Social Council Stefanie Amadeo, explaining the U.S. vote.

"However, due to this resolution's overly narrow scope and politicized nature, and because it calls for unacceptable limits on the fundamental freedom of expression, the United States cannot support it," Amadeo said.

Why didn't he just come out and say that Doanld Trump is cool with Nazis, and needs their support in the next election?

Well it's a good thing that Ukraine and Palau voted along with us or we might look like Nazi loving assholes.

Right?

UN is pulling people out of southeastern Africa due to fear of vampires. That's right, vampires.

The United Nations has pulled staff out of two districts in southern Malawi where a vampire scare has triggered mob violence in which at least five people have been killed. 

Belief in witchcraft is widespread in rural Malawi, one of the world’s poorest countries, where many aid agencies and NGOs work. A spate of vigilante violence linked to vampire rumours also erupted in Malawi in 2002.

“These districts have severely been affected by the ongoing stories of blood sucking and possible existence of vampires,” the UN Department on Safety and Security (UNDSS) said in a security report on the Phalombe and Mulanje districts that was seen by Reuters.

Of course this type of superstitious fear does not stop with Vampirism.

You may have read recently about the murder of numerous children in Africa accused of being witches.

It was so widespread that they had to found a relief effort just to rescue children accused of witchcraft.

This is why I bang the drum so hard against religion on this blog.

You may think that modern Christianity has nothing in common with this type of mass hysteria, but if so then you have not attended a fundamentalist church where talk of demonic possession, fights with the devil, and the ongoing battle between good and evil are peppered throughout Sunday sermons as if they are as common as household pets.

When you tell people that perfectly natural phenomena have a supernatural basis you are potentially disconnecting them from a reality based existence and plunging them into a world of terrifying possibilities which could quite easily convince them that their neighbors, friends, and even children, are demons, witches, and yes, vampires.

So this happened yesterday. Melania Trump spoke out against bullying at UN luncheon. No, really.

First lady Melania Trump on Wednesday called on the international community to better protect and support children, speaking out against bullying and calling parents and leaders around the world to “come together for the good of our children because through them, our future will be defined.” 

"No child should ever feel hungry, stalked, frightened, terrorized, bullied, isolated or afraid, with nowhere to turn," the first lady said at a luncheon hosted at the U.S. mission to the United Nations. "We need to step up, come together, and ensure that our children's future is bright."

Just my luck to finally get my irony meter out of the shop only to have it see this and explode in my hands again.

Keep in mind that this is only one day after her husband referred to the leader of North Korea as "Rocket Man" and threatened to "totally destroy" the entire country.

Donald Trump's entire presidency is founded on his bullying tactics, and here this Slovenian mail order bride is suggesting that the rest of the world needs to start treating people better. 

Sheesh!

Donald Trump's first UN speech had some diplomats squirming in their seats while others did not even bother to show up in the first place.

Donald Trump’s provocative address to the UN General Assembly had ambassadors squirming in their seats as the US President refused to hold back on attacking America’s enemies. 

Mr Trump went on a rambling crusade against a number of states, including North Korea, Iran and Venezuela - prompting awkward responses from delegates. 

Some representatives even refused to listen to the speech; North Korea’s UN ambassador walked out before Mr Trump arrived, leaving a more junior diplomat to represent the country.

Now it may not bother too many people that Trump ranted against North Korea and Iran, but they were not the only countries that Trump made uneasy.

The list of state leaders missing the international event is long and growing. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are two of the highest profile absences. But there are many whose faces were noticeably absent during Trump’s aggressive speech Tuesday on confronting North Korea, terrorism and communism, including Germany’s Angela Merkel, Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro and Mexico’s Enrique Peña Nieto. 

Diplomats say they’ve learned it can be risky to share the spotlight with Trump, who can turn even the most well-intentioned exchange into an international spectacle, such as his notorious call with the Australian prime minister about refugees or the dressing down of NATO leaders at the unveiling of a new headquarters.

These world leaders and diplomats are clearly afraid of getting too close to the Donald and getting a little crazy on them.

At one point in his speech Trump said that "America stands for every person living under a brutal regime."

Talk about projection.

As predicted Donald Trump pulls out of the Paris accord. Today was the day that America stopped being a leader in fighting climate change.

The United States will pull out of a landmark global coalition meant to curb emissions that cause climate change, President Donald Trump announced Thursday. 

"The United States will withdraw from the Paris climate accord," Trump said to applause from the crowd gathered in the White House Rose Garden. 

He added that the U.S. will begin negotiations to re-enter either the Paris accord or a new treaty on terms that are better for American businesses and taxpayers.

"So we're getting out, but we will start to negotiate and we will see if we can make a deal that's fair," he said.

Yeah that suggestion that Trump is going to try to get us a better deal is all bullshit.

Trump has no intention of working that hard unless he gets something from it personally.

Dana Bash, reporter from CNN, suggested that the speech sounded like Mad-Libs for conservatives:

JAKE TAPPER (HOST): And Dana, I know a line that the president said that struck a lot of us was when he cast the Paris agreement as quote, "a massive redistribution of United States wealth to other countries." 

DANA BASH: Right, because the whole theme against President Obama during both of the elections against him was that he was a Democrat who wants to redistribute wealth. That is a buzz word, a signal to conservatives that we got your back and we're going to make sure that sort of the big bad Democrats who want to socialize and globalize and do everything that would hurt you and your jobs won't happen. 

And there were a series of those buzz words, it was almost like mad libs for conservatives, this speech, and it was a long one. The thing -- one of the things that struck me is after all of the reporting that we've done about the discussions, and the debates, and the pressure that he got from his daughter, from his -- Ivanka, from his son-in-law Jared, from his Secretary of State Rex Tillerson -- there wasn't an olive branch in here. 

It's like those people were walled-off in the writing of this speech, and it was clearly written by the Steve Bannon and Stephen Millers of the world.

And that's really it in a nutshell.

This speech is clear indication that Stephen Bannon is back in the driver's seat and that Trump is dancing to the tune that he is playing.

Reactions to this speech have been rather vocal to say the least.

The Secretary-General of the UN was also quite unhappy: 

The decision by the United States to withdraw from the Paris Agreement on climate change is a major disappointment for global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote global security.

California Rep. Speier claims that Trump has now made himself irrelevant. 

Former President Obama had this to say: 

"The nations that remain in the Paris Agreement will be the nations that reap the benefits in jobs and industries created," Obama said. "I believe the United States of America should be at the front of the pack." 

He added: "But even in the absence of American leadership; even as this administration joins a small handful of nations that reject the future; I'm confident that our states, cities, and businesses will step up and do even more to lead the way, and help protect for future generations the one planet we've got."

Trump administration wants to strip one billion in funding from UN peacekeeping operations. Gee, how humane.

The White House is seeking to cut $1 billion in funding for U.N. peacekeeping operations and to eliminate hundreds of millions of dollars for other U.N. programs that care for needy children and seek to lift the world’s poorest out of a life of grinding poverty, according to two diplomatic sources briefed on the plan. 

The proposal is certain to face strong pushback from Democratic and Republican congressional leaders, who warned that President Donald Trump’s budget will never be passed. But it reflected the White House’s clear desire to jettison America’s traditional role as the champion of the downtrodden and embrace that of a military powerhouse to be feared. 

The White House budget office informed State Department officials this week that the administration plans to eliminate all U.S. funding to the $326 million International Organizations and Programs account, which provides more than $130 million to UNICEF — a sizable chunk of the more than $500 million the United States contributed to the U.N. agency in 2016 — and around $70 million to the U.N. Development Programme. 

They were also told to brace for a 40 percent cut to the State Department’s U.N. peacekeeping budget. The United States contributed more than $2 billion to the U.N.’s $8 billion-plus peacekeeping budget last year.

I guess Trump is trying to save money to cover the costs of around the clock Secret Service protection for his family and repeated trips to Mar-a-Lago.

What are the lives of a bunch of people who are clearly not Americans in comparison to that?

It is so hard to type while I keep having to face palm in shame.

Trump gets handed his first defeat over Muslim ban.

So yesterday started out like this.

There appears to be lots of chaos and confusion in airports around the world after President Donald Trump signed an executive order that effectively bans travelers from seven Muslim-majority countries— Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen—from entering the United States for 30 days.(Update at 4:30 p.m. Eastern: Contrary to initial reports, the ban is for 90 days.) It also places a four-month halt to the country’s refugee program. There are now scattered reports that the order is affecting those who already have green cards and visas. 

Some travelers are being turned away at airports around the world and not allowed to board flights to the United States despite having valid travel documents. Reuters, for example, hears word from sources at the airport in Cairo that six travelers—five from Iraq and one from Yemen—were forbidden from boarding a flight to the United States even though they had valid visas.

Hours after Trump signed the executive order a mosque was set on fire in Texas.

All of this inspired multiple protests.

And caused world leaders to condemn his actions: 

European leaders, the United Nations and international groups have condemned US President Donald Trump's measures against refugees and travellers from several Muslim-majority countries. 

Oddly enough Trump's executive order only included countries that he does NOT do business with.

Interesting, don't you think?

Ultimately the ACLU and others filed a class action lawsuit, and this was the result: 

The American Civil Liberties Union announced Saturday evening that a federal court in New York had issued an emergency stay on President Trump’s executive order banning immigration from seven predominantly Muslim countries. The court’s decision, which will affect people who have been detained in airports, came after the ACLU and other activist groups filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of two Iraqis who were held at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York as a result of the order. 

“I hope Trump enjoys losing. He’s going to lose so much we’re going to get sick and tired of his losing,” ACLU national political director Faiz Shakir told Yahoo News shortly after the decision was announced.

I think I agree with that statement.

The America people are fired up like I have never seen them before, and it seems very likely that they are willing to fight Donald Trump every step of the way on his agenda to destroy our country and undermine its values.

It may be tiresome to hear my repetitive warnings about the USA being shackled to the UN (Boy ain't that the truth!), but what I've said for years bears repeating. (No, not really.)We have not the money nor should we have the inclination to continue funding this Globalist circus that counters our best interest, ultimately endangering us and our allies. (Say what?)

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another... (Oooh, plagiarizing the Declaration of Independence. Bad form.)

The UK knew - it was that time. (And just look what it to their economy.)  And now is that time in the USA.

The Brexit referendum is akin to our own Declaration of Independence. (Oh God, somebody gives this poor idiot a history lesson.) May that refreshed spirit of sovereignty spread over the pond to America's shores! (Sarah Palin, why do you hate America?)

Congratulations, smart Brits. Good on you for ignoring all the fear mongering from special interest globalists who tend to aim for that apocalyptic One World Government (Ah, she's channeling Alex Jones again.) that dissolves a nation's self-determination and sovereignty... the EU being a One World Government mini-me. 

America can learn an encouraging lesson from this. (Yeah, don't fucking do it.)


It is time to dissolve political bands that connect us to agendas not in our best interest. May UN shackles be next on the chopping block.

I find it more than a little interesting that the UN was originally created, with full support from the US just so you know, as a way to unite the world against the next Hitler like dictator who might rise to power and endanger the stability of the planet.

Yet now that we have our own Hitler like figure attempting to gain control over the country and spread anarchy through the world, he and his minions see it as job one to undermine, if not destroy, the very agency created to stop that from happening.

Donald Trump, and his groupie Sarah Palin, want to do away with the UN because they see it as an obstruction to their vision of the future.

And that should be something that terrifies us all.

Sarah Palin seems inordinately concerned with how much the federal government spends on UN "activities." Can you spell Illuminati?

Just asking... have Americans forgotten we have every right to know where our tax dollars go for UN activities, and Congress has every responsibility to do the asking? 

American taxpayers ponied up around $3.024 billion last year for the United Nations’ regular and peacekeeping budgets, more than what 185 other countries combined are paying. - CNS News 

Palin then links to a Daily Mail article about the sighting of a white UN "combat vehicle" on the road in Virginia.

Here is an actual Alex Jones quote from the article:  

'Are these U.N. troops here preparing for economic collapse in America? Is this related to Iran ships approaching the U.S. border?' while Alex Jones posted a video warning of the 'U.N. takeover of America.' 

Ooookay.

It should be pointed out that the vehicles in Virginia were actually being transported and not driven.

There was a response to the Facebook post about this sighting which read, "30 United Nations vehicles, fully loaded with combat-prepared troops, were driving down our highway in Dallas, Texas."

Well hell, a Facebook post from a Texan about the UN invading America, what could be more reliable than that?

Palin followed all of this up by writing:  

Congress also has a responsibility to oversee the Administration's unexplained actions. There's truly no need for our government to keep citizens in the dark about expenditures like these. We're seeking answers.

And then she links to yet another article from a far Right Wing news source which reports that the amount of money non-military federal agencies, which it labels "bureaucrats,"  spend on arms and ammunition is now more than our armed forces spend.

I read through the report and it includes such "bureaucrats" as the FBI, Fish and Game, US Customs and Border Control, the Coast Guard, the US Secret Service, and a number of other agencies which seem to spend money on security forces for their employees, which include the IRS, Bureau of Land Management, and the United States Mint.

It seems fairly obvious that the point of this Facebook post is to suggest that while the Democrats are seeking to limit access to military style weapons by every day Americans, the federal government is arming their people to the teeth.

Now if you are a reasonable person you would probably assume that the increased spending on arms and ammunition by the Feds is likely in response to the increased number of military style weapons in the hands of 2nd Amendment advocates who loudly proclaim that they need them to keep the government "in check." (Just look to the Bundy ranch standoff as an example of the increased danger some of these federal agents now face.)

However if you are a Sarah Palin, or another unhinged conspiracy theorist, it is clear that the federal government is trying to take away our guns so that they can work together with the UN to herd us all into FEMA camps and then start gassing us like the Nazis did in Auschwitz.

Now the truly concerning part in all of this, aside from the fact that Sarah Palin has clearly lost her shit, is that I strongly suspect that current Republican candidate Donald Trump also gets his news from some of the same sources referenced in this post. (Where else do you think he got the idea that President Obama was born in Kenya?)

And that means that these unhinged, batshit crazy, conspiracy theories are now entering the mainstream of American thought, and if Trump were to be elected, possibly inform actual American policy moving forward.

If that does not give you a case of the tremors then you my friend are not paying attention.

Ted Cruz suggests that Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson would make a good UN ambassador.

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz made an unusual suggestion for U.N. ambassador at a rally on Friday: "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson. 

"How much would you pay to see the Russian ambassador's face when Phil says, 'What is wrong with you people?'" Cruz joked to an applauding crowd in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. 

"You know there's a reason he terrifies the mainstream media. He says the things you're not supposed to say," Cruz said at Friday's rally. "He actually remembers who we are as Americans and just speaks it with a joy, not with an anger, not with a hatred, with a joy in who we are."

Yeah, I don't think that the media is "terrified" of Phil Robertson. They're just horrified by his insance ramblings.

Speaking of insane ramblings, here is part of his speech at the very same rally where Cruz suggested his ambassadorship.

“The strength of this nation will not be this Constitution, but the laws of God that the Constitution is based on. You get rid of God, you get him out and keep him from being your anchor — when you start allowing men to determine what is right, what is wrong, what is good, what is evil. You let men do it and they do not vet it with through this book,” he thundered, “Our founding fathers warned us over and over again, what you will end up doing is saying, ‘Well, now I know it sounds like a violation of commandment number six, which says do not murder, but we’re just going to go ahead and tell these ladies — ladies in America — they can kill their children.” 

During the 13-minute speech he barely mentioned the candidate before leaving the crowd with his final words: “Vote godly.”

My question right now would be "Is there anybody sane still supporting these Republican front runners?"

UN sends three women to assess gender equality in America. They don't find any.

A delegation of human rights experts from Poland, the United Kingdom and Costa Rica spent 10 days this month touring the United States so they can prepare a report on the nation's overall treatment of women. The three women, who lead a United Nations working group on discrimination against women, visited Alabama, Texas and Oregon to evaluate a wide range of U.S. policies and attitudes, as well as school, health and prison systems. 

The delegates were appalled by the lack of gender equality in America. They found the U.S. to be lagging far behind international human rights standards in a number of areas, including its 23 percent gender pay gap, maternity leave, affordable child care and the treatment of female migrants in detention centers. 

The most telling moment of the trip, the women told reporters on Friday, was when they visited an abortion clinic in Alabama and experienced the hostile political climate around women's reproductive rights. 

"We were harassed. There were two vigilante men waiting to insult us," said Frances Raday, the delegate from the U.K. The men repeatedly shouted, "You're murdering children!" at them as soon as they neared the clinic, even though Raday said they are clearly past childbearing age. 

"It's a kind of terrorism," added Eleonora Zielinska, the delegate from Poland. "To us, it was shocking."

This is an older article, but it was new to me so I thought it might be new to most of you as well. 

Besides the attacks on reproductive rights the three women were appalled to learn that America does not guarantee maternity leave, and that a woman was eleven times more likely to be killed by gun violence than in other high income countries.

In short they did not find "American exceptionalism," but instead found a country that treats its women like second class citizens. If they're lucky.

If there is no "war on women" that would only be because women felt they had lost and were no longer fighting back.

But somehow I doubt that is true.

Emma Watson's speech to the UN on Feminism is your must see video of the day.

I am not ashamed to say that I am a fan of Emma Watson, who I first became aware of while taking kids to see the Harry Potter movies, but I have never seen her more impressive than she is here.

I decided I was a feminist and this seemed uncomplicated to me. But my recent research has shown me that feminism has become an unpopular word. 

Apparently I am among the ranks of women whose expressions are seen as too strong, too aggressive, isolating, anti-men and, unattractive. 

Why has the word become such an uncomfortable one? 

I am from Britain and I think it is right that I am paid the same as my male counterparts. I think it is right that I should be able to make decisions about my own body. I think it is right that women be involved on my behalf in the policies and decisions that will affect my life. I think it is right that socially I am afforded the same respect as men. But sadly I can say that there is no one country in the world where all women can expect to receive these rights. 

No country in the world can yet say they have achieved gender equality. 

These rights I consider to be human rights, but I am one of the lucky ones. My life is a sheer privilege because my parents didn’t love me less because I was born a daughter. My school did not limit me because I was a girl. My mentors didn’t assume that I would go less far because I might give birth to a child one day. These influencers were the gender equality ambassadors that made who I am today. They may not know it, but they are the inadvertent feminists who are changing the world today. And we need more of those. And if you still hate the word—it is not the word that is important, it's  the idea and the ambition behind it. Because not all women have been afforded the same rights that I have. In fact, statistically, very few have been. 

Watson is a very good choice to be the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador because she is incredibly poised, incredibly well spoken, and a member of a generation that desperately needs to hear her message.

UN official breaks down on camera while discussing the Israeli shelling of UN run school in Gaza strip.

As my colleagues report, Palestinian officials and a U.N. agency say Israeli artillery shells on Wednesday hit a U.N.-run school that was sheltering Palestinian families, killing at least 20. A U.N. statement pinned the blame on the Israeli military, which says it's investigating the incident. "Today the world stands disgraced," the statement read. 

For Chris Gunness, a spokesman for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, which has numerous facilities in Gaza, it's all too much. This is the sixth time UNRWA sites have been hit during Israel's current campaign. He broke down sobbing during an interview, footage of which was screened by Al Jazeera Arabic. Watch above. 

So far in more than three weeks of fighting, 1,340 Palestinians have died, the majority of whom were civilians, including many women and children. Fifty-three Israeli soldiers have perished, as have three civilians in Israel, one of whom was a farm worker from Thailand.

Of course the Israelis are now denying that they had anything to do with this attack and are blaming it on the Palestinians.

However earlier they did more or less admit firing in the school's direction: 

Lt. Col. Peter Lerner of the Israeli military said no United Nations facility had been targeted. A military spokeswoman said that Palestinian militants had “opened fire at Israeli soldiers from the vicinity” of the school on Wednesday morning, and that Israeli troops had “responded by firing toward the origins of the fire.”

Simply put, killing children in their sleep is indefensible.

In the category of more bad news for the Conservatives, the UN's climate panel says "Yep it's hot, and it's all our fault."

A landmark report says scientists are 95% certain that humans are the "dominant cause" of global warming since the 1950s. 

The report by the UN's climate panel details the physical evidence behind climate change. 

On the ground, in the air, in the oceans, global warming is "unequivocal", it explained. It adds that a pause in warming over the past 15 years is too short to reflect long-term trends. 

The panel warns that continued emissions of greenhouse gases will cause further warming and changes in all aspects of the climate system. 

To contain these changes will require "substantial and sustained reductions of greenhouse gas emissions".

Gee, first the attempts to stop Obamacare crashed and burned, then Obama secures diplomatic breakthroughs with both Syria AND Iran, and now the whole world (Except REAL Americans of course.) recognize that man is behind all of the crazy climate change?

It is almost enough to convince a pro-business, anti-government, Bible believing, conservative that they have been wrong about..well just about everything!

Well if they believed in something called "facts" that is.

Ron Paul seeks support from the United Nations, an organization he once described as "rife with corruption and backroom deals," in battle with (Get this!) his own rabid fan base.

Paul was interviewed by Conservative radio show host Alex Jones at the beginning of January and said he wished he had control of RonPaul.com. It's not an uncommon wish. Everyone wants to own theirname.com. The site was registered by his fans years ago, though it's unclear who exactly owns the domain. Ownership have protected their identity from public searches. Regardless, Paul supporters have used the site as an organizational tool to help the popular libertarian since. 

The proprietors of RonPaul.com say they reached out to the retired politicain and offered him RonPaul.org as a free gift, but if he "insisted" on owning RonPaul.com then they would sell it to him. There was a catch, though. It would be part of a "liberty package" with the site's 170,000 person mailing list for... wait for it... $250,000. They think the price is totally worth it: 

"The value we put on the deal was $250k; we are getting our mailing list appraised right now but we are confident it is easily worth more than $250k all by itself. Claims that we tried to sell Ron Paul “his name” for $250k or even $800k are completely untrue, and there is little doubt that our mailing list would have enabled Ron Paul to raise several million dollars for the liberty movement this year. It would have been a win/win/win situation for everyone involved."

But Paul did not respond to their generous offer. Instead, he went to the United Nations' World Intellectual Property Organization to file a 13 page complaint asking for control of both domains. 

Oops! Paul's opting for legal action is notable because he's spoken out against the U.N. in the past. They generally aren't very popular among libertarians. They aren't so bad now that he wants control of his own name's website. 

And now his fans are pissed: 

"Back in 2007 we put our lives on hold for you, Ron, and we invested close to 10,000 hours of tears, sweat and hard work into this site at great personal sacrifice. We helped raise millions of dollars for you, we spread your message of liberty as far and wide as we possibly could, and we went out of our way to defend you against the unjustified attacks by your opponents. Now that your campaigns are over and you no longer need us, you want to take it all away – and send us off to a UN tribunal?"

Ron Paul's supporters did not reach there distrust of the UN all on their own, Ron Paul led them there with statements like this:

  • Its global planners fully intend to expand the UN into a true world government, complete with taxes, courts, and a standing army. 
  • The choice is very clear: we either follow the Constitution or submit to UN global governance. American national sovereignty cannot survive if we allow our domestic laws to be crafted by an international body. 
  • Like any government or quasi-government body, the UN is rife with corruption and backroom deals. Worst of all, it serves as a forum for rampant anti-Americanism. 
And Ron Paul supporters ate that up with a spoon. So for Paul to suddenly turn to the UN as arbiters in this disagreement, is like walking up to each and every one of his fans and pissing on their shoes.

Personally I have NEVER understood the Ron Paul attraction. But it has been widespread, mostly because of his anti-war stances and desire for us not to get involved in the conflict that happen in other countries. I agree with that as well, but then Paul loses me when he talks about returning the country to the Gold Standard or suggests that government has virtually no role to play in the lives of the American people.

Clearly he is somewhat of a lunatic, and the evidence for that is in the first few lines of this post:

You don't get much more fringe, or outright insane than Alex Jones, who many of you may remember from his venom spewing defense of the 2nd Amendment on the Piers Morgan show.

I think that for those Ron Paul supporters who are still clinging to the ridiculous belief that Paul, or his son, actually have a shot at becoming President of this country this will serve as a long overdue wake up call. 

For the rest of us it is just an affirmation that Paul is essentially full of shit. Which is really not much of a shocker.
